22.01.2022 Sleep is important, and you need enough sleep to be a healthy, functioning adult. Getting seven to eight hours requires discipline. Here are ten simple tips to a better nights sleep: 1. Develop a Bedtime Ritual: Our body clocks respond to a rhythm around sleep, develop a pattern of going to bed the same time every night. 2. Turn Down the Lights: In response to softened light or darkness our brains release a chemical called melatonin which promotes sleepiness.... 3. Avoid Device Activity: Eliminate using your device 30 mins before bedtime or reduce the brightness of the screen - as this reduces the release of melatonin. 4. Take a Hot Shower or Bath: A hot shower or bath relaxes our mind and body bringing us good sleepy feels! 5. Breathe: Try the breathing method called the 4-7-8. Breathe in for 4 seconds, hold for 7 seconds and then breathe out for 8 seconds. 6. Listen to Relaxing Music: Soothing sounds have a way of relaxing our mind and reducing tension. 7. Make a List: Simply writing down your list of things to do helps you get your mind off what it actually is. 8. Essential Oils: Inhaling sleep-inducing essential oils increases the amount of slow and deep wave sleep. 9. Read a Book: A fiction book is a great way for the brain to relax before bed. 10. Muscle Relaxation Technique: While lying in bed, tense the arch of your feet, hold for 5 seconds then instantly release the tension and feel the weight of your feet on the bed for about 20 seconds. Next tense your calves, hold for 5 seconds then instantly release the tension and feel the weight of your calves on the bed for at least 20 seconds. Repeat for every muscle group and youll be asleep faster than you can zzzzzzzzzzzz... #crestwoodfamilymedical #crestwoodmedical #sleeptechniques #sleeptips #crestwoodgp

17.01.2022 Stretching has several health benefits... Not just stretching before a physical activity but as a regular habit it can help to: 1. Improve Posture - Tight muscles cause poor posture so stretching helps to release tension and therefore improve your posture. 2. Improves Range of Motion - You can prevent the loss of your range of motion by stretching regularly, especially as you age your joints lose their range of motion. 3. Decreases Back Pain - Poor posture in the upper back c...auses the lower back to compensate and develop pain, tight hamstrings or hip flexors cause the lower back to compensate and develop pain. Stretching these muscles helps to decrease back pain. 4. Stretching Helps Prevent Injury - By stretching before physical activity, injury is prevented by bringing blood flow to the muscles thereby warming them up and decreasing tightness to prevent a strain or tear. 5. Stretching Decreases Muscle Soreness - If your muscles are sore from a recent workout or muscle strain, stretching can help relieve some of this discomfort. Gently stretching these tight muscles out alleviates pain and soreness. So remember to take some time to stretch - it's great for your health! #crestwoodfamilymedical #gpcrestwood #StretchingBenefits #healthtipsoftheday

17.01.2022 Time to Detox? You don't necessarily need a specific diet or expensive products to detox - your body is actually well equipped to eliminate toxins! You can enhance your body's natural detoxification system with these 8 easy ways to rejuvenate: 1. LIMIT ALCOHOL! Excessive drinking can severely damage your liver, impairing its ability to adequately filter waste and other toxins from your body! 2. SLEEP! Adequate quality sleep allows your brain to reorganise, recharge and elimin...ate toxins that accumulate during the day. 3. DRINK YOUR H20! Water allows your body's detoxification system to remove waste products from your blood. 4. REDUCE SUGAR & PROCESSED FOOD INTAKE! Consuming excess junk food can lead to chronic diseases like obesity and diabetes which harms the liver and kidneys (they are important detoxifying organs!) 5. EAT ANTIOXIDANT-RICH FOODS! An antioxidant-rich diet helps your body reduce damage caused by free radicals and may lower your risk of diseases that have impact on detoxification. 6. EAT FOODS HIIGH IN PREBIOTICS. Tomatoes, artichokes, bananas, asparagus, onions, garlic and oats keep the digestive system healthy which aids detoxification and immune health! 7. PUT THE SALT DOWN! Too much salt intake increases water retention which means you're not flushing out the nasties. Increase your water intake and potassium-rich foods instead! 8. GET PHYSICAL! Exercise regularly to lower inflammation and allow your body's detox system to work it's magic! Make these habits a way of life to boost your body's natural ability to detox! #crestwoodfamilymedical #gpmolendinar #drvinu #crestwoodgp #detoxdiet
