23.01.2022 Very exciting news from the Queens Birthday Honours last weekend! Shire legend Kerry Bray was awarded an OAM for her service to running and to the community for over 40 years. Cronulla parkrun is forever grateful for Kerry (and her son Damon) who started Cronulla parkrun back in November 2015 and has volunteered at Cronulla many times since. Congratulations Kerry, it is a well deserved honour, and we look forward to seeing you when parkrun resumes.

21.01.2022 Tomorrow is parkrun day! For those in need of a bit of a social connection I’ll be online again while writing parkrun grants from 7am-11am. Then it’s time to tie up my shoes and aim for a new Social Distancing parkrun PB! Watch this space to find out how I do and please share your own socially distancing parkrun experiences! ~ Heather

21.01.2022 Hello wonderful Cronulla parkrun Community! Sadly my schedule this week means I won’t be online parkrun grant writing tomorrow from 7-11am but I promise to be back next week with some fun and exciting parkrun related activities! Have an amazing weekend everyone! ~ Heather

20.01.2022 So who went for a socially distanced parkrun last week? Ready to challenge yourself this week? I certainly am - hoping for a PB on my run-from-home course! ~ Heather

20.01.2022 Socially distancing parkrun event #2 saw all participants (me!) set a new PB. I think it was all due to the parkrun adventures singlet Who else got out for a run/walk today?

18.01.2022 Happy parkrunning to all our New Zealand parkrunning family! Looking forward to when Australia will have the chance to join in too

17.01.2022 Although the weather was a bit gloomy it was a nice way to start 2021 with the re-boot of parkrun at Cronulla this morning after a 41 week hiatus. It was great to see some familiar faces back again and also some new faces, including 7 who did parkrun for the very first time. Welcome Joshua, Sian, Simone, Charlotte, Gabrielle, Vanessa and Liam. 6 runners had clearly been active during the break and were able to punch out a PB on their first run back. Congratulations Max, Tim,... Steven, Ivana, Melanie and Bridget. A big thank you to all our volunteers Kerry, Bell, Daniela, Leanne, Elzanne, Dennis, Peter, Heather and Dan. If you would like to volunteer in the future please message us on this page or send an email to [email protected]. It was our first event under the new COVID Safe Framework and thank you everyone for complying with the new rules and regulations. If you didn’t check in using the QR codes this morning please scan the QR code that is on the post below. See you same time same place next week.

17.01.2022 Blatant emotional manipulation via a puppy, but all for a good @parkrun cause. #Loveparkrun

17.01.2022 Same plan for parkrun morning! I will be up and writing parkrun grants and checking Facebook if anyone wants to connect! Following this I will be heading out for my social distancing parkrun. It’s important to take rest weeks and not always push yourself so this week I am not going for a PB just an enjoyable 5k run. Who else is heading out to get a run/walk/hike in tomorrow? ~ Heather

16.01.2022 We now have a 2nd barcode scanner (thank you Sharon!). Also, tomorrow is "parkrundownunder Day" so all Run Down Under members should wear their Run Down Under merch and gather for a group photo before the run. Run Down Under will generously donate $ to parkrun for each member in the photo.

14.01.2022 Cronulla parkrun community - Saturday mornings are my parkrun time! As many of you know I am also a Grants Ambassador for parkrun Australia and so I will continue to spend my Saturday mornings doing parkrun related things. Most of you do not have this luxury and you may be finding the lack of parkrun to be a stressful and isolating time. So from 7am-11am on Saturday morning I will be available to connect virtually if you are wanting to have a chat! You can post on the page, s...end a message to the page or my facebook account, or email the Cronulla parkrun address. I will be available to virtually hangout should anyone in our community need to connect! Also remember to try and get a 5k in this weekend if possible - staying active is a great way to keep up spirits while we deal with self-distancing measures. I hope everyone is staying safe and well ~ Heather Haines (Cronulla parkrun co-ED) See more

13.01.2022 So who is missing out on their parkrun fix each week - I certainly am! BUT a great way to keep thinking about parkrun is to listen to the parkrun adventurers podcast! There are lots of episodes to catch up on for those new to this pod! Check it out at the facebook page below ~ Heather https://www.facebook.com/parkrunadventurers/

13.01.2022 Well parkrun grants writing morning is off to a slow start due to a failure to turn the kettle on at the wall! I will be trying something new today - writing grant acquittals for events that have already launched but I think I may need to fill this cup up a few times first! I am online (and shortly will be caffeinated and awake) should anyone wish to chat ~ Heather

13.01.2022 So today’s socially distancing parkrun comes with an incident report! Failure to pay attention saw this runner stack it just past the halfway point Cons: I was acting as RD, timekeeper, and tailwalker today - and we all know that the RD isn’t supposed to take on additional volunteer roles! Pros: as always I had some first-aid supplies with me All up a little lost skin and likely a good bruise over the next day or two but I’ll be at the start line for next weeks run with no problems! ~ Heather

13.01.2022 Congratulations to young Bella who completed her 10th parkrun today. And congrats also to Oliver, Daniel, Stevi, David, Emma, Emily and Christine in your PBs. Welcome Julia, Jenny, Meagan and Alma to parkrun. We hope to see you again next week. ... A big thank you to the wonderful volunteers Bell, Sharon, Karen, Leanne, Alan and Michael. Remember to keep an eye on this page for further information regarding next week’s parkrun. Access to Don Lucas Reserve will be restricted due to the concert so we may need to cancel or move the start/finish line. Watch this space!

