03.01.2022 Did you know, some instruments pose a higher risk of spreading coronavirus (COVID-19) than others? Instruments such as trumpets, trombones, oboes, saxophones, Fr...ench horns and tubas could spread coronavirus through the droplets they disperse and the saliva they collect. There things you can do to prevent the risk of spreading coronavirus (COVID-19) when performing live music: Ensure the audience and musicians playing non-wind instruments are wearing masks Make sure there is 1.5 metres distance between people and at least two metres for musicians playing high-risk instruments (trumpet, bass trombone, oboe). Where possible, maintain five metres between performers and the audience. Increase room ventilation by opening windows. Frequently drain any saliva from brass instruments. Do not share wind instruments, unless thoroughly cleaned and disinfected before reuse. Using a barrier cap on the bell of a brass instrument significantly reduces the release of respiratory aerosols. More info, see the 'Coronavirus (COVID-19) transmission from air-circulating, wind-blowing devices and activities' fact sheet here: http://ow.ly/xBFo50CMI3y #COVID19Vic
