24.01.2022 7 days to go until the registration deadline and teams are filling up!! https://www.facebook.com/107314910987863/posts/139304161122271/

24.01.2022 Enrolments are open at Saltwater Swim School

24.01.2022 As you know the club needs a number of new committee members because the majority of the existing committee have/will be moving out of the area during the course of the next year, in which case it would be better for the stability of the club to have new members on the committee instead of replacing members as/when members leave. However, we realise that we haven't posted a "job description" about what each person on the committee does, mainly because apart from a limited number of legal matters that the Secretary would do each role does hasn't been strictly defined by the current committee. That said if anyone would like to know more about what is required to be a committee member please shoot us an email and we'll set out what we currently do, so you will have an idea.

23.01.2022 There is a meeting tonight between the Altona Bay Basketball Association and the clubs about when basketball will be starting and the changes that will be made to comply with Basketball Victoria and the AIS covid-safe guidelines

22.01.2022 Don't forget the AGM next Tuesday, at 6:30 pm via zoom - click the link below: https://us04web.zoom.us/j/5687253551 Meeting ID: 568 725 3551... Passcode: Crocs2020 (We don't need to know if you won't be attending the AGM or nominating a proxy to attend and vote on your behalf)

22.01.2022 Just a reminder that there is a deadline to register players with Basketball Victoria and pay the deposit so that the club is able to order uniforms in time to start playing games - nobody will be allowed to train or play without registering and paying the deposit. https://www.facebook.com/107314910987863/posts/139304161122271/

19.01.2022 The Premier's announcement this afternoon that stage 3 restrictions are being reintroduced across Greater Melbourne mean that basketball training and/or playing cannot now resume, as we had hoped and planned. However, the length of the shutdown may inadvertently help the summer season to start on time, assuming the shutdown works, because it wouldn't be pushed back due to the delayed winter season. The registration link is still active:... https://www.playhq.com/register/7852a5 In light of the above we're asking those parents who paid a deposit whether they want a refund or whether they would prefer to leave the money as a credit towards the summer season. If you want a refund, please send an email confirming your BSB & account number and your child's name to: [email protected] If we don't get an email from you we'll apply the deposit as a credit towards next season's fees. Look after yourselves and your family. We will meet again.

18.01.2022 Good to see some of you have confirmed you'll be at the AGM next month! While one of the existing Executive Committee members hopes to stay on the others are either moving home within the next 12 months or have moved already so will not be seeking re-election. The club will need at least 5 or 6 new committee members so it's important that there's a good turnout for the club to survive.

16.01.2022 We are waiting to receive details about the winter basketball comp... As soon as we know anything we'll post them here!

13.01.2022 Our AGM will now take place by zoom due to the lockdown. To attend the meeting please click on the link below. https://us04web.zoom.us/j/5687253551... Meeting ID: 568 725 3551 Passcode: Crocs2020 (We don't need to know if you won't be attending the AGM or nominating a proxy to attend and vote on your behalf)

13.01.2022 Good evening parents, Junior basketball is coming back in a Covid safe setting!! It has been confirmed tonight that we will be back on court in early August.... All junior players, coaches and team managers who intend to participate in the competition must register via the Playhq link below and pay the Basketball Victoria Licence Fee of $25: https://www.playhq.com/register/7852a5 The licence is valid for 12 months and is a requirement of Basketball Victoria. Without a licence no player can train, or play. Once a player is registered we will make plans to start training. The club also requires payment of a $75 deposit per player so that we can organise uniforms, but there is a 10% siblings discount for the 2nd and more child against the highest fee e.g. 1st child deposit $75, 2nd,3rd, 4th child deposit would be $67.50. The deposit will be deducted from the club fee that is currently $235 (1 child) / $211.50 (sibling discount rate), which includes a uniform, but we intend to reduce the fee once all players have signed up. Fee update: We're now able to confirm the club fees for the winter 2020 season, which is likely to be around 8-10 games long. Under 8's & Under 10's - $179 Under 12's & Under 14's - $199 If teams can't be formed we can refund the deposit, or it can be held for the summer season. Please pay the $75 deposit into the following bank account, using the player's name as the reference: Account name: Saltwater Crocs Netball and Basketball Club Inc BSB: 193-879 Acc: 479 651 816 Due to the imminent start date we need all players registered and the deposit paid by Friday 10th July 2020 with the final balance payable by 31 July 2020. If you have already registered your child/children and paid a deposit, as some if you have, you can ignore this post. Kind regards, Crocs Committee

13.01.2022 Basketball fee update: We're now able to confirm the club fees for the winter 2020 season, which is likely to be around 8-10 games long. Under 8's & Under 10's - $179... Under 12's & Under 14's - $199 The fee includes a uniform (as before) and all on court fees except the Basketball Victoria licence. If you've previously paid a deposit the balance of the fee is due on or before 31 July 2020, which will be based on the new lower fees. The 10% sibling discount will be applied to the highest fee. Registration details are as posted on our previous pinned post.

