21.01.2022 It appears that smoke may be present in the ACT for tomorrow's match day, but all games are going ahead at this stage. The web link below is to be used for all air quality monitoring and decision making for CCSCA matches. https://www.health.act.gov.au//monitoring-and-regulating-a Before play commences in smoky conditions, skippers must agree to the nearest air quality monitoring station (for checking PM2.5 hourly reading click on the grey bar graph). ... The agreed station is then to be used for decision making in their match. A reading of 107 or above PM2.5 on the grey bar graph means that play must immediately cease and a draw called by skippers. Please see filter options on the web link below to identify and select your nearest station. Based on the advice sent to all club delegates via email this week, there are probably 5 outcomes for matches where smoky conditions present: 1. CCSCA Executive calls off the round, due to clearly unsafe air quality readings across Canberra on match day, resulting in all competition matches being drawn; 2. One skipper in a match requests a draw, due to health concerns raised by any of their players (before a match commences). This cannot be argued by an opposition and an email should be sent to the Executive; 3. A match is played out in full, resulting in a win, loss or tie (as air quality readings remain safe for the duration of a match as per the air quality readings at the nearest agreed monitoring station); 4. A match is conceded by a team, due to a skipper requesting to cease a match (that they had agreed to commence) before an unsafe air quality reading has been published by ACT health at the nearest agreed monitoring station, resulting in a forfeit; or 5. A match is ceased after commencing, due to unsafe air quality readings being published by ACT Health at the nearest agreed monitoring station, resulting in a draw.

15.01.2022 Batting practice during COVID-19 isolation times be like...

14.01.2022 Tag your captain if you think they don't know what a SOC Nomination is... All they have to do (when signing the scorebook each week) is write the name/surname of someone from the opposition who played the match in the Spirit of Cricket (SOC). Easy right? See highlight in pic for more information. This nomination is not for the BEST player, it is for the player who played the game the right way.

10.01.2022 It appears that weather (maybe smoke and/or extreme heat) may impact matches scheduled in the CCSCA this coming weekend. We are again following Cricket ACT's guidance documents on this issue. Up front, the Executive want to state that it may decide to call off an entire round on a Friday night before a match day if forecast temperatures exceed 41 degrees. To aid decision making in the CCSCA regarding extreme heat conditions, all captains, players and officials are requested t...o use the most recent 'feels like' temperature on the BOM app to monitor conditions at the nearest location agreed between skippers before a match (i.e. at the toss). If the 'feels like' temperature exceeds 40.0 degrees at the agreed nearest location on the BOM app, play must not commence or be immediately ceased if it has already commenced and a draw called by skippers. Based on the advice emailed to club delegates this week there are probably only 4 outcomes possible for matches where extreme heat conditions present: 1. CCSCA Executive call off a round, due to temperatures forecast exceeding 41 degrees for a match day, resulting in all competition matches being drawn; 2. A match is completed, resulting in a win, loss or tie (as 'feels like' temperatures at agreed nearest location on the BOM app remain under 40.0 degrees for a whole match); 3. A match is conceded by a team, due to a skipper requesting to cease a match that has commenced before the 'feels like' temperature exceeds 40.0 degrees at the agreed nearest location on the BOM app, resulting in a forfeit loss; or 4. A match is ceased after commencement, due to the 'feels like' temperature exceeding 40.0 degrees at the agreed nearest location on the BOM app, resulting in a draw. We also remind all clubs that two (at 15 and 30 overs) or three (at 12, 24 and 36 overs) drinks breaks must be agreed between skippers before a match if 'feels like' temperature forecasts exceed 37 degrees. The Executive also permit teams/skippers to agree (before play commences) to a 40 over match if temperatures are forecast to be over 37 degrees but under 40 degrees (this is the maximum reduction in overs that can be agreed before a match commences). Please note that CCSCA smoky conditions guidance is still published on a post below.
