24.01.2022 What a beautiful day to ride the Tinlander from Herberton Station to the Historic Village and return. We are running from Wednesday to Sunday and the same next week. 10am to 2pm. Great value at $5 adults and $3 children. #funride #herbertonstation #athertontablelands

24.01.2022 Great news!! The bridge timbers have been found! It was a genuine mistake by the people who took them and we really appreciate that they contacted us as soon as... they found out. They are returning them at the weekend. Thanks to everyone who supported us over this. Our volunteers work so hard and they really appreciate the support we receive from the community. Thanks again to everyone involved. See more

23.01.2022 NMP's. I believe they were taken by David Bennetts (Does any one know if he is still around? - I have come across some of his pix, which I would like to return to him.) Believe these are from Nov 1994, when ARHS ACT ran a big round trip. CBR-GBN-HDN-CWR-BNY-SYD-GBN-CBR.

22.01.2022 Stripping back the years: The massive paint project at Cooma Railway Station is being support by some important paint peeling to ensure the final finish in the ...station rooms is completed to the highest standard possible. Out on the platform there has been a bit of alternative cooking, with a hotplate creating a hot vinegar dip to remove a century of over-paint from the original brass window fittings. On a bigger scale, the original cedar Waiting room seats have been stripped by the inmates of the Cooma Correctional facility. The work is of the highest order, and we extend our deepest gratitude for their fantastic work in preparing the seats. Cedar has now become a major focus for CMR following the arrival in Cooma this week of the new cedar for the booking office counter and cupboards. Anthony Van der Plaat’s workshop will now become a CMR hive of activity as he builds the new fittings, plus he will work on the stripped waiting room seats and the four reproduction fireplace mantels so that all our cedar furniture and fittings are sealed and colour-matched to the same finish. Painting has continued in the station rooms, with more architraves being given a fresh coat of reddy brown. Our master plasterer John Murphy spent time in the Booking Office this week, installing the ceiling cornices and rose. He has applied the ceiling’s sealer coat and will return this week to paint the top coats. More skirting boards have been fitted in the station rooms, and an air of completion is settling in. A major clearing operation has cleared out and prepared the Parcel Room so that our fantastic flooring fixer Tom Brown can sand and seal the floor. Over in the District Locomotive Engineer’s Building (DLE), Graeme from Monaro Joinery paid us a visit to confirm the measurements for the WC stalls and shower cubicle doors in the gent’s amenities. Also, Ross from Monaro Glass measured up the shower screen for the ladies’ amenities in the DLE and will be back soon to do the installation. Paul continued with the tiling and has now installed the cove tiles in the amenities area and a splash back in the kitchen. He now only has the grouting to do and this part of the project will be complete. Finally, the last week saw the generous donation of several items of workshop equipment. CMR would like to sincerely thank James Armitage, Principal of Monaro High School, and all those involved for this wonderful gesture. This equipment will be invaluable in maintaining our railmotors and ensuring their steel and timberwork remain in the peak of condition. There is so much happening at CMR, contact us at [email protected] if you would like to play a role in creating an operating heritage railway.

10.01.2022 OTHR Prepares to Achieve a Major Milestone Put aside Saturday October 3rd to see Oberon Tarana Heritage Railway Inc. achieve a major milestone. For the first ti...me in forty one years a passenger train will pull in to Oberon Station. Although only a short haul from the Rolling Stock Shed to the Station it will mark a major milestone and showcase the work that OTHR has achieved both on the railway lines in the Oberon Station precinct, the new station platform, rebuilt after 96 years and the Rolling Stock itself. OTHR Volunteers have been in training, learning to drive the 73 Class Locomotives and they will be shunting the train to the station on the day. The Association will shortly commence refurbishment of the railway line to Hazelgrove with the prospect of a tourist operation commencing late in 2021. These are exciting times for the Association and this day will celebrate all the work its volunteers have done during the past 14 years. Come along and help us celebrate. Because of COVID 19 restrictions activities on the day will be low key. Entry to the Station Precinct is $5.00 adults and pensioners; children under 18 free. Oberon District Museum and the Skoda and Tatra Register Museum will also be open with separate entry fees applying. Take this opportunity to also visit the fantastic Military Museum located opposite the Oberon RSL
