25.01.2022 Beautiful and sunny today in #lockdownMelbourne. My son and I participated in Play Music on the Porch Day. Nice to see locals on their daily walk. #playmusicontheporchday #innerwestmelb #yarraville #seddon #footscray #melbourneinnerwest
22.01.2022 Another step forward with improved waste management and carbon emissions control. You can now put food waste ((including bones and meat) in your green bins. Many thanks to the Council staff who pulled this together.
21.01.2022 More support for local arts groups with council recently providing $1.7 million over 3 years to numerous arts organisations in Maribyrnong. If elected I'll be advocating for state and federal funding for the new NeXT Project theatre/gallery space in Footscray. 20.01.2022 Welcome to Spring, folks. Hope you enjoyed some sunshine today (our chooks did).
19.01.2022 Council elections coming up.
17.01.2022 Covid elections - postal ballot papers and no doorknocking, so trying to reach as much of the community as possible by phone. And getting lots of great ideas on how we can improve the local area. Feel free to get in touch if you've got any thoughts or ideas.
17.01.2022 A new project from Council's Arts and Culture team.
15.01.2022 Single digit, congrats everyone. Keep up the great work.
14.01.2022 Three live music venues in Footscray (Pride of Our Footscray, the Night Heron and Mantra Studio} all received grants as part of the State Government's support program for the live music industry. The program is worth $9m, and Pride of Our Footscray received $80,000. Keeping the industry afloat until we get back to normal, and hopefully bringing live music back sooner.
13.01.2022 Hi to residents in the Yarraville Ward for the City of Maribyrnong - Yarraville, Kingsville, Seddon and Footscray. I hope you’re coping with all the challenges of COVID-19 right now. Letting you know that we’re heading towards a Council Election on October 24. If you are registered to vote you’ll receive a postal ballot in your letterbox at the start of October. You'll need to post it back before the 24th. I’m standing again to be one of your councillors in Yarraville Ward.... I’ve been a councillor for 12 years, I was Mayor of Maribyrnong last year, and I've worked hard to improve the liveability and attractiveness of our suburbs. I’m a secondary school teacher and musician and I've lived in Yarraville for 25 years, with my wife and two teenage sons. I’ve been active in many local community organisations. In coming weeks I'll share some of my plans for the future of the city, especially for how the council deals with the pandemic, and the effect it is having on the local economy. Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
13.01.2022 Another step forward to help our local cafes and restaurants during Covid. We'll probably also be extending the Yarraville pop up park an extra block.
13.01.2022 Last night Councillors unanimously approved the next step towards locating this valuable community asset in Footscray. This will be the first Vietnamese Museum in Australia. Many thanks to the Vietnamese Museum Australia for the effort they've put into this project so far, and for the work still to come. https://www.vietnamesemuseum.com.au/
12.01.2022 An article on the efforts made by Council to help the community cope with the economic effects of Covid.
10.01.2022 Candidates have been announced for next month's council election and I've been busily campaigning from my home classroom. Any help would be most appreciated - please let me know.
10.01.2022 Parks are now open. Thanks everyone for your hard work taking us forward (the photo is of Fels Park in Yarraville).
08.01.2022 The start of the next phase of better recycling - all kitchen waste and scraps can now go in the green bin to produce compost for farmers instead of ending up in a tip. #maribyrnong #maribyrnongcitycouncil #melbourneinnerwest #innerwestmelb #yarraville #footscray #seddon #kingsville
02.01.2022 Improved, environmentally more friendly waste collection is starting in Maribyrnong.
