23.01.2022 Being strong is a lot easier when you surround yourself with people who support you, cheer for you and help you push beyond your comfort zone.

22.01.2022 Congratulations on Rochanne getting her first ever leg less rope climb. Being able to pull your whole bodyweight up a rope, is no joke.

22.01.2022 It’s not the people who finish first that get the biggest cheers. It’s the ones who finish well. #community

19.01.2022 J. F. Kennedy We choose to go to the Moon... We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard; because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one we intend to win, and the others, too

18.01.2022 Shoutout to Kathleen, this amazing woman just turned 80. She trains 4 times a week, every week and has the local record for the most park runs in Albany! Her sports are 10km running, discus and javelin. Super dedicated, sees herself as an athlete but amazingly humble and with a great sense of humour. Inspires us weekly! ... Happy birthday See more

18.01.2022 If you think lifting is dangerous, try being weak - Unknown You are either getting stronger, or getting weaker. There is no stasis. The benefits of strength training are huge, there is no pill that can ever compare. Start the week right and get after it.

17.01.2022 CLASS TIME CHANGE: From this week, Mon/Wed/Fri V8 Endurance will start at 8.45am and run for 30 minutes. This means you can back it up with a CrossFit session at 9.15am should you want to smash those goals

17.01.2022 People often think this is what CrossFit is, this is what you have to do day 1. Let me tell you it’s not, 90% of our members are not doing this. But they are doing the same workout ... We encourage a concept known as scaling, whereby you pick an appropriate choice for your fitness abilities and slowly build on that. ... Here’s what it looks like from the handstand push-up. 1.) Incline Box Pushups 2.) Knee Pushups 3.) Toe Pushups 4.) Decline Pushups 5.) Pike Pushups 6.) Handstand Negatives 7.) Kipping Handstand Pushups 8.) Hand Stand Push-up Everyone starts at a different level and the goal is to reach the next rung of the ladder. So you don’t have to be fit to do CrossFit, our job is to make people fit.

16.01.2022 Periodically we do a week of testing, this allows us to see where people are strong and what needs some work. We don’t leave fitness to guess work, we know our athletes are getting fitter. Here is Richard lifting 135kg at 73 years young.

13.01.2022 Start your day right. Get after it

12.01.2022 You’ll never work as hard as when you train with other people. If you want to maximise results, surround yourself with people who inspire and push us to be our best. Not only that, it’s way more fun! If you struggle with motivation to train solo or feel like you are plateauing in your results, come on down and say hello!

12.01.2022 Working out should be fun! Make sure you have the right mindset when you train, coming in to the gym to try and burn calories from the weekend is not the most sustainable way to think. This implies you have to do horrible cardio as punishment for food choices. Of course you’ll never want to go the gym. ... Try this rather! See training as a medium where you can literally turn yourself into a stronger, faster, happier and healthier person. Train skills! Learn something new! Conquer some fears... Celebrate the small mile stones in the journey and record your improvements. Have a fun day guys!

11.01.2022 During and after in today’s interval session! You can see their souls leaving the body mid wod. Well done squad! #ghostsexist #highspeedlowdrag #sweatangel

11.01.2022 Keep showing up and amazing things will happen! #1%bettereachday

11.01.2022 It’s not easy to wake up before the sun on a cold rainy Monday, get in your car and drive to the gym. But nobody ever got fit by hitting the snooze button... It also helps when you know your buddies are going to be there getting after it. Well done to the v8 crew achieving fitness.

11.01.2022 Saturday’s Powerhouse Workout

09.01.2022 Sometimes it’s easier not to come. It’s easier to stay in bed, or go straight home to the couch after work, or it’s simpler to stay home and clean the house. But when the session is done and it’s time to breathe you will realise how glad you are that you showed up.

09.01.2022 Whether you want strength gains, body fat reduction or to build your endurance. We have a plan for that. Better yet, you don’t have to go at it alone.

07.01.2022 2 years ago Trav struggled in our warmups, now he inspires us, making anything gymnast look easy 2 years of smart training and consistency, where will you be? Don’t wait till January. Start your journey now.

04.01.2022 We offer optional extra training as part of our daily workout, it gives everyone an opportunity to work on their specific goals. Here’s Rochanne Berecz making pistol squats look easy. #watchthisspace #firebreather

03.01.2022 Massive shoutout to Tim, He started with us only 4 months ago as a total beginner. Tim was ready for a change and put himself out there and joined CrossFit. ... When he started he struggled with 15 air squats, most techniques were foreign to him but he embraced it and listened to the coaches. Tim started with light weights and short distances but kept showing up for class. Fast track to now. Tim went from running 200m to running 5km. He has hit a personal record on all his lifts. He did a workout with 220 squats in it, previously struggled with 15. He managed his first pull-up He has lost over 20kg! The video is of Tim carrying 125kg. Kudos to him, he was determined. He was consistent. He stuck to his plan. Congratulations buddy. Can’t imagine what you’ll be doing in another 8 months ! #everydayheroes

02.01.2022 Training shouldn’t be this mindless uncomfortable exercise you do as a punishment for enjoying your weekend. It doesn’t have to be this way... Why not train because you enjoy the feeling of getting stronger? Why not have fun, get sweaty and actually look forward to coming to the gym? Weird right? Well no, it’s not. We program different workouts everyday, very rarely we repeat unless we test. ... You’ll even get two different classes running most days at the same time. Fun for everyone. So go out there and enjoy your training!

02.01.2022 We prioritise technique over everything else, here is Nate breaking down some key points on the handstand push-up and how everyone can adjust it to their level. If you think you are not fit enough to do this, you maybe surprised. Our youngest member is 18, our oldest is 80. Never stop learning new things!

01.01.2022 What is scaling and why is it important? Here in the Engine Room we encourage scaling the workouts. Basically it is simply making an exercise harder or easier. This can be done with weight, bodyweight progression or even distances. ... It is important to scale as no two people are the same, we all come with a history of training or lack there of. Niggles, injuries or medical issues play a major role. It’s also important to maintain the intended stimulus of the workout. If we program intervals that take 2 minutes or less and you end up doing 4 minutes. You aren’t doing the workout as it was intended, therefore not reaping the fitness outcome. We have a rule in the Engine Room to check your ego at the door. It means picking sensible options and use good technique. This will allow you to keep training in a healthy, long and sensible way. You’ll feel better and perform better inside and out the gym. Remember we write the workout to challenge the 1% of the fittest in the class, the other 99% are meant to scale from there Our awesome coaches can show you how to scale each workout to make the workout tailored to you. Here’s an example of scaling Wall pushups Incline pushups Laying knee pushups Laying toe pushups Strict knee pushups Strict toe pushups Plyo pushups Clapping pushups Feet elevated clapping pushups
