03.01.2022 Are you looking for new ways to make your arts practice stand out? Wanting to draw more people to your web page or events? Writing About Art with Sarah Rice wil...l help you hone your writing skills and develop a strong voice for your own artworks. Three workshops will be held in Yass, Harden/Murrumburrah and Goulburn. A 3 hour workshop to help creatives design written content for the web, artists statements, reviews and grant writing. Artist and Author Sarah Rice will lead creatives using a wide range of exercises to stimulate and encourage creative responses as well as conceptual and theoretical modes of writing. The course will be useful for those running web pages, writing grants, and writing for print with a focus on writing about your own art to stimulate interest in your work. Sarah’s workshop will encourage you to feel more confident and creative in your approach to writing both about your own work and others. This would be useful for creatives to help with writing artist’s statements, grant proposals and art reviews as well as building an online presence for those with or developing web pages. The workshop is just $50 and has been subsidised by the ANZ Seeds of Renewal Grant and Southern Tablelands Arts. Limited Spaces. Sarah Rice is a poet/writer, visual artist and theorist. Her first full-length poetry collection Fingertip of the Tonguewas recently released with UWAP. Sarah won the inaugural 2014 Ron Pretty poetry award, the 2014 Bruce Dawe poetry prize, co-won the 2013 Writing Ventures, and 2011 Gwen Harwood poetry prize, and was shortlisted in the Montreal, Tom Howard, Drake-Brockman, CJ Dennis, New Millennium, Fish, Axel Clark and Michael Thwaites poetry awards, amongst others. Her limited-edition, art-book of poetry Those Who Travel (prints Patsy Payne), is held in the NGA and other institutions. Publications include the Global Poetry Anthology, Award Winning Australian Writing, Best Australian Poetry, Island, ABR, Southerly, Aesthetica, The New Guard, and Australian Poetry Journal. Sarah is regularly commissioned to run creative writing workshops. Clients have included the NGA, NPG, Australian Design Centre, Craft ACT, and CMAG. Sarah also exhibits visual work inspired by her poetry, as well as writing poetry in collaboration with other visual artists, including ceramicists, print-makers, photographers, and letter-press artists.
