14.01.2022 REVISIT ~ WEEKEND WALK ~ If youre looking for a great "out of the way" walk to do this weekend CHECK THIS ONE OUT. Walk to Therabulat and Norths Lookouts and r...eturn, Katoomba. Its an easy walk that the whole family could enjoy. Allow 90 mins for the 3.5km return walk. This is a great, out of the ordinary, easy walk. Park at the corner of Stuarts and Farnells Road, Katoomba. Parking is very limited. Park HERE>> https://w3w.co/hugged.entertainer.satins Head off along the Bonnie Doon Track. The first lookout youll come to is Therabulat, the indigenous name is Dhurabulla. Youll reach the turnoff to the left in about 5 minutes. There are no signs. Therabulat was the name of an aboriginal tribe that lived in the Megalong Valley. Walk on to Norths Lookout about 30mins further on. Return the same way. 09.01.2022 REVISIT ~ COXS CAVE Circuit walk, Mount Victoria ~ Another one for your BUCKET LIST. We featured this walk earlier this year and while you cant do this walk ...just now, add it to your must-do Bucket List. NB: If you intend climbing into Coxs Cave, be warned its not suitable for little ones or anyone with a fear of high places. Park your car at the Mount Piddington Carpark, Mount Victoria and follow the signs. START HERE>> https://w3w.co/army.crinkle.wham The walk goes downhill for about 45 minutes and eventually follows a creek through the valley, which is really pretty. Youll then come to a cliff view over the valley, the track follows around to the right, it is hard to see. In about 15 minutes youll arrive at Coxs Cave entry ladder. The ladder is not for the faint-hearted. If you have a fear of heights, dont try it. We enjoyed lunch in the upper cave entry. The view was amazing. Once you get back down the ladder you turn left and start the climb out. Its about 500m to the carpark and its all uphill SHORT OPTION: You could choose the shorter walk directly to the cave. DETAILS: The walk distance was 2.75km and it took us 70 mins excluding lunch and climbing into the cave. The track condition isnt crash hot after the last rain, so take care. HISTORY: Coxs Cave, was named after George Henry Cox, who was a fellow member of Parliament with William Piddington. NOTE: The loop walk to FAIRY BOWER is closed. Once isolation is over and youve finished your walk drop into Mount Vic and Me and check out some of Karas amazing designed products, especially her socks. Also the great food at Piccolo Deli, Petalura Eatery and the Victoria and Albert Guesthouse Find out more about how you can love Mount Victoria at: https://www.bmcc.nsw.gov.au/love-local/mount-victoria-focus #lovelocal #lovelocalbluemountains #anextra20in2020 #LoveNSW #mountvictoria #bluemountains #bluemtsaus #bluemountainscitycouncil #bluemountainsbusiness #arbmLoveLocal #arbmbucketlist Walks Around Penrith and The Blue Mountains Blue Mountains scenery

08.01.2022 Scenic World To Temporarily Close It is with great sadness that we announce the temporary closure of Scenic World, the iconic Blue Mountains tourist attraction,... as of Tuesday 24 March until further notice. The closure is in response to the NSW Governments announcement over the weekend, to close all non- essential services throughout the state due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a third generation family business who has been at the forefront of Australian tourism for 75 years, it is with a heavy heart that we temporarily close the doors of Scenic World for the foreseeable future, said Managing Director Anthea Hammon. I want to thank all our staff, visitors and the Blue Mountains community for their support and patronage over the recent months. Please be assured that Scenic World will reopen to visitors again, once it is safe to do so. Scenic World will contact all ticket holders directly and continue to keep its community informed with updates via social media channels, and its website: scenicworld.com.au

03.01.2022 REVISIT ~ Another one for your BUCKET LIST ~ The Devils Hole, Katoomba The Devils Hole, a great walk for the ADVENTUROUS. This walk is not for the faint-hearte...d as its steep, slippery and exciting Its a must-do when isolation and SD end. Not recommended after or during rain. You travel only about 500m down, but it will still take the best part of 1 hour to do it. You dont need any special equipment to do the walk. Its said that the aboriginal community used the Devils Hole to move from the Megalong Valley onto the main Katoomba plateau. When you get to the bottom, turn left and go over to the small waterfall and explore the track over to the old Waterboard ladder. You might even see the entrance to Mt Rennies Tunnel. To the right connects up with the 6-foot track. Return the same way. Allow up to 3 hours for the return walk. 03.01.2022 MEET ME @ THE BUSH The Blue Mountains is true Aussie bush, right on Sydneys doorstep. Being a World Heritage Area, the high profile tourist spots are w...ell known to local and international visitors especially through the great support of Blue Mountains World Heritage Institute, Blue Mountains Australia, Blue Mountains Tourism, Scenic World Blue Mountains, Blue Mountains Visitor Information Centres and Destination NSW. But, did you know the Blue Mountains is also home to over 450 different fauna species (including 51 threatened species)? Many of them can be seen by taking a stroll along our many walks and trails which are moments from Springwood Village, Glenbrook, New South Wales, Leura Village, Blackheath, New South Wales, Katoomba, New South Wales, Wentworth Falls, New South Wales, Mount Wilson, New South Wales and Kurrajong Village Shops. It is best to visit: www.bluemts.com.au/info/thingstodo/bushwalks/ for a great summary of our local bushwalks. There are different grades, times and outlooks to suit everyone. I like the easier ones, but the family like to go harder. If you want to spot some of our precious local residents, you can download the Blue Mountains Fauna Project Inventory at www.bmcc.nsw.gov.au/bushland-management/native-animals to see what awaits you on your adventure. This was a great project which was released last year as a partnership between Greater Sydney Local Land Services, Local Land Services NSW, National Landcare Program, Blue Mountains City Council, WIRES, Blue Mountains Conservation Society, Blue Mountains Bushcare and the Australian and NSW Governments. After your excursion, refresh yourself at Lochiel House at Kurrajong Heights, New South Wales, Australia, The Megalong Valley Tearooms, Lindsays Cafe at Faulconbridge, New South Wales or Wattle Cafe, Blackheath or Maggie Lous Bite at Back to Bilpin. 01.01.2022 SNOW PREDICTED IN THE BLUE MOUNTAINS THIS WEEKEND WARNINGS HAVE BEEN ISSUED FOR MOTORISTS "Motorists need to be aware black ice occurs when surface moisture and... dew freeze on the road at dawn or dusk, creating a dangerously slippery surface. Black ice is hard to see when driving and can remain in shaded or low-lying areas even during fine days. "Locals also need to take extra care because even if you know a road well, the conditions may have changed. Snow is expected not only in the Blue Mountains, but also around Orange, Lithgow, Oberon, Jenolan, and high areas around Bathurst until the early hours of Sunday. "Motorists in these areas are advised to delay travel unless necessary, check the road conditions before travelling, be extra cautious and drive to the conditions." A Transport for NSW spokesperson said the Bureau of Meteorology has advised widespread snowfall is expected across the weekend with potential for road closures and/or fallen trees. The Bureau of Meteorology anticipates snow to fall above 900 metres (from Leura and higher) on Friday, with a maximum of 9 degrees in Katoomba. Saturday is the most likely for snowfall, with snow expected above 600m, which means even Hazelbrook has the potential of a dusting. Its only expected to reach 7 degrees in Katoomba, and will be windy. On Sunday, snow is still predicted above 800m (from Wentworth Falls up).
