25.01.2022 Push through to completion. The key to success is to start before you are ready. And it doesn’t come from what you do occasionally. It comes from what you do consistently. You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. Strength comes from your struggle. When you learn to see your struggles as opportunities to become stronger, better, wiser, then your thinking shifts from I can’t do this to I must do this. So... don’t you dare give up on yourself. Keep pushing hard. And with every experience, you alone are painting your own canvas. Thought by thought , choice by choice. Let’s go forth and continue doing the hard stuff, because we know it’s good for us.
24.01.2022 The glutes-hamstring developeralso known as the GHD, is potentially one of the most underappreciated, undervalued and misunderstood pieces of equipment found in a CrossFit box. The GHD is extremely versatile and has the capacity to develop both the entire posterior chain (Back, Glutes, Hamstrings & Calves) and, on the reverse side, the abdominals and hip flexors. The GHD is often ignored by athletes in the gym because the machine itself is intimidating, but mainly due to the... fact that most people do not fully understand the capabilities of the GHD, nor how to properly execute the intended exercises. And, that is where we step in.. As coaches, it is our duty to allocate development time for our athletes to educate them on how to use the GHD in a safe and efficient manner, so that they are all able to take advantage of the numerous benefits that this machine provides. Strong posterior chains = strong athletes. #learngrowsucceed
23.01.2022 Being strong is better than being weak. And struggling gives one strength. These days will go down as the days that defined us. They can make us or they can break us. Whilst today's decision regarding the lockdown of the state may come as a disappointment, it didn't really come as a surprise to any of us.... So what to do now? What we always do. Stick to sound fundamentals. Because to accept our reality is the fastest way to work with it in order to achieve the best possible outcome. Sure, we could give up and do nothing, but that would not move us any closer to our goals. Instead, we persist and persevere, because that's who we are. Instead of waiting aimlessly we stick to our plan where our leaders fail to give us one. This gives us direction and purpose. We focus on what we can do, with what we have, where we are. And what we "do" now is continue to use what we've got in order to "struggle well". We have friends, families and supporters nationwide who feel for us, and who are also proud of our efforts and stoicism everyday. We move forward because moving forward is to "do good" and is the right thing to do.
23.01.2022 12 Days of Christmas WOD done for another year. Merry Liftmas everyone!
22.01.2022 What a glorious day to be out appreciating the beautiful scenes of the Bass Coast! Where are you using your fitness today?
20.01.2022 Nothing like a chill weekend, moving our bodies and utilising our health and fitness to explore the sights the Bass Coast has to offer #crossfitbasscoast
19.01.2022 Training for the unknown and the unknowable. Because nature has no regard for rep ranges, combinations of movements or equipment... And, it’s fun!
19.01.2022 Wind, rain, social distancing, wearing a mask, burpees on concrete, limited equipment, uneven ground.. We hear you, this outdoor training stuff is hard beyond the workouts. You signed up for a gym to workout in a space with adequate equipment, rubber floors, amenities, and a supportive community to workout alongside you. We can’t thank our members enough for being so patient. We are navigating this time the best we can and we’re so grateful for your understanding.... Just know that the day our doors can open, will be the best day ever.. The rain will be falling on the roof and not our heads, the barbell won’t be rolling down the drive way and the burpees might not even feel so bad once we’re back inside on the rubber flooring! That day will come soon, in the meantime let’s keep attacking.
18.01.2022 Listen with an open mind and encourage action. The most meaningful relationships are achieved when you and others can speak openly to each other about everything that’s important, learn together, and understand the need to hold each other accountable to be as excellent as you can be. When you have such relationships, you pull each other through challenging times; at the same time, sharing challenging work draws you closer and strengthens your relationships.... This self-reinforcing cycle create’s the success that allows you to pursue more and more ambitious goals. Listening is the most important thing you can do. Check in, offer support and encourage action. #RUOkay
15.01.2022 First workout back feels, eh? It’s always going to feel a little harder after some time away, however we assure you that the longer you procrastinate on doing hard things, the harder they become. Book your spot in class.... Pack your gym gear. Grab your water bottle. Lace up your shoes. And step out the front door. The first one back is always the hardest, but WE CAN do hard things and we promise it gets easier. We got you
15.01.2022 Hero WOD Michael today, HomeWOD edition of course. It rained. We got wet. ... But we got it done. Can we just have our gym back already @danielandrewsmp ? #openvictoriangyms
15.01.2022 A rising tide lifts all ships. It’s that simple, raise your tide, and watch the ships around you begin to rise as well. We believe in the values of teamwork and in the power of encouraging and supporting one another. You will find that as you help others achieve their goals, it will help you succeed in ways you did not anticipate.... Before your rising tide even begins to lift others, it lifts you up first: your success breeds more success. A rising tide will lift all ships, not only one. And, if enough of us raise our tides, we’ll lift a lot of ships!
