21.01.2022 Hi everyone. Another season has come to an end!! We have completed our last tour for the season and would like to thank everyone who traveled with us this year. Due to the threat of a cyclone around Easter the tourist season was slow to start but it certainly made up for it over the middle months of the year. Thanks to our wonderful crew - Ken, Russell and Brooke and to all our many friends and relatives who helped us out during the year. We look forward to seeing old an...d new faces again next season and we will be back in the water at the beginning of May - weather permitting. Regards Ken & Lorraine

20.01.2022 Thank goodness the cold and windy weather has gone and we are back to beautiful warm days and balmy evenings - great for sunset cruising! Travellers are starting to arrive into town so make sure you book ahead for your sunset cruise.

18.01.2022 Hi All Latest update on tours this season. The QLD premier has kindly opened up travel within QLD, which unfortunately won't help us a great deal. I doubt even if the state borders are opened will it make a great deal of difference to business in the Gulf region.... However we have the boat on standby and should we have an influx of tourists we will be ready to go. We have to adhere to strict social distancing guidelines and hygiene regulations which will limit the number of people we can take on the boat. As most of you will understand also it does cost to run the boat, wages, fuel, food etc so we will also need minimum numbers to take the boat out. At this stage we will be looking at doing the sand island sunset cruise only. If you are thinking of coming to Karumba please give us a call - 0417 011 411 to check to see if we are going out. Kind regards Ken and Lorraine

16.01.2022 Hi everyone We will be back in the water May 1st. See you all then

13.01.2022 Hi to all of you. We have been shivering up here in Karumba along with the rest of the country. With restrictions around the country easing a little we thought we had better up date the situation with running the Croc and Crab Tours.... The road into Karumba is now open and permits are no longer needed for travel into the area. For QLD city folk you cannot travel more than 150km from your home so to travel to Karumba is out of the question. Outback folk can travel 500km. For interstate travellers you cannot come into QLD at all. Whilst understanding the QLD gov stand on border closures it will probably mean that our business will not be able to operate this season. MANY outback tourism businesses rely heavily on interstate tourists. As most of you are aware our business is seasonal and finishes around the end of September. If borders remain shut as some of our premier's are advocating, only opening around September, it will be all too late for us in remote North QLD. Social distancing rules allowing a 4sq metre allocation per person in an outside venue, would mean we could take approx 5 people on our boat and 2 crew. As most of you would understand this would make running the business unviable. It is with a heavy heart that we are looking at not operating this season, but should restrictions ease more than we think then we will certainly be back. Hopefully we will have a bumper 2021. Stay safe Ken, Lorraine and crew.

12.01.2022 Hi everyone DUE TO THE SERIOUSNESS OF THE COVID-19 OUTBREAK WE WISH TO ADVISE THAT THE START OF OUR CROC AND CRAB / KARUMBA SAND ISLAND SUNSET CRUISES WILL BE DELAYED. WE ARE ADHERING TO GOVT AND HEALTH GUIDELINES AND LAWS. WE WILL KEEP YOU ALL UPDATED RE A START DATE VIA OUR FACEBOOK AND WEB PAGES.... IF YOU HAVE ANY QUERIES PLEASE DON'T HESITATE TO CONTACT US. PLEASE STAY SAFE EVERYONE AND PLEASE LISTEN TO HEALTH AND GOVT ADVICE WHICH WILL HOPEFULLY MEAN OUR WONDERFUL COUNTRY WILL BE ABLE TO LIMIT THE IMPACT OF THE VIRUS. REGARDS KEN, LORRAINE & STAFF

10.01.2022 May is just about over and it has been a very quiet start to the season. We are back in the water and have been out on a few morning nature cruises. The landscape has changed up the river and creek due to the widespread flooding we had in the area in March. However crocs and birds are still around and it is a wonderful way to spend the morning. The sand island is a terrific spot to watch the sun go down over the Gulf and the sunsets have been quite lovely. We are comi...ng into our busy time of year so give us a call to make sure you get a seat on one of our trips. Please be aware that we don't do both trips everyday as we would never get time to re fuel and re stock. It is always best to ring prior to arrival and check the departure dates. Regards Ken and Lorraine

10.01.2022 Hi All. Just an update on what is happening with Croc & Crab and Karumba Sand Island Sunset Tours at the moment. Karumba is in lockdown - the roads leading to Normanton have been closed and travellers are not permitted to enter the town ( which means Karumba) unless you have a permit from the shire. This has been implemented to protect our vulnerable communities and protect our limited medical facilities. ... At this stage we have no idea when these restrictions will be eased. If they are eased we are confident that social distancing requirements will still restrict us from operating normally if at all for awhile. We can tell you that the weather here is still hot and it is extremely quiet in town. Businesses are doing a great job with take away meals, home deliveries and social distancing around town. Residents are doing really well with staying home and properties are starting to look pretty good all over town with many DIY projects and maintenance happening. In our hearts we would love to be putting the boat in the water for tourists but the reality is we need to be very sure this virus is well and truly under control before we contemplate placing people on the boat in close contact with each other. We will keep you all updated as the weeks tick by. Stay safe everyone and keep up the great job of knocking this menace on the head. Ken and Lorraine

10.01.2022 Hi everyone. Thanks everyone for joining us on our cruises this year. The season was a little slow to start but turned out to be a very good year. We have now finished for 2019 as it has become very quiet in town as temps and humidity are on the rise. We look forward to being back on the water at the beginning of May 2020 and hope to see lots of new faces and return visitors. Have a safe, happy and healthy festive season.... Ken, Lorraine and crew. See more

09.01.2022 Hi everyone. A huge thank you to everyone who has made the journey to outback QLD and supported businesses ( including ours) during this difficult time. We have been pretty busy for the past month, doing both the Sand Island Sunset Cruise and the morning nature cruise. The nature cruise we have reduced the time spent on the boat and dropped the drinks and nibbles but now provide a good morning tea. The cost for the trip for this season is $70.... Sand Island Sunset trip remains the same at $80 including prawns, nibbles and drinks. We are very aware of the Covid 19 situation and have applied rules to both numbers we take on the boat to allow for social distancing and hygiene requirements. As we now take reduced numbers on the boat we recommend you ring or message to book at least a few days before arriving in Karumba as we are filling the trips days before departure dates. Travellers coming from interstate please don't forget to update your border passes as they may get checked here in Karumba. Once again thanks to everyone coming out here and a special thank you to all the Mt Isa and 'local regional folk for supporting our community. Ken, Lorrie, Russ and Madge.

05.01.2022 Hi everyone. It is starting to quieten down here in beautiful Karumba but we are still having some stunning sunsets. Trips are not necessarily going every night so call ahead to make sure we have a tour running if you are interested.
