24.01.2022 Swollen laptop batteries causing concerns for customers Lately we have seen an increase regarding swollen batteries from some laptops. Although not a safety issue, this may be concerning for some customers. Advice has been received from the manufacturers which is likely to reduce the occurrence of swollen batteries, and changes are being rolled out through windows updates. Noticing a swollen battery... Customers may notice that their notebook battery may become somewhat deformed or swollen over time. In some cases, the battery swelling may be significant enough to impact other components of the system including the touchpad, keyboard and chassis. Not a safety issue A swollen battery does not present a safety issue. It is the result of the generation of gases within a battery cell over time. Major companies have been working closely with battery cell suppliers and third-party industry experts to help minimize the potential for batteries to swell, and to identify that swollen batteries are not a safety issue. Do I need to take any action? Although solutions are being put in place, it is possible that customers can still experience this, and the tell-tale sign is a bulging or popped case, keyboard or touchpad. 23.01.2022 We have noticed over the last few weeks a new scam getting around. Someone calls up and says they are from "Telstra Hacking Division", and your PC has been compromised without your knowledge. These people who call seem very legit knowing a lot about who you are. They then ask to get access to your PC to help remove the errors that are causing your PC to run slow. ... These people are not from Telstra and only want access to your financial information. We have had to repair a few customers PCs that have been victim to this latest threat. REMEMBER People, a company will not ring you out of the blue to access your computer(s). DO NOT ALLOW ANYONE ACCESS TO YOUR PC. Unless you have made the initial contact with the company, and you know who they are and are trustworthy. If you have any concerns, or feel you may have been compromised, please do not hesitate to give us a call. We will not call you for no reason.

04.01.2022 AUSTRALIA POST EMAIL SCAM WARNING (Please Share) AUSTRALIA Post has issued a warning to customers about an email scam currently in circulation. The scam involves an email message advising the recipient that a courier was unable to deliver a parcel to their address and that the package now waits for them at their local post office. The email senders address ends with aust-post.com.... The recipient is then advised to view and print information about their package and to go to their local post office to collect it. However, the email asks the recipient to remit a payment first, in order to be able to print and read the article label. Australia Post does not require customers to remit a payment for parcel collection, nor does it charge customers for holding a parcel. If an email like this is received, Australia Post advises customers to delete it. Customers who have fallen victim to the scam are asked to call the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission on 1300 795 995, or visit http://www.scamwatch.gov.au/ to report the matter.
