23.01.2022 The Victorian Music Industry Recovery Program offers grants to Victorian-based contemporary music industry artists, workers, businesses and organisations who have been impacted by coronavirus (COVID-19). The one-off program is a response to the unique challenges the industry is facing at this critical time. It will help the industry respond to the changing market and restricted environment while enabling workers and businesses to keep working, generating income, and maintaining vital business partnerships.

23.01.2022 OPEN HEARTS OPEN THE VAULT As we emerge from lockdown and into the light, an amazing line-up of big-hearted artists is set to donate their time and talent for A...ddi Road and CrewCare at "Open the Vault" Vintage Poster Exhibition and Live Concerts on the 5th and 6th of December. Most of us know how tough performing artists like musicians and actors have been doing it this year of Covid, but the artists performing at Open the Vault recognise that many of the people who support live acts have been doing it even tougher. Riggers, roadies, technicians, backstage crew of all kinds, already working highly seasonal and often physically punishing jobs have had almost no shows to support - and therefore no money for jam - this year. That's why we are so grateful to all the artists performing on the weekend 5/6 December and to Bartley Melocco for putting his amazing vintage poster collection on show. Their generosity means that revenue from ticket sales can go straight to helping people who need it most, through Addi Road’s no-questions-asked Food Justice program and CrewCare’s mental health and wellbeing support for entertainment industry workers and their families. Check out the incredible line-up below and buy tickets via https://addiroad.org.au/ - DJs Paolo Flores, Lady Chika and Kween G - Adams Hut with Linda Jansen from Wicked Beat Sound System and Adam Cox ex Good Buddha - Fifty Million Beers: George Jones's illegitimate sons Charlie Maclean, Mark Cornwall, Ross Fothringham, Graeme Griffiths & Lochie Dengate - Ilan Kidron from the Potbeleez with Harry Sunderland, Hamish Stuart, Jonathan Zwartz - The PINKS: Reg Mombassa, Andrew Doherty, Continental Robert Susz, Hamish Stuart, Brendan Gallagher & Jonathan Zwartz - Genesis Owusu's Black Dog Jams: Kofi Owusu, Andrew Klippel, Kirin Callinan, Michael Di Francesco & Julian Sudek - La Boheme: our favourite Colombian quartet - Ray Beadle Organ Trio with Clayton Doley and Andrew Dickeson - Friends of El Taller with Justo Diaz and Fernando Coloma - AfroMbollo featuring Yacou Mbaye and Kween G Kibone And if you can't make it, you can still help by buying a SUPPORT TICKET!

18.01.2022 Big shout out to Hilltop Hoods and all concerned for their generosity! Their I’m Good release has raised nearly $50k for the Support Act ’Roadies’ fund. Thank you for supporting crew! Catch the song on YouTube here https://youtu.be/Wu0hiX8MMnw... Support Act: We’re not just good, we’re great!! That’s how the team from Support Act reacted when we were presented with a plaque from Hilltop Hoods celebrating Gold sales of their single "I'm Good?". The band released the single in May and all parties involved in the release (Hilltop Hoods, UMusic Australia, Sony/ATV Music Publishing Australia, APRA AMCOS, Blue Max Music and Media Arts Lawyers) have waived their respective share of income to ensure that 100% of the money generated by I’m Good is given to Support Act to benefit the Roadies fund. An amazing $49,453.54 has been donated to date. A huge thank you to everyone involved. The song brilliantly captures how so many people were (and are) feeling during lockdown, and the funds will greatly assist ongoing access to crisis relief, mental health first aid training and mental health prevention and education programs for crew.

03.01.2022 The Guardian: LIVE MUSIC INDUSTRY PACKAGE The Victorian government is also announcing the rollout of a $13m package today for the state’s $1.7bn live music industry to be Covid-safe and Covid-ready to come back when restrictions allow. Finally, there’s also a $3m package for further supports of a whole range of musicians, of festivals, associations, peak bodies, of crews as a part of the support acts, support to make sure that the wellbeing of the whole set of workforce tha...t goes with our live music industry is protected. An initial tranche of 106 live music venues (from small places to venues of 1,000+ capacity) will receive $9.6m to keep their businesses going. In addition to that we’ll also announce a series of measures to actually protect those venues which the industry has made very clear is a priority during this shutdown, said creative industries minister Martin Foley. The state planning scheme will be amended to ensure that the value socially, economically and culturally, that live music presents, will be reflected in the state’s planning scheme, and we will be strongly encouraging all local government areas to move quickly once that amendment has happened to protect not just music venues but live music presents wherever they are across the state. Victoria is rolling out a $13m package today for the its $1.7bn live music industry to be Covid-safe and Covid-ready to come back when restrictions allow. Among the venues to share in the funds are the Northcote Social Club, Queenscliff’s Blues Train, the Westernport Hotel in San Remo, Castlemaine’s Theatre Royal and Loop in Melbourne’s CBD. The Grace Darling in Collingwood, Richmond’s Corner Hotel, the Night Heron in Footscray, the Hotel Warrnambool and the Wool Exchange in Geelong will also get help. Photograph: Cosmo Condina/Alamy