11.01.2022 I’m all set for some parkrun grant writing while wearing my parkrun adventurers Ugly Christmas Singlet for inspiration. My grant writing buddy is not so sure about these early Saturday starts! He is usually back fast asleep long before the run brief begins! ~ Heather

11.01.2022 We are very excited to be welcoming everyone back tomorrow bright and early at 7am! Under our new COVID Safe Framework we are asking everyone to check in using our QR Code. You can find it below to check in ahead of the event but we will have some available to scan at the event as well. Please remember to follow all other rules and regulations - old and new. Listen quietly to the run brief which will be kept short and maintain social distancing. We won’t be acknowledging mile...stones during the briefing but do let us know if you are running one so we can share on our Facebook page. After the briefing we will move quickly to the start to get everyone going. If you or a member of your household is feeling unwell please stay home - this will help ensure we keep our event running every Saturday. Our volunteers will be set up to help you out also in a socially distanced manner - please respect everyones space so we can all stay safe. A first timers briefing will be held at 6:50 for anyone unfamiliar with the course! Looking forward to seeing you all. ~ Heather and Dan

10.01.2022 Suitable parkrun attire = Caffeinated beverage in a parkrun mug = parkrun grants writing buddy = So I am all sorted for a morning of parkrun grant writing fun! First up an email to a business near a New Zealand prospect to see if they can contribute to a defibrillator purchase

09.01.2022 So something a bit different today! Due to the awesomeness of the parkrun grants writing team I don’t actually have any grants to write today So this morning during parkrun time I will channel my parkrun energy into my everyday life as ‘Scientist Heather’ at my fun and exciting work-from-home station!

09.01.2022 Looking for some parkrun fun this morning - why not give the parkrun quiz a try! It starts at 8am Cronulla time (so a sleep in for our crew ). I have participated in parkrun quizzes before and trust me there was lots of fun to be had ~ Heather

08.01.2022 Happy Friday Cronulla parkrunners! Tomorrow morning I will as usual be on here from 7-11am before heading out for a (hopefully) incident free socially distancing parkrun I would like to put a challenge out to our community for the coming week - when you are out running and walking or just heading to the shops don’t forget to smile and say hello to others who are out and about. I know during this time of uncertainty it can be hard to feel positive and upbeat. For me a gentle...man saying hello yesterday on my morning run as well as a worker at Central train station telling me to have a great day on Tuesday really helped to brighten my mood. We all need to lean on each other right now and a smile can go a very long way! Happy Socially Distancing parkrun this week everyone ~ Heather

08.01.2022 Good Morning Cronulla parkrunners! This weekend I am part of a team taking on the awesome 42.2 in 42 challenge. So I’m heading out the door now to get 5k in - while representing parkrun - but will be online when I get home to share more parkrun related fun! Who else is taking on a running challenge this weekend? Let us know in the comments below!

05.01.2022 Time for me to head out the door and get my 5k in! Who else is ‘virtually running’ parkrun today? We would love to hear about your achievements! ~ Heather

04.01.2022 Today’s social distancing parkrun didn’t result in a PB but also had no incidents to report so that’s certainly a win for this ED! Feel free to share you parkrun experiences and #sweatyselfies here! ~ Heather

04.01.2022 After 15 years of parkrun taking place every single week, like us, you’re probably missing your Saturday morning routine We’ve come up with six ways you can recreate the parkrun experience whilst staying safe in the comforts of your own home http://parkrun.me/tsd6a

02.01.2022 Hey parkrunners let’s talk about milestones! We think they are amazing but for the next while under our COVID Framework we won’t be able to celebrate them during our event briefings. But we still want to celebrate them with you! If you hit a parkrun milestone please let Heather, Dan, or your Run Director know and we will cheer your achievement virtually here on our FB page! Not sure what the parkrun milestones are - ask any questions in the comments or learn more about them here: https://support.parkrun.com//200565303-What-are-the-10-50-

01.01.2022 Armed with the usual essentials and a slightly more awake grants writing buddy this week! First up a grant for an amazing event team working to get a parkrun started in Victoria!

01.01.2022 Hello Cronulla parkrunners - we are all set to restart our event this Saturday, January 2nd @ 7am! The only thing missing right now is a full roster of volunteers. If you can fill an open spot this Saturday or anytime in the coming weeks please let us know by commenting below, messaging our page, or sending an email to [email protected] ~ Heather and Dan https://www.parkrun.com.au/cronulla/futureroster/
