24.01.2022 Today is R U Ok? DAY, a great reminder of the importance of checking in with our staff, families & the children. This year, more than ever , we all need to know it’s ok not to be ok & there’s help on hand , online or on the phone.

22.01.2022 Plenty of birds visit our preschool yard and we've recently been exploring 'BIRDS' from Museum in A Box from #theaustralianmuseumsydney , maybe you'd also like to check our the 'Backyard Bird Count' https://aussiebirdcount.org.au/statistics/ even if you've missed the count there are great resources and information to share

19.01.2022 Learning potential in your very own letterbox! Catalogues are a great source of visual (pictures) and written (letters, words, symbols) literacy,numeracy/maths concepts (numbers, size, shape) and provide a great opportunity to talk about critical literacy 'why this picture?, why this colour?' as well as sustainability (reusing these paper items for other things).

10.01.2022 We are so excited to be a part of this exhibition , drop by the gallery anytime to view the children’s ‘shadow’ art. https://www.facebook.com/64131270336/posts/10159039739440337/?d=n

08.01.2022 Clay is a wonderful medium to explore and create with... and being a little firmer than standard playdough it is fantastic for building and strengthening those fine muscle skills that children need for drawing and writing.

07.01.2022 Looking forward to welcoming our visitors next week , we have a few spots left if you’d like to book in please contact us

06.01.2022 Storytime (via Zoom) with the Kindergarten class at Cronulla South Public School today ... so lovely to be able to connect.

04.01.2022 Name recognition is one of the first whole words a child will read. A child begins this process by recognising that familiar shape of the first letter, often stating "that's my name" as they identify other words that also begin with the same letter eg.Adam and Apple. They then focus on the other letters and finally their name as a full word. This is a powerful bit of knowledge as children begin to identify themselves as a 'reader'. Providing lots of opportunity to engage in meaningful and purposeful use of their name in written form helps build this skill. Putting names on paintings, name tags on belongings, signing in (just like adults do ,especially at restaurants and cafes currently ), writing on birthday cards or shopping lists are all meaningful examples you can try at home too.

02.01.2022 A bee swarm landed in our tree! Thankyou to bee keeper Chris (from Illawarra/Sutherland Bee Keepers)who quickly came and re-homed the queen and her drones to a temporary hive. We will keep a good distance today as the bees will safely settle and Chris will collect the box tonight (once the bees are sleeping for the night) As one child wisely said if we don’t annoy them they won’t annoy us Another interesting question from a child Did you see the queen, and did she have a teeny tiny crown? Thank you amazing pollinators and honey makers for visiting our preschool .
