When @qldballet commissioned an invitation for an exclusive showcase evening of their latest production, Dangerious Liaisons, Leesa and Andrew at Designfront knew it needed to look and feel nothing short of spectacular. Providing advice and ideas on papers and print production, three print processes were chosen for this suite; foil, letterpress and digital print. The l...uxe 600gsm black card provided a beautiful, heavy contrast to the goil foil and 3 hits of letterpressed gold metallic ink! 02.01.2022 Driving around a lovely little town called Monto early Sunday morning I noticed some vibrant street art in a small lane. With camera in hand of course I had to stop. Jamie and I wandered down and bumped into The Zookeeper and DRAPL at the other end! These two talented guys had literally just finished this piece, having started painting at 10pm the night before. This artwork was a surprise for their new friend and Monto local, Sheryl. The story goes that Sheryl regularly deli...vered baked goodies as they were painting and also sewed them items to protect their faces from sunburn while working in the full sun. Local country hospitality at it's finest!... I felt honoured to capture this shot and be one of the first tourists to see the friendliness and warmth of this regional town immortalised in Wattyl by such talented dudes. After a chat and this photo, we were pointed towards the water tower, before we ran into them again at the silos which is a work in progress. Swipe for pics. This project is a fantastic initiative by the North Burnett Regional Council with grant funding received from the Australian Government Drought Communities Program Extension. If you want to check it out, I would highly recommend the drive to Monto which is only 4.5hrs from Brisbane. While you're there, explore the entire North Burnett Region if you can and support local tourism by staying in a one of the local communities dotted along the Burnett River. They have some really awesome bridges and national parks worth discovering.
