22.01.2022 Our meter readers deal with all manner of hazards during their quarterly reads; spiders, snakes, prickly vegetation not to mention extremes of heat and inclem...ent weather. This task is made easier and safer by maintaining appropriate access to the meter. There should be a two meter access and clearance above the meter and half-meter clear zone on the ground. It would also be appreciated if signs are erected where specific hazards could be encountered by Council staff large dogs, electrified fences, etc. Remember, if you can’t read your meter safely neither can we!

07.01.2022 What a difference a year makes. Scone Park's been top dressed, leveled and seeded and new pop up sprinklers and irrigation system - using bore water and rainwat...er from the basketball stadium - has been running for 6 months. Another project proudly funded by the NSW Government's Stronger Country Communities Fund. Solar panels are being put on the basketball stadium next week and new lighting in early 2021. 06.01.2022 The Brereton War crimes report has been handed down. I haven’t read it, I’m guessing most of you haven’t either. So here is what I am proposing. If you want to... comment on it, read it. Don’t let the media give you their spin on it, read it yourself draw your own conclusions. Then once you have read it and drawn your conclusions, go about your business as if you have no bearing on the outcome of the investigations and trials that will follow. Because for so many of us Australians we will have absolutely no impact on the issue whatsoever. It is absolutely abhorrent to think that Australians have been the perpetrators of War crimes. I do not think on that lightly. But in this Country you are innocent until proven guilty and that is just one of the many freedoms that each Sailor, Soldier and Airman fought for, suffered for and some even died for. The media is not a branch of government nor is it a judicial body. Don’t buy into the hype and let the process take place that is there to protect the innocent and punish the guilty.

05.01.2022 Blandford, Wingen and Parkville water reticulation possibilities were discussed with residents in meetings today. Couldn't make it to the meeting? The recording...s (or transcripts if the audio quality isn't good) will be on the project page later this week https://upperhunter.nsw.gov.au///village-reticulation.aspx Residents are asked to give their initial feedback before the 30 September, and based on that Council will adjust the plans and be back to talk with residents again in the next few months.
04.01.2022 Our young thinkers are amazing at bringing new ideas forward. Utilising waste for energy production isn’t a new idea but I don’t think anyone has ever thought to use our rich resource of bovine, equine and human waste to generate it. What do you think could we power our shire through this type of innovation?
