Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th March 2020 10 am at Kipara Tropical Rainforest Retreat, 2614 Shute Harbour Rd, Airlie Beach. Workshop: Showing various weaving and stitching skills. Circles to be part of the WHITSUNDAYS ARTS FESTIVAL, October 2020. In Marion’s words: I have been active within the art world since 1988 being involved in exhibiting my work in local and national exhibitions as well as conducting workshops for various organizations. As part of my art practice I explore basketry traditions. Teaching others these traditions and working collaboratively is an important part of my art making. I have conducted workshops locally, nationally and internationally. I am an active member of Fibres and Fabrics Association Inc. in Townsville and have organised workshops and exhibitions with the members. We are currently working with circles to create a large exhibition. In 2015, I was the principal artist in ‘Weave the reef Love the reef’ which was a series of community workshops working with beach and urban rubbish creating the reef. This was exhibited at Strand Ephemera (2015), in Perc Tucker Regional Gallery (2016/17) and at Sculpture by the Sea (2016). Currently I am exhibiting collaborative works ‘Below the Tide Line’ at GOMA in Brisbane. See more

20.01.2022 Last week’s introduction to pastels workshop by Jacqui Henderson was well attended and everyone had a lot of fun exploring the medium. Some great little pictures were created. Thanks Jacqui for your time and effort and thanks Jenny for hosting.

09.01.2022 In March renowned weaver and fabric artist Marion Gaemers will conduct workshops with local artists and craftspeople as part of the Whitsundays Arts Festival to be held from 2-4 October. Participants will learn from the master and begin production of beautiful circles which will decorate the trees at the Festival site. Marion will demonstrate various weaving and stitching skills. Some circles would be completed at the workshop but it is anticipated that people would work on more circles at home.
