25.01.2022 Well, my day is done at 3.6 miles or about 5.7kms and 4 hours. Apart from having to get to work, and after walking through Northfield, Lightsview, Greenacres, Hampstead Gardens and Hillcrest, the hole in my shoe which I had developed early this afternoon became too painful, and, wet. I rang Donna and she picked me up from the backstreets of Hillcrest. I got home to a warm drink, heater on, happy dogs and a new pair of shoes Donna had thoughtfully bought for me. Then it str...uck me - there but for the grace of whomever you believe in, goes all of us. That is why I did this walk, to help end homelessness so other South Aussies can come home to a warm drink, heater on and the things I take for granted. Thank you to all following today's postings, and those who have donated, or are still intending to. I will continue the walk next week. And be thankful I can call it off at anytime. Hopefully, your generosity will allow others that privilege. Thank you. See more

24.01.2022 We've had over 250 localised markers and comments left on our map to help us develop our Integrated Transport Strategy. There are only a few days left to have y...our input during this consultation and help us to create a well-planned and people-friendly transport environment across PAE. To view the full map and read comments, head to www.haveyoursay.cityofpae.sa.gov.au and zoom in. This will be the guiding strategy for the next ten years and will lead our transport investment and policy decisions. The strategy covers five key areas; road safety, travel time, parking, cycling and walking, and the public transport network. Visit www.haveyoursay.cityofpae.sa.gov.au to tag the map and provide your comments and input. Comments provided on social media cannot be included in this consultation. 23.01.2022 Sorry to hear of the passing of the former Mayor of Salisbury, Pat St Clair Dixon. Even though her local government career finished in 1993, she continued caring and working as a volunteer in the community for many years afterwards, and like most of us, making a better community for all was at the heart of all she did.
23.01.2022 On Friday 7th August, Ill be Walking about 7 Miles (11km) around Northfield Ward to raise funds for the 1000s of South Australians experiencing homelessness. All funds go to Hutt St Centre so they can continue their fantastic assistance to homeless South Aussies stretching back over 60 years. If you know me, you know I am passionate about social justice and assisting those who need a hand up, so please donate now - as little or as much as you can - and together, we can help end homelessness in SA.
22.01.2022 Today in my list of promoting Northfield Ward's small businesses, we are onto E, which stands for SUPPORT YOU LOCAL ELECTRICIAN. Energize Integration is based in Northgate, run by the Calvert family, one of the loveliest families you could hope to meet. Tim is a very experienced and skilled electrician and the business does more than fix or install wiring, power points and lamps (which they do very well of course) - they can change your home or office into an electronic castl...e with you as its master! In other words, home automation. If you want to know more - ask Tim or Emma! Another local business I can personally recommend! Ph: 0407725145 See more

20.01.2022 On August 7th I will be Walking 7 or so miles (that's over 11kms) through every suburb of Northfield Ward to help raise funds for the Hutt St Centre to help those experiencing homelessness in Adelaide. All money raised goes to them. Though I'd love to have some company on the way, I'd really, really appreciate it if you could see your way to make even a small (or bigger one if you can afford it) tax deductible donation to my page. Together, we can help the Hutt St Centre end homelessness in SA.
19.01.2022 Had a lovely lunch and coffee at the new Ikigai Cafe in Lightsview (next door to Hungry Jacks, but car park at rear) today and a chat with owner Steph about the principles that drive the business - only opened last Friday so check it out! Nice view too!

18.01.2022 Co owner Steph (in white) is too busy to pose for a photo at Ikigai Cafe because it is so busy...people have cottoned on just how good this place is! And thanks for the donation too!
18.01.2022 One of the landmarks of Northfield, and one of its most vandalised buildings, is now gone. The changerooms on LJ Lewis Reserve were demolished this week and what remains is being removed as I write. New clubrooms with inclusive changing facilities are being built in its place by Council, for the various sporting bodies who use the reserve, and new permanent changerooms will also be built on Edward Smith Reserve thanks in part to a State Government grant. I played my first game for Greenacres FC on this oval, had some very cold showers in these rooms - the taps were marked "icy" and "freezing", cheered legendary Lloyd Rigney as he ran out for his 500th game, and consumed the odd pasty and cold stubbie, or two, from the canteen. It's time had been - and gone - and the new will be so much better.
