25.01.2022 Member of the Month Our August Member of the Month has been challenging himself with his training by stepping outside of his comfort zone and identifying when he needs to scale with the help of our fantastic coaches. Gavin Reed's gymnastic skills have improved dramatically . As a result, Gavin has been smashing the workouts day-in day-out. And once he is finished, he supports his fellow athletes still pushing through until they are done !... Congratulations Gavin on being August's Member of the Month!!!

A goal for kassie Wagner was hit a PB for double unders of 50 in a row. She not only got she could have easily kept going if it wasn't for the WOD being 50 double unders . ... 25.01.2022 Tuesday Tip - Get the right gear We aren’t saying you have to go out and splurge on a new wardrobe or buy the latest and greatest CrossFit shoe but it is important to be able to train comfortably and safely . It’s recommended that you wear something that you can move comfortably in, in a range of movements - squatting , running , jumping ect. ... Then for foot wear it’s a good idea to look into a set of training shoes that can be used across several different exercises. A running shoe can be comfy but not stable during weightlifting such as squats, deadlifts ect. Other helpful items that you might want to invest in down the track are some gymnastic grips to help protect your hands when your on the rig!! Wrist wraps can also be another great investment when learning proper technique in weightlifting - these will help stabilise and protect your wrists. If in doubt have a chat with your coaches or fellow box mates

20.01.2022 Tuesday Tip - Onboarding If your still unsure of jumping straight into a CrossFit class a great introduction into CrossFit and getting to know your coach is an onboarding program. This is specifically designed for beginners and most boxes will offer this . ... At CrossFit 4740 we offer an onboarding program that runs over 3 one on one or small group sessions, we teach you all the basic CrossFit movements and get your prepped for your first class . However if you are keen to jump straight into a group training atmosphere then that is no problem!! Qualified coaches are there to keep an eye on you!

20.01.2022 Member Achievement On the weekend just gone, Crossfit 4740 had many of our athletes compete at the EFL competition hosted by Crossfit CQ . Crossfit 4740 had 3 teams finishing on the podium:... Kristy & Caitlyn in female scaled pairs Ben & Jake in male rx pairs Christee & Courtney in female rx pairs. Special mention goes to Matt, Dylan, Jade, Jess, Ruth and Trinity who competed in their first crossfit competition. You all did so well and are so proud of you all

10.01.2022 Tuesday Tip - Log Your Results Logging results can be super helpful in your fitness journey and help you see how far you have come since you began CrossFit. Often there is a strength cycle that is being followed or certain workouts get repeated so tracking and logging your results can show where you have improved. ... It’s handy to know what your time was last time, the weight you used, the amount of reps you finished in order to estimate your starting point for the next time! At Crossfit4740 we use an app that not only shows the workout you are doing but you can log all your results and they are there for you next time you do that movement or workout.

He has only been with us for a short time and has a strengths back ground, it’s his continual hard work on his gymnastics side which coming long nicely and it shows how hard he is pushing outside of his comfort zone . Her gymnastics and strength are both next level. Jodi smashed out a 60kg clean and jerk into a hang clean and split jerk with determination . ... We are inspired and proud to announce Jodi Fergus as October Member of the Month .

01.01.2022 Member Achievement The fantastic thing with Crossfit is that everything is scalable regardless of where you are or injured. Even if you are injured, take it as an opportunity to focus on other movements which can do with a bit of attention. ... Coach Kurt has strained his knee, but that hasn't stopped him from training and getting PBs. He makes this 190kg deadlift for 3 reps look easy as. This was his 1 rep max. Needless to say, he was just a tad excited for it ! Nice work Coach Kurt !
