A big thank you to everyone in the Gladstone community who posted or shared wildlife sound videos, liked our ...page and posts or provided comments on posts. Urban bird life featured throughout the month which is a positive sign and highlights the importance of protecting and enhancing green spaces in the urban landscape as well as protecting habitats across the region. Creative Recycling Centre would also like to thank the Fitzroy Basin Association Inc who supported this project through funding from the Australian Governments National Landcare Program. Storing and packing food in reusable containers, such as glass jars, is a great start. 11.01.2022 Do you have some scrap fabric at home? CRC has decided to undertake a face mask making project to address the ongoing need for reusable washable face masks in the community. CRC is aiming to use clean fabric offcuts and scrap pieces to produce these masks, saving this resource from being sent to landfill. We are putting an initial call out for fabric offcuts. ... The masks use three layers of fabric and we are looking for the donation of the following materials: * 100% cotton flannelette * 100% polyester tight weave * cotton or polycotton If you have any of the above offcuts from new and clean fabric and would like to donate these to CRC for this project, please drop them off at the Centre, 55 Goondoon St (underneath InvestBlue - access via Central Lane) anytime Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday's between 9am - 2:30pm. 08.01.2022 Plastic Free July - This a wonderful example in our local community of making a swap to avoid single use plastics. Gladstone Road Runners were using single use plastic cups for their races. Up to 700 plastic cups were being sent to landfill each year just from the Harbour Festival Fun Run alone! The club now uses paper biodegradable cups for their events.
