16.01.2022 Over 150 competing sailors and over 50 race management staff and volunteers helped make the Sun Hung Kai Scallywag Foundation Hebe Haven Yacht Club 2020 Open Di...nghy Regatta a success over the weekend. Racing across 13 classes with 4 different race areas presented a significant logistical challenge for the organisers at Sailability Hong Kong and Hebe Haven Yacht Club (HHYC Official). Racing classes included: Optimist Green Fleet, Optimist Main Fleet, RS Quests, Laser Pico, laser 4.7, open Laser Division, Hansa 303 single handed, Hansa 303 Double Handed, Hansa Liberty, WASZP, 29er, 420, and the 2.4mR. Full results for each class can be found here: https://theclubspot.com/regatta/SRoiBZXYkN/results Each crew member in the top 3 places of a division picked up some great swag from the official Scallywag Race Team gear supplier Sail Racing International. Thanks again to Sailability Hong Kong, Hebe Haven Yacht Club (HHYC Official) organisers and volunteers for holding this successful event and congratulations to the winners and all who participated in the regatta. 15.01.2022 WELCOME 2020 L2H ENTRANT - WINDROSE What a classic beauty to have Windrose in this year’s Launceston to Hobart Yacht Race. Built for Jakob Isbrandtsen in 1959 f...or the explicit purpose of winning the Admiral's Cup, Windrose accomplished that mission two years later under the burgee of the New York Yacht Club - the first time the Admiral’s Cup was won by the Americans. The current owner of Windrose, Ashok Mani, noticed the beautiful Sparkman & Stephens lines of the rotting timber hull on a mooring in Langkawi six years ago and had the boat hauled out before the ocean swallowed it for good. He spent two years refurbishing and bringing the classic back to near-original, including replacing 80% of the planks and frame due to their poor state. Last year Mani raced Windrose in the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race with nineteen-year-old skipper Sam McCracken at the helm. Racing in this years Launceston to Hobart Yacht Race, Mani has been busy selecting crew to ensure the experience meets the demands of this classic racing boat. 12.01.2022 Soooo excited to finally announce that this November my first book Facing Fear is to be released. Published by Australian Geographic this is the gripping tale ...of how I discovered sailing and led myself onto sail solo around Antarctica. This has taken two years to write and I am really proud of how the story developed and I have so far received so much great feedback. Originally the book was titled Demasted, however, after writing it I felt that the title Facing Fear suited the story more so please see below the new cover design. This book is available for pre-order via my website and it will be available at all good book stores November 1st. https://lisablairsailstheworld.com//pre-order-a-signed-cop

07.01.2022 Upon arriving at a marina yesterday morning, any normal person might've taken one look across the bay, made their excuses and headed off to the nearest coffee s...hop. But where's the fun in that??? And besides, it was solid 'SeaHawk weather'. And revel she did in the 20-25 kt breeze with the number 3 and a reef. We looked famous for a while there, peeling from number 3 to jib top, then back to number 3 for the work South to Wattamolla from the Waverider off Kurnell. But then one of the two tracks of the tuff luff (which holds the jib to the forstay) exploded, and a battle ensued with the rampaging number 3 to get it back on deck, fed into the remaining track and back up again before we lost too much ground. Hats off to the trainee foredeck crew for getting the job done! Cronulla Sailing Club See more
