Initiated and led by choreographer Martin del Amo, Talking Dance: Dance Ecologies centres around a series of conversations, designed to explore more deeply the way independent choreographers work within the Australian arts sector, and how Critical Path relates to that inter-relationship. Critical Path has as part of its next four-year vision made the creation of a Digital Drill a new ‘place’ where digital tools and online space can be harnessed for artistic research and development a priority. In the last 2 years CP has worked to engage with the opportunities for practice offered by digital tools and the online ‘space’. This has been focused around how a Digital Drill might create a place where research and development can happen. The Role: Working closely with the Director you will initiate, develop and line-produce digital projects for artistic research and development. This is a curatorial and a delivery role, with responsibility for the line-management of projects. Also, within the small CP team you will be asked to contribute ideas and suggestions, for delivery on others’ projects, within the existing vision and program. You will work with the director to ensure that projects meet objectives. You will contribute to strategies and plans for Critical Path including those outlined in our project and multi-year funding agreements, and any other plans that outline the key goals of the organisation. We are seeking a culturally grounded and connected, resourceful, positive and self-motivated individual to join Critical Path’s creative team as First Nations Producer. This role includes the delivery of activity in partnership with BlakDance. Critical Path is a leading centre in Australia for choreographic enquiry, research and development.... In creating this role, Critical Path is addressing the articulated community need to build capacity and skill to be in control of the development of practice, by providing on the job training for a First Nations producer. The role is designed to ensure Critical Path is aspiring to be culturally safe and carving out a path to self-determined processes for engaging with First Nations dance practitioners. The First Nations Producer will be an important member of a small team, contributing to the organisation’s quality programming, excellent stakeholder relationships and effective management. Critical Path is committed to developing and delivering operations for cultural competency this is the responsibility of the whole organization. The role will work across the CP program, contributing to (1) shaping and delivering some specific targeted activity both in terms of ensuring Indigenous artists are able to access all our programs and projects solely for Indigenous practitioners, primarily joint project BlakForm with BlakDance (2) helping CP to put in place the structures and resources to take this work forward alongside the wider team; contributing to the development of activity across 2021 and leading into 2022. The role will work closely with, and help establish, CP’s Knowledge Circle of First Nations Australian Dance Practitioners. In addition to working directly with Critical Path and connecting with partner organisations across NSW there is likely to be the opportunity for a secondment with BlakDance. 10.01.2022 CALL - OUT! Esplanade presents da:ns lab Co-immunity: How to Dance When We Are All Ill 9-12 JULY 2020... Critical Path is inviting NSW connected artists to apply to da:ns lab, an annual workshop-seminar for artists and arts practitioners to critically reflect on key issues surrounding their creative practice. This year's lab will be a remote meeting taking place online with 60 participants, from 6 regional clusters across Hong Kong, Manila, New Delhi, Singapore, Sydney and Taipei. da:ns lab 2020 will likewise foster a region-wide discussion to better understand the socio-political situation in different contexts in Asia, how the arts sector is impacted by a dramatically-changed landscape, how to imagine new modus operandi for the future, and how we can chart strategies for international cooperation based on principles of knowledge sharing and mutual support. da:ns lab 2020 will take place on 9-12 July 2020 in partnership with Esplanade Theatres on the Bay.
