23.01.2022 Mallet make Peter showing everyone his latest invention - a pink flamingo mallet

21.01.2022 Hi just an update to let you all know that this years pennant has been cancelled and will be reviewed by the pennant committee in January 2021 as to whether we cancel it completely, or try and play it in starting February or August 2021.

21.01.2022 Today March 16th saw our Annual President v Secretary Challenge. Due to the Corona virus this is to be the last official day at Croquet for the next few weeks. Despite this a good day was had by all. Once the draw was done (4 pairs each side), play commenced. Like all tournaments friendship disappeared once play commenced. After 3 games per pair play(well most had played), stopped for lunch. Thanks Allan for your assistance in cooking our BBQ lunch, Brooksy, Barb C for laying out the plates and afterwards Lyall for washing up. As we went on it was game for game, but after lunch things began to change with the Secretaries team forging ahead finally winning 12 games to 4.team. Peter/Paul, Gerry/Lyall, Sam/Brooksy, Fred/Barbara - Secretary's team. Brian W/ Barb C,Virginia/Ingrid, Neil/Jim, Tony/Rita - Presidents

21.01.2022 To all our Croquet friends and family near and far have a great Christmas/New Year. From the President, Committee and Members of the Wonthaggi Croquet Club

20.01.2022 Another busy week for the club. Monday evening we hosted the Wothaggi Girl Guides. We had a great turn out of girls and members to give the youngsters a hand. They had a ball. Then Thursday we hosted the Rotary Club for our traditional come and try evening and dinner. The weather wasn't that kind to us this year and on the chilly side. Still despite this we had a great turn out of Rotary members and our members. I would say that 90% of them all joined in for a game. We... must say thank you to or resident "Chef" Brian on preparing dinner of Chicken and salad's followed by dessert, our Fund raising committee on the raffle and finally everyone who helped set up, washed up and packed away. Now we can have a rest until the President v Secretary Challenage on March 16th and then our Open Doubles Tournament over the weekend of March 28/29 (Plenty of Vacancies) See more

18.01.2022 What a few busy weeks we've had. Two members attended the Drouin Blaze aid fun day. then we had a few new members who have joined our ranks of mad Croquet players. Welcome. Then their were a couple of new members and recurring members to the Red Undies Club, a fun evening with the Girl Guides and with the Rotary Club come and try night to come on Thursday. Then we must congratulate Tom on his win at Traralgon over the weekend, winning all of his games and now carries a handicap of 8. Unfortunately Neil wasn't quite so lucky in his section, but he did Wonthaggi proud. We still have to come the President v Secretary Challenage, Korumburra Singles and finally our Open Doubles. We still have vacancies so please please register at [email protected] (March 28/29)

17.01.2022 This weekend 4 members traveled to Korumburra to participate in their doubles tournament. Neil & Virginia were out to defend their title from last year. And y...es they did it, but only winning on hoops from Ria (Warragul) & Gary (Leongatha) and Gerry & Sue from Wonthaggi. All with 4 wins and 2 losses.Neil & Virginia net hoops 11, Gary & Ria net hoops 5 and Sue and Gerry net hoops 3. Well done everyone, and thank you Korumburra for running a great tournament, and it was lovely catching up with all our friends from all over Gippsland See more

16.01.2022 Yesterday we celebrated Australia Day with a fun day, bbq lunch and lots of fun. Despite the weather lots of members turned up, and by 11am the rain had gone, the sun was out and the fun began. A big thanks to Allan for cooking the BBQ, who has been roped in to cook again next week at our Club singles championships. While we were having fun, Tom Lacey and Paul Andrews were completing at the annual Australia Day tournament at Cairnlea.

15.01.2022 We welcome a new member to the red undies club. Welcome Brian Davidson. Brian along with existing member Brian Newman unfortunately never made a hoop in yesterdays first game of the day. Bad luck guys. Next Sunday we will be celebrating Australia Day in the inaugural Australia Day Big Breakfast curtsy of Barb F, Jenny C and Sue C. Should be a fun day

10.01.2022 Believe or not our Red Undies group gained another 2 new members today. Neil and Jim, that's 3 in one week. Virginia's getting worried that her doubles partner for Mornington might have to go back to school

09.01.2022 Saturday saw 4 members travel to Mornington C.C. for their doubles tournament. For Sue this is her 5th time Brian and Virginia their 2nd and Neil his first time. It was lovely to catch up with friends from other clubs. Unfortunately the Sun Gods weren't with us, but it didn't rain. Many thanks to Pam and all her helpers for putting on a great tournament again. Congrats to the Frankston pair on winning for the 3rd time. Look forward to trying again next year.