18.01.2022 Another big crowd at Northfield's Duncan Fraser Reserve to see Gepps Cross take on Woodville South in Div 4 of the Adelaide Footy League. Today Northgate Community and Sports Club hosts 4 games, including the Senior Womens game at 6pm tonight. It's great to see so many local residents come out and support the local footy team.
18.01.2022 Had a yummy banana milkshake at Delightful Cafe at The Lights made by Sarah on my Walk 7 miles around Northfield Ward (progressing slowly due to me gasbagging with residents, Council staff and businesses).
17.01.2022 Absolutely terrible behaviour against innocent local residents. Please let SAPOL know if you saw anything. I trust those injured recover physically and mentally quickly.
17.01.2022 On Wednesday 21 October 2020, a male, female and young girl were seen walking along Falcon Avenue Hampstead Gardens near the corner of Gambia Ave with an off le...ash dark coloured Staffordshire bull terrier type dog with white markings. This dog allegedly attacked and killed a King Charles Cavalier named Charli. The City of PAE’s Community Safety Team have undertaken a comprehensive investigation of this terrible incident, including taking statements, door knocking surrounding properties, looking for witnesses and interviewing alleged defendants, however to date we have not been able to confirm the identity of the dog and owner responsible for this incident. We are now seeking your help for any information that may assist our investigation. If you have any information, dash cam footage, or were in the area on the 21 October 2020 between the hours of 8pm and 8.30pm, please contact our Community Safety Team on 8405 6600 or send us a private message.
17.01.2022 Sorry, due to illness I missed posting yesterday's Northfield small business to promote, but here it is, F is for SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL FRUIT & VEG SELLER! Hashtag Tomatoes is both a grower and seller of fresh vegetables, growing their own tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, capsicums, eggplants and cucumbers, as well as selling other fruit and vegetables, all from their stall at The Lights Fresh Community Markets. As the (volunteer) Manager of the markets, I certainly do recommend them! 40 David Campbell Way, Lightsview; every Sunday 8am-noon.
17.01.2022 If you need your car repaired, you cannot go past Louca Automotive in Hampstead Gardens. Honest, speedy and professional service. Here are owners Bill & Lyrie who were too busy to pose for a photo, but made time to donate $100 to the Hutt Street Centre on my Walk 7 miles around Northfield Ward. Thank you!!
17.01.2022 One of the major projects outlined in our 2020-2021 Annual Business Plan and Budget is the building and operation of a Material Recovery Facility in conjunction... with City Of Charles Sturt, to reduce landfill and generate employment. Were passionate about taking control of our recyclables and finding new ways to encourage and support local businesses and the circular economy. To read more about the MRF plus other projects we have planned for the next financial year, and to provide your comments and feedback on all of them, visit www.haveyoursay.cityofpae.sa.gov.au
17.01.2022 COVID19 TRAFFIC MAYHEM The COVID19 testing station at the Hampstead Rehab Centre has queues backed up over 1km back around the corner of Folland Avenue, and then traffic wishing to drive west along Folland Avenue are caught up in this mess. Traffic is also backed up all the way north and then west down Grand Junction Road - all the way to the old Enfield High site in the right lane. There was at one count, 17 B Doubles in that. Traffic is also backed further up Briens Road i...n the to city or south heading lanes to past Roma Mitchell SC. My advice on the traffic is: Do not drive south along Hampstead Road (North of Hampstead Rehab Centre) or Briens Road or try to turn right into Hampstead Road from Grand Junction Road - you will be stuck. Traffic heading the other direction on these roads are fine. See more
15.01.2022 ...and the Walk 7 miles around Northfield Ward has begun with Gilly the Puff at LJ Lewis Dog Park
15.01.2022 Very privileged today to represent Mayor Claire Boan and City of Port Adelaide Enfield and give a speech at the Official Opening of the first relaunched Ampol site in SA, in Holden Hill. Lovely people and all the best to Ampol as Caltex sites are rebadged across Australia in the next 2 years.

I have spoken to many of their happy customers and feel comfortable in recommending them. [email protected] Phone: 8266 0011
12.01.2022 Northfield Ward resident Holly is an amazing and wonderful woman...and also has a very, very impressive sporting resume. Congratulations Holly, long may you enjoy your hockey passion, and long may we appreciate your devotion to your club and community.
