13.01.2022 Renew Australia is pleased to announce that Creative CBD Toowoomba program is launched. An initiative of Toowoomba Regional Council, using the Renew Australia m...odel, the Creative CBD Toowoomba program will see emerging businesses gain access to vacant commercial spaces in the CBD, supporting them to transition to commercial operations while increasing the diversity of offerings in the City Centre. 03.01.2022 The Yindjibarndi people have renamed Roebourne’s refurbished Victoria Hotel, the Ganalili Centre, which is the Yindjibarndi word for the light in the morning be...fore the sun comes over the horizon. An alcohol-free premises, the Ganalili Centre represents a new dawn for a positive, inclusive, culturally significant location for the whole community. The public transformation of the old hotel is an allegory of the statement being made by the Yindjibarndi people that they continue to shape the future by building upon their foundation of an extensive and priceless cultural archive, ongoing unique Birdarra law, compelling identity and the effective advocacy for their Indigenous and human rights. This stunning centre is the expression of a resilient, honest and culturally innovative community that has much to more to say to a national and global audience than the stereotypical narratives sometimes portrayed. The Yindjibarndi’s Ganalili Centre offers a window into Western Australia’s history, heritage and dynamic present, created by an inclusive, thoughtful, but fiercely independent group, who are not easily dismissed or denied. We look forward to describing this feature of the Yindjibarndi journey.