09.01.2022 Yesterday we held our Club singles Championship. All games were level play and untimed. The entries were split into 2 sections. Section 1 Paul Andrews,Gerry Kool, Peter Donovan and Tom Lacey. By the end of all games Peter, Gerry and Paul all had 2 wins, but Paul and Gerry were tied on everything so they had to have another match to decide the winner. In the end Paul beat Gerry on the 13th hoop. Well done Gerry

08.01.2022 The Traralgon Croquet Club Golf Croquet winners for 2019

07.01.2022 Hi Friends the Guidelines are now set in place and we have the Council's blessing to get back to Croquet on Monday following very strict guide lines. Thank God it's all ok even if its only 10 players per day. See you next week

06.01.2022 The President, Committee and tournament manager have cancel our up- coming doubles tournament set down to be held the weekend of March 28/29th, due to the Coron...a virus until further notice. 06.01.2022 After a 2 year break we held our Open Singles tournament. The numbers fluctuated that in the end it was decided to run it with 6 entries in both sections and both sections playing each other twice. This worked out a treat. We started out on Thursday with a big working bee getting everything up to parr. Thanks everyone who helped. It was lovely to see over the 2 days that lots of our members either came to watch or help out. Saturday started with our President Barbara w...elcoming everyone. The weather was lovely and sunny although cold. Virginia kept the kitchen running smoothly making sure that everyone had lots to eat. Whereas on Sunday it was Brian (our Vice Pres) in the kitchen making lovely fresh scones. Sunday the weather started out windy and cold, but it wasn't too long before the wet weather gear came out and by the last game the heavens opened. The final results were very interesting, and when you look at Saturdays placings to the final results they certainly changed. Section 1 was won by Julie Beasley of Warragul from Robert Smallwood of Morwell and in Section 2 it was our own Tom Lacey from Charles Armstrong of Traralgon. Finally we must say a big thank you to our referee Merry from Leongatha who had her work out to keep and eye out on Section 2. And finally thanks to the fund raising committee for the great raffle. 03.01.2022 Our new mode of transport to tournaments. We might have to hire a driver, what about Neil. He could try it, and drive us to drive to Mornington for their doubles?

03.01.2022 Last Sunday we celebrated Australia Day with the full works, breakfast (snags, eggs and bacon) cooked by our 2 chefs, Allan and Tony - great stuff. The buns were toasted by Jenifer ably helped by Anne. Once everyone had consumed their fill we assembled around the flag pole for the raising of our National Flag and the sining of our Anthem (music supplied, along with lots of traditional Aussie music by Jenny & Buster). Although one or 2 did try to sing "God Save the Queen". Then off to the courts with lots of fun games and friendship. Thanks to Barb F, Jenny and Sue for organising the first of many Oz Day celebrations. Ozzie Ozzie Ozzie. And finally thanks to the ladies who worked in the kitchen and tided up.

03.01.2022 President Barbara checking the dinner to be dinner to the Rotary Club on Thursday evening

02.01.2022 Last night saw the conclusion of the inaugural Twilight doubles tournament. Each time played the other teams once over the past week Thursday evenings. The Dragons, (Peter & Sam), Dumb & Dumber, The wineos, The 3 Micks ( Barbar, Fred and Mick) and the sea shells, (Paul & Keith). With the first place going through to the final and 3 and 4 playing off to gain a place in the final. Dumb and Dumber (Neil & Tom) made it through as the first finalist which meant The Wineos (Gerry &... Sue) [who else would have a name like that] had to play off against the seashells (Paul & Keith). With the Wineos coming out on top. The final was to have been last week, but with the temp in the 40's it was decided to play last night instead. The format was 2 singles each and a doubles. Gerry won both his singles, while Neil & Tom both beat Sue. But as everyone knows Sue doesn't play singles. So it was down to the doubles. No pressure with several club members coming along to watch and Tom's wife in full vocal form yelling out go dumb and dumber. Gerry scored the final hoop with the score 7/5. Well done to Paul for organising such a fun tournament. The next twilight comp will take place on a Tuesday starting in March, and we hope to see more teams joining in. See more

01.01.2022 Today saw the final of the Golf Croquet pennant between Traralgon & Warragul. Although this year the match was held at Morwell instead of Leongatha. A repeat of last years final with Warragul out to defend their title. Unfortunately Traralgon had other ideas. Again Michael from Traralgon had the wood over Russell from Warragul. What was great to see was the support from Wonthaggi, Korumburra, Leongatha, Drouin, Warragul, Traralgon and Morwell. This year the honours went to Traralgon with 8 wins 80 hoops to Warragul 6 wins 73 hoops
