19.01.2022 Here in QLD as we head into summer we are often tempted to lock up the red wines and move onto the whites. However, that may no longer need to be the case with reds like the Barbera from Flame Hill Vineyard The Barbera is, in my opinion, one of Flame Hills best offerings. Dark in colour yet light in style this little Italian grape is the 3rd most planted in its motherland Italy and is proving to flourish well here also. ... With its robust cherry and berry flavours, smooth and mellow mouthfeel and medium-bodied style, the Flame Hill Barbera is exotically alluring like your best friends older sister yet has a cosy, comfortable familiarity like your very favourite Aunt Due to its low tannins (the stuff that typically dries your mouth out with reds) and high acidity this is a wine that will go well with most foods but pairs spectacularly with dark meats, mushrooms, herbs and cheese - so basically any fabulous pizza or pasta Its low tannins also means that it’s best to drink young - within 4-6 years of its vintage - but with the moreish nature of this Flame Hill winner I don’t see that being a problem Head to Flame Hill in Montville to get your hands on some - or better yet, book one of our Cheese & Wine Tours and we’ll do the driving so you can do the drinking #winetasting #creativetours #flamehillwines #sunshinecoasttourism #sunshinecoast #wine

Name : Thijmen Obbink Background/Career: ... Thijmen was originally a Cabinetmaker but has always enjoyed drinking different styles of beer. He started home brewing about 4 years ago and began leading some Sunshine Coast Craft Beer Tours to get familiar with the industry. He now works as Assistant Brewer at Brouhaha in Maleny combining work with what he loves doing the most Hobbies/Favourite Pastimes: Thijmen loves going to the gym and a doing a massive CrossFit workout! Other than that he enjoys generally staying active with other things like climbing, surfing, and hiking. But most of all, nothing beats catching up with mates and having a firepit going in the backyard with some awesome beers. Favourite spot on the Sunny Coast: Would have to be Moffat beach - pretty much his backyard. Thijmen loves the vibes at the beach, good coffee and beers and Moffat is all that, ‘just such a mellow and grounding kinda spot.’ What people can expect on a tour with him: A lot of information about beer and everything to do with it. He loves meeting new people and always finishes a tour learning something himself which he also loves.
