03.01.2022 This #NAIDOCWeek, we collaborated with the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning to learn more about their work at Budj Bim with the Gunditj Mirring Traditional Owner Aboriginal Corporation. Budj Bim is one of the world’s oldest and most extensive aquaculture sites, dating back at least 6600 years. In 2019, it became the first site in Australia added to the UNESCO World Heritage List purely for its Aboriginal cultural significance. To ensure the site is well und...erstood and appreciated by all Australians, DELWP has been procuring high-resolution imagery and LiDAR technology to capture 3D images of the land, working with the Traditional Owner's to identify ancient stone huts, eel traps and segments of the ancient aquacultural systems. #NAIDOCWeek #VicOurNature