11.01.2022 Sorry to hear today of the passing of the former (and first) Mayor of the City of Onkaparinga, Ray Gilbert. Ray spent 34 years as an elected member, retiring in 2006, and I found him to be a man of integrity who cared deeply for his community, and was not afraid to take the responsibility for his decisions. He was affable, respectful to all, and charming with a sharp intellect, which was often needed when in charge of the largest Council in SA. Another giant of local government in SA has left the Chamber for the last time.
11.01.2022 Today was the official sod turning of the new changerooms on the LJ Lewis Reserve oval in Northfield. Jointly funded by the City of PAE, the State Government and North Adelaide Football Club, the new state of the art facilities will provide 4 changerooms, umpires' room, first aid room, massage room, canteen and storage. Sports Minister, Corey Wingard, helped out with Mayor Claire Boan, and the 3 Northfield Ward Councillors, the builders and Council staff. Here is a behind the scenes photo.
09.01.2022 Alphabetically promoting Northfield Ward's small businesses, I'm at D for SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL DOG GROOMER - Custom Dog Grooming. Lesley in Northfield has been taking care of our boys for 10+ yrs. Great for smaller dogs!
09.01.2022 Norm from Hampstead Quality Meats at Northfield has kindly donated this meat tray to our cause...any ideas on how to raise funds with it? Norm will also donate $10 to the Hutt Street Centre.
08.01.2022 Events, activities, and physical sites. We are monitoring the situation regarding the recent COVID-19 cluster outbreak in the northern suburbs. Our internal COV...ID-19 Incident Management team met earlier today and is assessing any impacts this may have on any of our services and programs. As always, our priority is ensuring the safety of our community. We continue to ensure hygiene and social distancing protocols remain in place at our Civic Centre, Community Centres and Library sites, and we have continued to work with SAPOL to ensure these practices are in place in local businesses and for any planned activities in PAE. We are continuing to provide ongoing services, programs and support, and make adjustments where necessary. We are also doing whatever we can to support our most vulnerable, elderly, and already isolated people in our community. Further information can be found at SA Health and we will comply with any directives from the Premier, SA Health and SAPOL, and continue to assess how and which programs can continue safely and provide updates. WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES? It is a very critical time now, so to ensure that we can make our events and activities safe in the future we have made the following decisions Rides on the Ferris wheel set up at the Lighthouse until 22 November will not proceed as planned. We will reassess the availability and timing in the future, when this fun activity can be held safely. Greyhound Dog Park day on 21 November will be postponed until we are confident we can find a time that ensures full participation and safety for all. Kilburn Community Centre Craft Fair day on 21 November has been cancelled. Port Laneway Markets on 22 November will not go ahead as planned, and we will look for another opportunity in the future. WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH COMMUNITY CENTRES AND LIBRARIES? The Lights Community and Sports Centre and Lefevre Community Stadium are closed until we are advised by SA Health that it is safe to reopen them. Most other programs run across our Kilburn Community Centre and Enfield Community Centre are small in numbers and are being cancelled or significantly reduced. Our City of PAE Libraries Greenacres, The Parks, Port Adelaide and the popup libraries at Semaphore and Enfield are still open, with a smaller capacity due to the one person per four square metre SA Health direction. Smaller group programs are being reviewed across our libraries. HOW SHOULD YOU CONTACT US? We are taking extra measures to ensure the safety of staff and members of the public by minimising non-essential face-to-face contact. This includes segregating field staff teams and working staggered shift times, non-essential site visits, reduced meetings, consultations and events. We understand that due to circumstances, some people will still need to visit a council office. If you do, we are taking social distancing steps to ensure that you and our staff are safe. You can make requests for service across the PAE operations through our online Services Portal, which is available 24/7. You can talk to a member of staff between 8:30am and 5:00pm by calling 8405 6600, and our after-hours service will continue to operate outside of these hours.
08.01.2022 Back to my alphabetical list of supporting local businesses in Northfield Ward - we are at J for Jibbi & Co Coffee Shop (known locally as Jibbis). 04.01.2022 I am appalled and shocked by the alleged actions on innocent local Northfield Ward residents. I wish a speedy recovery - physically - and mentally - to those impacted.
03.01.2022 Sorry to read of the passing this morning of my friend, and former local government colleague for many years on the City of Charles Sturt, long term Beverley Ward Councillor, Mick Harley OAM.
