24.01.2022 Another writing snippet for this slightly cold Tuesday afternoon. This afternoon's story extract comes from Riley in Yr 6, with his story about a hunt for a giant boar.
22.01.2022 Another story, this time from Lily in year 4. Lily is a talented and precocious writer who enjoys exploring language. The result is a tapestry of words that challenges and tantalises the reader. Lily's story is descriptive and evokes a range of emotions, as she takes her audience on a journey of discovery exploring the supernatural.
22.01.2022 Today as part of our Market Day project work with Gravesend PS, and in light of the difficulties around connecting with other schools, we met online to share and receive information regarding our product ideas. Each of our groups shared their planning and feedback was given via Google Forms that will help our entrepreneurs hone their products and develop their ideas into fully fledged marketable concepts. We look forward to sharing the development across the term.
20.01.2022 Collaborative video created by students from Croppa Creek PS and North Star PS today.
20.01.2022 We are having a wonderful day at the Bingara Living Classroom. We have taken a walk through the different areas of the grounds, observing the different plant life and this afternoon we are looking forward to the opportunity to plant. The facilities here are marvellous.
20.01.2022 As part of our marketing for this year's market day our students have planned advertisements and created jingles. Unfortunately, due to time constraints not all groups have been able to film their advertisements at this point. But please enjoy the completed advertisements from Yumalicious, Minecraft Boyz and Meringue and Candle Bros.
19.01.2022 Our students have been working incredibly hard preparing for market day, to be held tomorrow at Gravesend PS. Due to Covid19 restrictions this is a schools only event. A order form has been sent home this afternoon for any orders that people may like to make. Photos of the products have been included with this post to give you an idea of what exactly is for sale.
18.01.2022 As part of our Market Day project work this term, our students have formed companies that have had to develop business plans before diving in to make their products. Take a look at the high quality work they have performed and be ready for some amazing products to be produced next term for selling.
18.01.2022 Our garden project was postponed in Term 1 as we shifted to Learning at Home, so couldn't complete planned work in developing a wicking bed garden. We had researched what we needed, and during this term we ordered some of these materials that we required to make our own bed. One of our shuttle still sits in Brisbane, a victim of the difficulties around border crossings. We have set up and planted in our first wicking garden and planted exactly the same crops in a regular garden bed. This will allow us to compare directly the effectiveness of our first attempt and hopefully see what a wicking garden can achieve in our climate.
18.01.2022 We have been working on a video to share with the school community to recognise the efforts of our families during the period earlier in the year in which we were asked to lock down and undertake learning from home. There were many highs and lows around this time, and while none of us want to get back to schooling not at school, it certainly was not without its positives. Thank you to our parents who so willingly kept their children safe and at home.
17.01.2022 From today we will be sharing snippets of writing from our students, taken from this year's entries for the Macintyre Young Writers' comp. This year we have an array of stories from the surreal to the real, from the drought to the dramatic. We have stories of cats in castles, hunting for boars, cyclones and an autobiographical tale of difficulties that emerged from this year's lock-down. As always it has been a pleasure watching our students work with their writing and take ...ownership of their stories. Our plan is to produce the stories in their fullness shortly, but in order to give you a taste, the students have chosen their favourite part of their narratives to share with you. First up is Millie in year 6, whose story about a day on the farm where a wild storm wrecks everything was a well told tale that really explored through the descriptive writing the terrible destructive nature of cyclones.
16.01.2022 While market day at Gravesend today was a subdued event due to COVID-19 restrictions, it was still an excellent opportunity for our students to share their hard work for this project and celebrate the amazing learning they have undertaken this semester. Well done to all the students, the increased professionalism from our market day 2 years ago was evident in everything they produced through the project.
15.01.2022 On Wednesday our students took part in a colour run with North Star PS students has part of the 'Day for Daniel' event, raising money for the Daniel Morecombe Foundation who do important work in the area of child protection and well-being.
15.01.2022 With Covid19 meaning that parents and community could not visit the school for this year's Book Parade and Book Fair, here is a look at the day.
14.01.2022 Our students are hard at work getting their products ready for this year's market day to be held at Gravesend PS on Tues 3 November. This is unfortunately a stu...dent only event due to Covid restrictions. We hope to be able to share the students work back here in Croppa Creek that same week. See more
14.01.2022 Congratulations to these amazing young writers who have all won recognition in this year's Macintyre Young Writers’ Comp. They all wrote fabulous stories which we will be sharing in full this from this week in our newsletter.
14.01.2022 Only two more sleeps until our students arrive back at school for another year of learning. This year we welcome two Kindy students. The video at the following link has some useful advice for these new students, as well as for any of our more experienced students who just want a refresher. We can't wait to see everyone on Friday for the first day of the term. https://players.brightcove.net//OWhV6pOpP_defa/index.html
14.01.2022 Next in our series of extracts from this year's Macintyre Young Writers' Competition entries is a tale from a fabulous young writer, Katie in Year 5. Katie has a wonderful way of putting words on a page that engage and intrigue the reader, even when not much is happening in the narrative. This year's story drew heavily on the drought we have experienced over the past few year, a testament to a young mind that keenly observes and thinks about the world going on around her.
13.01.2022 North Star PS school visit next Wednesday, for a day of staff professional learning mixed with student learning, and fun/ socialising. This note is for parent information and a hard copy will be provided Monday for signing.
