23.01.2022 At long last we have finally concluded the election process for Melaleuca Ward. Despite winning the first preference vote very comfortably I was unable to survive the campaign run by four opponents exchanging preference flows against me, as a result I will not be re-elected. I want to thank all those people who supported me not just throughout this recent campaign but over the past eight years, a time when thing got done in Kingston. It has been a rare privilege to serve the ...Kingston community and I can assure you I will continue to do so through the many activities I am involved in across our community. The new Council will face some significant challenges, not the least of which will be ensuring the community, including business, emerge successfully from Covid, both the virus itself and the economic impact that came with it. The Council will also need to work diligently through the Residential Housing Strategy as I’m informed that the State Planning authorities have rejected Kingston’s most recent proposal, this will have consequences. As a Kingston resident I am hoping for a constructive and focussed Council, one that respects, listens and always works in the best interests of the community that has just placed their faith in it. Regards and thanks to all Geoff.

23.01.2022 It’s back!! The Rotary Club of Bentleigh Moorabbin Central are delighted to be back at the Bentleigh Sunday Market Drop by this morning, Bent St opposite Coles. ... Covid safe, plenty of stalls and an even bigger range of bargains. See more

20.01.2022 Just a further quick update on the expanded outdoor dining provisions as part of the State Government Covid response. I have copied the Premiers media release below as it contains a broad description of what will change. Council has ensured Kingston is ready to respond quickly.... The provisions of this amendment apply for 12 months. Whilst most welcome, these changes are not a magic quick fix for our local businesses however it does make it easier for everyone of us to support them, please let’s all do that and tell all our friends and neighbours to do the same, that way we’ll enjoy them being part of our neighbourhood for years to come. 18.01.2022 2020 has been tough for people all around the world and in Victoria we’ve not been spared. Bushfires, Covid, economic stress, we copped it all and now the compounding problem is the mental health of people from all walks of life and all ages. We know what our immediate challenges are. As hard as it’s been, the silver lining is that the tough times have aided in revealing our top people and I’m not talking about the heads we see on the TV news each night or sprouting themselve...s on social media. I’m talking about your family members, perhaps your neighbour or a volunteer at the local community centre or sports club, the sort of person that you think might be Kingston’s Citizen of the Year, The sort of person who has put others ahead of self. Please, please, please consider nominating those inspirational people, their efforts should be acknowledged and inspiration shared.

14.01.2022 Disappointingly, it was a case of déjà vu at the Mordialloc Foreshore Precinct this morning. Take care with children in the area this morning, plenty of broken glass. Victoria Police... City of Kingston See more

05.01.2022 Don’t forget the Bentleigh Sunday Market is on again this week. Run by volunteers from the Rotary Club of Bentleigh Moorabbin Central, the market is bouncing back after lockdown. New stalls, Covid safe practices, dog friendly and a great atmosphere. And don’t forget all monies raised go directly to helping those in need of support. I’ve also noticed Glen Eira City Council have already set up the extra dining, cafe space along Centre so grab a coffee afterwards

03.01.2022 Earlier this year Kingston Council was asked by Victoria Police to change a local law that applied a 24/7 alcohol ban to the Mordialloc Foreshore precinct. This was agreed to in the knowledge that it would be an imposition to 99% of people who like to have a wine or beer with dinner and cause no trouble at all, however the safety concerns of Police were very real and very concerning. As we approach the warmer months it is disappointing to see that the law is obviously not bei...ng enforced. I know Police resources are stretched at present however the photos attached, taken this morning, are a disgrace. It’s no good creating a law and not enforcing it and if it’s due to lack of resources VicPol, speak up!