12.01.2022 With the news over the weekend it seems like a return to training and basketball might not be too far away. Altona Sports Centre is going to be re-opening 22nd June and we are waiting on a reply from the league administrator regarding a possible start date for the winter competition, but we might not be able to mobilise in time as we'll need to order uniforms etc. The committee has already discussed a return to training next month, but we're waiting for confirmation regarding... what measures we'll need to put in place although we've already purchased antibacterial wipes and hand sanitiser. We are keen to get the kids back to basketball as soon as possible.

09.01.2022 Long Post Alert - Important Update The Saltwater Crocs Committee has not yet been advised by the Altona Bay Basketball Association (ABBA) when the Winter 2020 competition will begin, or how long it will last, but we would ask all junior domestic players, coaches and team managers who intend to participate in the competition to register via Playhq and pay the Basketball Victoria Licence Fee of $25 (if you haven't already done so): https://www.playhq.com/register/7852a5... The licence is valid for 12 months and is a requirement of Basketball Victoria. It isn't refundable by the club. We also require a $75 deposit per player so that we can organise uniforms. The deposit will be deducted from the club fee that is currently $235, which includes a uniform. We know that some of you paid a deposit before, which we refunded, but we didn't expect that there would be a Winter 2020 competition! If teams can't be formed we can refund the deposit, or it can be held for the summer season. Please pay the $75 deposit into the following bank account, using the player's name as the reference: Account name: Saltwater Crocs Netball and Basketball Club Inc BSB: 193-879 Acc: 479 651 816 The balance of the fee will be payable in approximately 1 month. There is a 10% sibling discount for registering more than 1 player and the Committee will be reviewing the fee once we know what plans ABBA has for the season, which will hopefully reduce it so please don't pay the full fee now! The above process will enable us to set up teams so that we are ready to go when ABBA gives the green light to go ahead with games. For information about game times please visit our website: https://www.saltwatercrocsnetballandbasketballclub.com/ Please note that the Basketball Victoria registration and deposit need to be completed ASAP, so teams can be finalised by 30 June 2020. If you have any questions please contact us by email: [email protected] The Committee thank you for your patience and understanding during this unprecedented time. We’re confident that with your support we will continue through the recovery that lies ahead. We look forward to seeing you all soon.

08.01.2022 Thank you to those who attended the AGM this evening. We'll post an update within the next few days to confirm the outcome

08.01.2022 Netball update: the Altona Netball Association has suspended all netball activity until 2021, in which case we're unable to offer netball until next year

07.01.2022 Basketball update: As we head towards the deadline for players to register we've received the following information from the Altona Bay Basketball Association: 1st round is 24/25th July 2020... Last round is 16/17th October 2020 Grand Final is 23/24th October 2020 The committee is exploring whether our teams will be ready to play from round 1 - more on this to follow. The game day rules are as follows: 8 players per team 1 coach 1 team manager 1 parent/guardian - no siblings etc 2 X 18 minute halves + half time no outside equipment - no balls etc players must bring own drink bottle attendance record kept for tracing temperature checks on the way in hand sanitiser to be used If any player, coach, team manager, parent/guardian is feeling unwell they must not play or attend training. Any player, coach, team manager, parent/guardian with links to a person with covid-19, a known outbreak at a workplace or school for example of any person who has been been tested and is waiting for results must also stay away from training and games. We will be mirroring the same rules for training sessions except the session will run for 45 minutes straight with drink breaks. After games and training all players and their parent/guardian will be required to leave immediately, as well the coach and team manager. Before the first game and in between each game staff at the Altona Sports Centre will be cleaning the courts.

05.01.2022 The committee is planning on holding the club's first AGM on the first Tuesday after the end of the current lockdown, which will be 25th August. We will post full details of the AGM once we've confirmed the venue, but for now please make a note of the date.

03.01.2022 The AGM agenda has been finalised and is attached. It will also be sent out by email over the weekend. If you are seeking to join the new committee please message us to confirm your name and the role that interests you.

02.01.2022 An update from Basketball Victoria. The committee will confirm when training will be restarting as soon as possible, which will be limited to 2 groups of 10 plus a coach. Full details to follow in due course!

01.01.2022 Thank you to those parents who have paid a deposit, but the unavoidable fact is that more are needed if we are going to be able to field teams in the winter competitions. We appreciate that the the news of the competition being restarted was unexpected but before the shutdown we had collected deposits to field 8 teams although not all of those potential players were registered with Basketball Victoria, which is required otherwise players cannot train or take the court to pla...y. The link for the Basketball Victoria registration is below: https://www.playhq.com/register/7852a5 When training is restarted it will only be available to players registered with Basketball Victoria and who have paid a deposit.