13.01.2022 When the Premier announces restrictions to ease, yet gyms still remain closed
11.01.2022 Hands up if you’re ready for Victorian gyms to be open already!? #openvicgymsagain
10.01.2022 Holiday hours can be found on our website www.crossfitbasscoast.com
10.01.2022 Update: Sunday October 18th. Despite a raft of changes to restrictions being announced for Melbourne and regional areas by Premier Dan Andrews today, we have not been given a lifeline update on when we can reopen. Regional Victoria is currently in Third Step Restrictions, which prohibits indoor gyms and fitness facilities from opening but allows pubs, cafes, restaurants, beauty and personal care businesses to open. This is despite there being no cases of community transmissi...on for many weeks, even months in most areas and no hard evidence to show that gyms are even a high-risk environment. Currently across all regional Victoria, there are only two local government councils with any active COVID cases over the past 14-day period Mitchelton and Greater Shepparton. In fact, more than 20 councils have not reported more than five cases since the pandemic began. This puts the rolling average for regional Victoria at a low 0.6 with no unknown cases. Let’s not forget that, unlike any other sector, fitness facilities have the ability in the unlikely event of a member attending gym with COVID, to advise relevant health authorities within an hour of the names and contact details of every other person in the facility at the time and following the visitation period. It is not just this unique contact tracing capabilities that justify why regional gyms should be open, with recent research commissioned by Fitness Australia demonstrating: 62% of Victorians rated going to the gym or their local fitness studio as their top three most missed activity. 1 in 3 have experienced a decreased sense of connection as a direct result of gym closures while 20% experienced feelings of depression. A number of negative impacts on physical, mental and emotional wellbeing including Muscle loss (51%), physical weight gain (50%), a decreased overall sense of wellbeing (47%), increased stress/anxiety levels (42%) and stamina loss (37%) 54% have experienced a decrease in the motivation to exercise during lockdown An impacted feeling of safety when exercising outdoors, particularly amongst shift workers 20% of the sample were shift workers who said the gym offered a safe and secure environment gyms compared to training outdoors. Prior to the lockdown period 89% of members exercised at least 3 times a week. During lockdown this fell to 70%. To date there has been no justifiable explanation as to why regional fitness facilities cannot open now. Aside from the Premier deeming our industry as unsafe. Although the above data clearly demonstrates the need for gyms to reopen for the community’s physical and mental wellbeing, here we are .. Closed without a re opening date. We apologise and will continue to update you all as soon as we have clear information. We feel your frustration and implore you to reach out if you need.
09.01.2022 Happy Birthday @allie_cairnduff
07.01.2022 Today char took a photo of me from behind. I'm lifting a heavy weight above my head, I look in control, I look strong. But today this was not the truth at all, during this workout everything inside me said you can't do this, I didnt know if I was gonna start crying or just crumble to the ground. But I told my self just 5 more. Just 1 more round. You can do this.... I knew if I finished and finished well I'm not only getting stronger physically but I am also mentally.... I push through at gym because there are days I cant get out of bed because my mind has me stuck in a dark hole, and I remember the days like today at cross fit, when i feel like I can't... but I actually can! and I'm reminded that I am capable in all aspects of my life. Lifting a weight above my head or climbing a rope dispite how tired I am teaches me that I always have more to give. So if you ask me what cross fit means to me, I'd answer with " EVERYTHING". I was once told to surround myself with supportive people who want to see you win in life, and that's what I've done, these crazy people I surround myself with care for me, laugh with me, sweat with me and cheer me on. I've been lucky enough to find all of these things I once searched for right here at my Cross fit gym. To me my cross fit gym means Everything. - @beccy.slavin

03.01.2022 Outdoors or in, it’s just so good to see our people getting after it. One thing is for certain, we’re better together
03.01.2022 Happy birthday @leighdonohueofficial
01.01.2022 Motivation is overvalued. Environment often matters more. When it comes to pursuing goals, what often matters more than discipline and willpower is the environment and people we surround ourselves with on a regular basis. It is important to remember that the environment drives our good behaviors as well as our bad ones. People who seem to stick to good habits with ease are often benefitting from an environment that makes those behaviors easier.... Meanwhile, people who struggle to succeed could be fighting an uphill battle against their environment. What often looks like a lack of willpower is actually the result of a poor environment. Our aim is to provide you with an environment that challenges, inspires, educates and extends you. You can be confident that when you walk into our gym, we'll be here to give you the best hour of your day, each and every day.
