23.01.2022 Telstra has expanded its long-running partnership with the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia to support a range of new programs and promotional competitions. The public programs, in association with the major survey exhibition Lindy Lee: Moon in a Dew Drop, will engage with the history of art, cultural authenticity, identity, the cosmos and the philosophies of Daoism and Ch’an (Zen) Buddhism. The Awards acknowledge exemplary individuals from Australia’s philanthropy, business and arts sectors who show leadership in private giving, philanthropy and business partnerships with the arts. 03.01.2022 Sydney Festival has received its largest ever philanthropic donation from self-made millionaire, Peter Freedman who shot to public prominence when he purchased Kurt Cobain's MTV Unplugged guitar at auction for nearly $9 million. Freedman was first introduced to the Sydney Festival 10 years ago by then festival director and friend Lieven Bertels and he made his first philanthropic gift of $100,000 in 2015. 01.01.2022 Grants through the Victorian Music Industry Recovery Program will support 133 Victorian music businesses and artists with funding totalling almost $3 million. An additional $5 million will be invested in live music venues, as part of the Victorian Live Music Venues program, supporting 68 music venues to withstand and respond to the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic and resulting closures and restrictions.