13.01.2022 On Friday these 4 swimmers travelled to Goondiwindi for the Macintyre Swim Carnival hosted by Yetman Public School. After the turmoil and cancellations of last year it was lovely to be back with other schools and their communities, albeit at a truncated event. Our 4 swimmers did amazingly well, trying their best, going in almost everything and having fun as well. Congrats to North Star PS who were the overall winners on the day, while the magnificent efforts of our swimmers saw Croppa Creek narrowly win the handicap trophy. And Jack was named the Junior Boy Champion for the day and will be representing the school at the Moree Zone Carnival to be held in Warialda this week.
11.01.2022 After our market day today, we still have availability on some product lines. The pictured products are all definitely still available. If you are interested in purchasing for a snack, gift or just to support our amazin students, please message, ring or email the school.
10.01.2022 We want to hear from all NSW parents about their before and after school care needs in light of COVID-19. Complete this form to help us improve access to services for public school students: https://bit.ly/32JNpsZ *Posted by the NSW Department of Education*
10.01.2022 Thanks to Croppa Creek Classic-A Walk back in Time for hosting the students from our school and Tulloona PS today for our visit to the Classic Harvest. The stu...dents were very interested in the range of machinery and how they function compared to the modern equipment. We are so lucky to have an event that captures the history of our region so well right on our doorstep. See more
09.01.2022 "Learn as much as you can about the culture and participate." - Aunty Deanna. Each year, NAIDOC Week celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, who are part of some of the oldest continuing cultures on the planet. #AlwaysWasAlwaysWillBe #NAIDOC2020 *Posted by the NSW Department of Education*
09.01.2022 Our next entry from Marshall in Yr 6 is about the experiences that go into making pigging a great activity to do with your mates. Part of this is the funny and irreverent stories that you walk away from a hunt with. And Marshall's story is certainly funny.
08.01.2022 Fantastic news out of Warialda this morning, where Jack has been competing at the McKechnie Shield, the Moree Zone Swimming Carnival. Jack was entered in the 50m freestyle and breaststroke. He has finished 2nd in his freestyle race, an amazing achievement. He also finished 4th in his breaststroke. Well done Jack, we are all very proud of your efforts and for how well you have represented the school.
07.01.2022 'It hasn’t been easy, but look what we’ve produced!' Thank you to all our students, teachers, school staff and parents and carers who have made this a year to remember. See you next year for #FirstDay2021! #LoveWhereYouLearn *Posted by the NSW Department of Education*
07.01.2022 Back in March, pre Covid, our fabulous P & C started the next phase of the upgrade to our school entrance by removing the grass from this area to install a spri...nkler system and lay new turf. No one would have anticipate the delay in this project that was wrought by Covid19, but we think you will agree the patience was worth it. Thank you to the helpers who prepared this area for laying, the P & C who generously funded this projct to help beautify this area and give an amazing first impression to visitors to our school. 07.01.2022 From classroom desks to dining room tables. See how the students, parents and teachers from these schools navigated online learning, and what they learned together along the way. #EdWeek20 *Posted by the NSW Department of Education*
06.01.2022 We had an excellent morning at North Star PS today. K - 2 worked in the K - 2 classroom, the highlight was some writing. For 3 - 6 students, today’s adventure was in film making, something we have previously spent a lot of time on. All the students were engaged and working hard, planning and creating iMovie trailers. Thanks to the students of NSPS for letting us share their learning environment today.
06.01.2022 The attached picture is for the information of our students as to what Gravesend PS students will be selling at market day tomorrow.
05.01.2022 Our next story extract is an autobiographical tale from Shyan in Yr 5, reflecting on her year with Covid, lockdown and a long journey to recovery with a broken leg. The story is written with a humour that often only someone self-deprecating can achieve.
05.01.2022 From the first day of school to the home stretch of Year 12, we're ready for you! Check out our #FirstDay2021 resources on https://bit.ly/39JXTug. #LoveWhereYouLearn *Posted by the NSW Department of Education*
05.01.2022 We had a wonderful day at North Star on Friday for the Small Schools Combined Athletics Gala Day. It was great to be able to catch and compete with friends and acquaintances, albeit tinged by the lack of school community involvement that would have heralded a return to normalcy. Despite this negative, our students really enjoyed taking part in the activities on the day. It was fantastic to see students of all ages trying their best and making the most of the day. Congratulations to North Star PS who were the overall points winners on the day. It was most pleasing that our students took home the handicap result on the day, wherein points are averaged to give a fairer opportunity for different size schools. This was a testament to the effort, sportsmanship and willingness to participate of all our students. Well done everyone.
04.01.2022 After the fire comes regrowth. See how Grafton Public School welcomed Baryulgil and Nymboida Public Schools, providing a safe haven for students from fire-affected communities so everyone could learn together and recover. #EdWeek20 *Posted by the NSW Department of Education*
03.01.2022 Thank you to North Star PS students and staff for sharing a short Remembrance Day Ceremony with us this morning. Students from 3 - 6 learnt about the history of Remembrance Day along with some of the symbols that signify commemoration prior to the ceremony.
02.01.2022 Continuing with our series of extracts from this year's Macintyre Young Writers' Competition entries is Jack;s story about a fishing trip where the fishermen got more than they expected.
