So, I made this 18 carat and 3 colours diamond ring a couple of weeks ago Its so handy that I can make jewellery by myself Black rose cut diamond in the middle and White and Blue cube diamonds on both sides. 19.01.2022 Hello everyone Hope all is well and healthy! Now Yoo is finally restarted our business but in Japan. We are not sure how long well be here but will be back to Hobart, Tasmania in near future and we cannot wait for it! But for now, YOO is making new products and doing some made to order, repairs and remakes. 17.01.2022 Showing Doublet Opals which I got yesterday! I normally don’t use doublet opals (they are not solid, a lot of opals are quite thin so, glue on the beautiful opal on top of the matrix stone/host rock to make it bigger) but solid/natural opals because the solid ones are natural and beautiful but these doublets are pretty and I can make a low budget series with those stones Because they are not as expensive as the solid ones so it’s often used for opal jewellery in gift shops.... I want to be honest and clear what I use so here it goes! Thinking to make layered rings or simple necklaces in sterling silver. 16.01.2022 Here is a pair of aquamarine studs that my lovely customer asked me to remake because of the original design was too tall/high. Original studs were made with sterling silver but I used 9 carat white gold as she like white gold more than silver. They are really simple settings but nice and strong to keep the stones in the position Always glad to see my customers happy smile. 15.01.2022 Showing steps of broken earring! Photo 1: Repaired pare. Photo 2:My customer brought in these beautiful Sterling silver earrings that one of them is broken (post wire has gone!) ... Photo 3: So, what I need is a same size sterling silver wire but I didnt have the same thickness wire. Photo 4: in this case, I need to draw the thick wire to thinner wire with a draw plate. Anneal the wire to make it soften first. Photo 5: then use the draw plate witch can make a thicker wire to a thinner wire using different sizes of holes. Do the same process of photo 4 and 5 till the wire became the size what I need. Photo 6: the wire became a same thickness as the original. Look at this shiny wire! Good draw plate make wires shiny:)!! Photo 7: before solder, make sure the wire size is correct! Photo 8: after solder. Nice and clean solder! Photo 9: after pickled (soak in to an acid liquid to clean a flux and surface) Sterling silver turned to white-ish colour when its been picked. This is a nice colour but doesnt stay this colour for long unfortunately... Oh, and I annealed the other earring because this ones post has started to be weakened so I annealed and make it softer again. Photo 10: after solder or anneal, wire turned to be really soft. What I need to do is using a varnisher to make the wire harder. Also make them shinier at the same time. I forgot to take a photo but I used some super fine stainless wire to make the surface shinier. Then finished! 12.01.2022 How are you all? I hope everyone is well! I want to introduce such an amazing documentary film called "The Map to Paradise" I watched the premiere in Hobart last night. It was awesome! Showing a lot of beautiful places focusing on under water but not only showing beautiful things. There are so many problems like plastic pollution, oil pollution, over fishing, illegal fishing/whaling in the sanctuary, ecosystem collapse and more. (Illegal whaling part was ...heartbreaking for me because Japanese people did whaling in the SANCTUARY in Antarctic Ocean! I barely know this thing because Japanese news media is rotten. They dont show Japanese people that our people are doing wrong things somewhere in the world! I still dont understand why they hunt whales. It makes me cry all the time...) We know that something wrong is happening to the Earth/land/ocean. But not many people know what exactly happening. This film make you realise what is actually happening and also who are trying to stop getting worse. I love watching nature documentaries. They show me so many wonderful things on Earth but make me sad/cry too. But I know this is important to know so Ill keep watching them! I really appreciate to the team The map to paradise that theyve made such a wonderful film! Thank to Danielle and James! We had a lovely conversation after the film and felt how much they care about the Earth/Ocean. I really hope there will be another screening in Hobart or somewhere in Tasmania! 09.01.2022 Introducing a gorgeous engagement ring that I made recently. My customer brought in an antique 18 carat gold ring and 9 carat diamond pendant to make an engagement ring for surprise! The customer wanted to have a green stone with 2 diamonds on both sides. I drawn some designs with my emeralds and he decided the design. This emerald has mysterious lines inside which makes this ring more interesting. Diamonds are from the antique pendant which had more than 10 of big diamonds!!... I picked similar size for side stones. Melt the old ring and made some different size wires, solder them together, set stones and polished up beautifully. This is such a special order and I am so very honoured to make this on-of-a-kind ring.
