22.01.2022 GRAND FINAL DAY!! Last weekend, Brooke competed at the grand final for Indoor Netball Federation of QLD! She is apart of the Ladies Premier A team - Arundel Breakers and they were up against Brisbane West.... The Arundel Breakers were the underdogs of the night with only 1 season under their belt as a team. It was going to be an uphill battle as Brisbane West have played together for 10 seasons. It was a tight game to begin with, but unfortunately Brisbane West broke away with a lead of 48-33. Well done to Brooke and her team Arundel Breakers!

Dean is always one of the first and most keen in the doors at 5am, always helpful in setting up the class and inclusive and friendly to all members. ... . Through isolation Dean was one of our most motivated and determined members, he never broke his habit of training at 5am even when the gyms were closed. If you know Dean you know he has a love for Crossfit but especially his Rower. Rowing is his favourite erg which if you follow his social media you will see how he continually tests different capacities on it, not to mention nasal breathing. 19.01.2022 Next athlete of the month goes to Kate Deanshaw This time was a difficult time for most of us as we went into isolation and this is where we were really tested with our motivation. Kate stayed consistent through the 3 months and this showed when coming back when our doors opened. Kate is a regular 9.30 athlete, when it comes to consistency she ticks all the boxes... One of Kates strengths as an athlete is the ability to learn quickly. Kate pushes herself to be better everyday, and never shying away from a challenge. I participate in the CrossFit Open every year and have recently taking up weightlifting competitively. Achievements:... - 2018 1st place Senior Mens QLD State Championships 62kg division - 2019 1st place Senior Mens QLD State Championships 67kg division - 2019 Senior Mens National Championships 67kg division - 2019 Arafura Games Qualification Credentials: - Certificate III and IV in Fitness - CrossFit Level 1 Trainer - CrossFit Level 2 Trainer - CrossFit Kids Trainer - CrossFit Gymnastics Course - CrossFit Weightlifting Course About me: I was unfit and weak when I began my CrossFit journey. I was not a gymnast, a weightlifter or an athlete in any sport. I couldnt run a mile without walking and I could not pick up my school bag without rounding my back. I was not able to train more than twice a week for quite a while and I had asthma attacks regularly in workouts. I cannot count the ludicrous mount of times that I have written DNF (Did not finish) next to my name, on the whiteboard for a workout because of asthma, back pain or the workout was just generally too hard. Fast forward some years later and I train everyday, twice a day, run a mile in less than 6 minutes and deadlift over 3 times my body weight. It will be a year this September since Nikki joined CFI and became a regular at the 5am class. Nikki came to CFI already addicted to the crossfit bug and fitted in well with our programming and our members from the start. ... It was great to see a focused and driven person come in and acclimate well. With managing study and work down the Gold Coast or the while living in Ipswich Nikki made sure she got her daily training fix. Nikki never seems to give up and showed this even more by training around an injury and never letting it be an excuse not to move. 02.01.2022 ATTENTION BOX TALK Athlete Of The Month Announcement. I know its late per usual but better late then never. Can we please give a big congratulations to our February 2020 Athlete of the month. Mr Adam McLean... Adam has become one of the regulars at the 5am class. Fitting in well with all the other early birds and fellow jokers. (Troy and Dean). After a little hiatus from fitness he has settled in nicely with the CFI programming and his results are one to watch and to push fellow male athletes. So why athlete of the month? We have had the pleasure of sharing some pretty cool moments at CFI with Adam. From regaining good health and fitness, to Breaking his arm pushing the guys on a clean, to his first bar Mup, to consecutive Bar Mups and lets not forget the 2020 Beer Wod. We were reminded recently as CFI reopened after CVOID-19 just how far Adam has come on his journey with CFI. It shows that keeping up a good 5am routine with someone to keep him accountable will keep bringing the results as Adam is moving and looking better then ever.
