24.01.2022 CBD Online Zoom sessions - more than just a workout. Here at CBD, we aren’t just pre-recording instructions and we aren’t just watching you workout. Our coaches are continuing to connect twice-daily via Zoom with our members but this isn’t just about seeing their faces and it isn’t just about our members seeing each other either. It’s all of those things and so much more.... This is about our coaches being able to continue coaching our members. This is about continuing to teach which is what we have always been about and that is what we will continue to be about. Just because our coaches are now teaching virtually doesn’t mean they are going to throw an at home workout at you and hope for the best. They are still writing lesson plans (more detailed than ever to provide more options and flexibility). They are still teaching progressions and they are still striving for our members to have the *best* movement possible. Which means, they need to see you move, so they that can cue faults and continue to coach. This has challenged your coaches cuing and seeing, but for development - fantastic. They are seeing this as an opportunity to get better and be better. They cannot wait to see you online soon! #collectivelystronger @crossfitcbdmembers
24.01.2022 What is your intention? Just doing workout after workout after workout, day after day isnt going to get you what you think its going to get you. If you were to ask yourself WHY you are doing this extra workout, this extra work in general, would you know the answer?... Knowing WHY you are doing something is the ONLY way to ensure that you are doing your workout, doing your skill session, endurance session etc in a way that will actually be conducive to achieving your goals. Having a purpose, an intention for your training is the ONLY way. The only way to hit it with the right intensity improve your technique improve your pace improve your mindset STOP competing learn *your own* data learn nuances that improve your times and performance (cycling, linking, grip, resting times etc) be a better, stronger and fitter athlete Stop doing volume for volumes sake. #forvolumessake

20.01.2022 Relative intensity [almost never] applied as much as it does right now. Why? Because our members have come off of *almost* 9 months of at home, Zoom-style, limited equipment workouts or even a complete clean break. #thankscovid Which means, coming back to the gym is going to look different on everyone. We have members who haven’t touched a barbell since March, haven’t been able to practice and perform pull-ups/muscle-ups and other forms of gymnastics. Due to space constraint...s, even box jumps have been off the menu for some. We would be crazy to throw them back into all of that straight away, without taking into account what their last 9 months have looked like for them *individually* Relative intensity, in our current situation means holding back in certain areas [on purpose] to ensure that we take care of our members and ensure that they are *ready* It’s too easy to think that those 9 months haven’t made a difference, but they have - for all of us. So today, instead of Nicole, we programmed Strict Nicole, because kipping has been almost impossible for everyone and so, it would be irresponsible of us to program it. [we know our guys would want to dive right back in - I mean, who wouldn’t? We’ve all missed it!] But their lovely shoulders, are not quite ready yet. We will continue altering our programming until the time is right for our guys and as always, each workout is going to look different for each individual, because our needs differ and they always will. They pushed hard regardless though. 4:30pm aftermath featuring super healthy and happy shoulders! #relativeintensity #smartprogramming

03.01.2022 GUYS....We turned 8! For real though, it was our 8th Birthday last week and so this weekend we are having a Birthday Party!! Im pretty sure my 8th Birthday party consisted of hair braiding, black lipstick, the Spice Girls (you know I knew all the moves to this), Gina G (ooh-ah!) and California Love...lets just say I had eclectic taste.... While I cant guarantee there wont be any Spice Girls on the playlist, I can guarantee that we will be celebrating CBD style! A partner (or team) WoD to end all partner/team WoDs, lots of fun and laughs and a BBQ to finish. 01.01.2022 Starting Tomorrow (for 3 weeks) CrossFit CBD will be partaking in the @crossfit Support Your Local Box Fundraiser via our group 9:00am Zoom virtual session. Registration is now open on games.crossfit.com/open and will remain open for the duration of the competition. Anyone can participate in the Support Your Local Box Fundraiser... and payment is not required. The idea being that many may be facing financial difficulties at this time and this ensures that everyone has the opportunity to participate without barriers. The more the better! However upon registration everyone will have the option to select a contribution amount ranging from $20 to $1,000 or they can simply participate at no cost. Participants can also select the affiliate they would like to receive their contribution. Once the competition closes, the proceeds will be distributed to affiliates in accordance with their roster of supporters. CrossFit, Inc. will distribute all registration funds to the designated affiliates. If you havent already registered, head to games.crossfit.com - sign in and complete your registration. This is going to be so much fun to complete as an affiliate with all the other affiliates who have closed their doors temporarily around the world! Lets do this together.
