24.01.2022 As we were unable to celebrate our fourth birthday together members were set the task to photograph something pertaining to the number 4 in their isolation homes or out on their walks.. Here is a selection including Denis celebrating his 74th birthday to Chris getting ready four play .



23.01.2022 What is fast becoming an annual event,while our lawns are undergoing maintenance, club members enjoyed a day of Beach Croquet.. Players learnt early to read the slope of the courts and after a walk to the waters edge the power hitters reduced the strength of their shots.

22.01.2022 Christmas has arrived early with the completion of our perimeter fence with thanks to grants from the Tasmanian Community Fund and the Latrobe Council

21.01.2022 The C grade Golf Croquet Pennant has finished for this year. Congratulations to the nine members ( Marie,Keitha,Francene,Pauline W,Lynette,Jenny. Robyn L, Susan and Denis)who have competed over the last 6 weeks. We may not have won but we did have fun.

19.01.2022 Congratulations to the Club Golf Croquet Medal Winners..Malcolm Maney (Gold) Bobbie Campbell ( Silver) and Keitha Nicholls ( Bronze)



19.01.2022 Latrobe Club has held its Division1 & 2 Golf Croquet Championships over the last four days with a total of 20 competitors.The Division 2 Comp was won by Penny Anderson (5 wins) from Robyn Lamprey,Marie Day and Robyn Coffin ( all on 4 wins) Today spectators sheltered from the strong winds to watch the tense final match between Malcolm Maney and Curtis Mead with Curtis taking the Championship with a hoop from the boundary at the 13th. Curtis heads off to WA next week to compete in the Australian U21 Competition.We wish him good hitting .

17.01.2022 The Club conducted its Bronze and Silver Golf Croquet Medals today. Congratulations to Denis Walker ,who too k the Bronze on hoop difference from Marie Day while Flick Green won the Silver with Dee Gibson in second place.

17.01.2022 STATE GOLF CROQUET CHAMPIONSHIPS Nine Latrobe players competed in the Tasmanian Golf Croquet Championships over the weekend. All played well ( but there is some hard-luck stories) with Curtis & Flick playing off in the Division 2 semifinal ( under watchful eye of the Patsy & Chris Referees). Curtis made it to the Final only to lose his only game for the weekend

16.01.2022 The Club completed its Medal Competition with the running of the Gold Medal this weekend. While we started in the rain and wind we finished under sunny skies with 3 players on 5 wins . The Gold Medal was awarded on hoop difference to Elaine Berridge ( 16 net hoops) from Patsy Paine ( 12) and Malcolm Maney ( 10).

08.01.2022 The crowds (plus the plovers with their 4 chicks )gathered at Latrobe to watch the State GC Mixed Doubles Competition.After winning the all Latrobe semifinal 7-6 against Dee Gibson and Michael Maney . Flick Green and Curtis Mead went on to win the title with a 1-7,7-4,7-5 win over Ruth McKean(North Esk) and John Colquhoun( Eastern Shore)

07.01.2022 Due to the current restrictions the Annual St Helens Weekend Competition had to be cancelled. Our club organised a covid friendly get together with beautiful weather, lots of yummy food and some great croquet and we are looking forward to hosting the St Helens Club at Latrobe soon. Note. Work is well underway on their third lawn so next years Competition will be bigger and better than ever.

06.01.2022 Clubs Christmas celebration at Shearwater Resort, Port Sorrell

06.01.2022 While our lawns are closed for maintenance we packed up our mallets and balls and played some Croquet on the Mersey Bluff Beach. The slope was a little bit challenging, lawn(sand) damage was easily repaired and yes you can do a successful jump shot on sand. One onlooker took photos to send to his mates in England (is that a bit cruel when they are in winter and in lockdown). Games stopped when the waves were lapping the sideline .

05.01.2022 Last week seven members played in a knockout Association Competition for the Clive Sherry Memorial Trophy. The Final was played between Brian Rubock and Steff Anderson with Steff winning with a golden hoop .

04.01.2022 Latrobe held its Club Golf Croquet Competition over the weekend.Elaine Berridge and Brian Rubock were undefeated to take the trophy with the next 3 teams all finishing with 3 wins. Second place was awarded to Ivan McLeod and Dee Gibson ( on hoop difference and the fact it was Madame Presidents birthday)

03.01.2022 We have been blessed with so lovely Tassie autumn sunshine for our return to playing socially distanced croquet with no more than 10 people

03.01.2022 The Club held its Golf Croquet Doubles this week. Patsy Paine and Chris West remained undefeated to take the A division and Malcolm & Jenny Marney won the B Division (on hoop count) from Pauline Wright and Vicki Roberts

03.01.2022 In lieu of a Christmas Parade Latrobe has asked Community Groups to decorate a shop window with the theme Stockings and Stars. This is the Croquet Clubs window in the Latrobe Bakery with thanks to Penny & Frank Anderson
