23.01.2022 When Queen Sybilla first laid eyes on her regal beau, she thought him the very reddest parrot she had ever seen. As it turned out, King Oberon had just spent a fortnight of sunning himself in Glenelg and was now more sunburn than bird. As a girl, she joined environmental protests, buzzing around bulldozer drivers until they ran screaming from worksites bordering vulnerable green corridors. Babs had noticed her first grey feather last Winter, closely followed by two more in Spring. 2020 had been a hard year for all the birds in the understory, with drought, bushfires and a noticeable lack of eligible men (who didn’t find footy more interesting that wine and good conversation) for a fowl in her... middle aged prime.
