Unfortunately his first shot hit a tree in front and sailed back behind him, only for his second shot to do the same. Meanwhile Liam Howlett was trying to encourage his shot on the 17th, closely watched by... Ben Buvanendran, Justin Howlett and Manish Puvanendran. 02.01.2022 A great weekend of golf at RACV Goldfields when the PGA arrived to conduct a Super 6 event. Saturday saw a qualifying round with the best professional score posted by Sam Rawlings (69), followed by Brady Watt (70) and Josh Younger (71), while the Amateurs were led by Vic Allen and Nick Pawley with 34 points each. Sunday saw the top 24 Pros and 24 Amateurs line up in 6 hole match play knockouts. These matches continued on throughout the day, with those making the finals havin...g to contest 30 holes of golf. The picture shows the finalists, from left, Andrew Kelly (Pro Runner Up), Josh Younger (Pro Winner), Tim Bessell from Kew, (Amateur Runner Up) and Michael Moeidjiantho from Wantirna South (Amateur Winner). Michael wins a spot in the Victorian PGA event with tickets to the corporate area for two days, and a whole lot more. Josh won the Pros event 1 up, after a magnificent greenside bunker shot on 18th to less than a foot, while Michael holed a 10ft putt on the 18th to win 1 up as well. The best of the locals was Tim Kelly, who made it through to the quarter finals, but unfortunately, an errant tee shot on the 17th saw him lose that hole and miss a spot in the semis. All participants were overjoyed with the course condition, and the competition format, and are looking forward to next years event. See more
01.01.2022 The final round of the Mens Club Championships were held on Saturday, in conjunction with the Dec Monthly Medal and Medallist of the Year Round. Ben Puvanendran (pictured left) held a 1 shot lead heading into the final round, and posted a great front nine 37 to take a commanding lead. However a few hiccups on the back nine saw his lead dwindle. Mistakes started creeping into the chasing field, as they tried to close the gap, and Ben ending winning the Championship, with Mark... Smith coming in 2nd place. B Grade saw Adrian Bedggood (pictured centre) start the day with a 9 shot lead. He played a very steady round to hold out all challengers and take home the award. C Grade had Wayne Townsing 1 shot ahead of Ian Flynn at the start of the day. Wayne ran into a few problems, which allowed Ian to snatch the lead with some very consistent shot making, and stretched the lead throughout the day to win the C Grade Championship.
