24.01.2022 |Want to learn butterfly pull ups| This is a great drill to learn the movement for butterfly pull ups. Firstly you need to be STRONG ENOUGH, your muscles, joints and ligaments need to be strong enough to withstand butterfly pull ups. You should be able to do 5+ strict pull ups and 15 + chest to bars before you even attempt butterfly’s. Once strong enough you can now start to do drills like this one to learn the movement which can be tricky. Constant exposure is key #ledbylight #cflight #strong @arampano

20.01.2022 | Sore from training? Here’s what to do| 1. MOVE, blood flow is king , being inactive can make the soreness stay around for longer, circulation and blood flow play a key role in the mechanism for for repairing the body. A great way to speed up recovery time is to get outside, unplug and go for a 60 min hike or do an around the world workout (listed below) 2. Prioritise sleep, sleep is the most important tool we have for healing. Not only can sleep deprivation cause a w...hole host of health issues including reduced metabolism and weight gain, it also reduces our bodies amazing ability to recover from stress. 1-2 hours of sleep dept each night can accumulate into a large deficit, the first sign of this will be a low motivation to train and decreased performance in the gym. #cflight #ledbylight #crossfit #instafitness #strength #strongcommunity #fitness #fitnessmotivation #gains #decide #commit #succeed See more

19.01.2022 Our latest blog - The importance of interval training Written by coach jake, head to the link in our BIO to read. "A great tool we can use to improve our work capacity, build quality volume and dial in our pacing is through the use of intervals. This is often an over looked tool within the world of Crossfit. Work capacity refers to something very understood in the gym: Pace. We put a lot of emphasis on pace. If workouts are shorter, we want to go hard and fast. If workouts... are longer, we want to be able to maintain a steady moderate speed throughout. What ends up happening most of the time is, athletes will start to slow down. That is a natural response to fatigue. But in CrossFit, we are always striving to delay that response, so we can get more work in before we start to slow down. That is work capacity. Keeping the pace, faster or slower, as long as we can." See more

17.01.2022 Why scaling is one of the most IMPORTANT things in a CrossFit gym: Sadly, the word scaling is often demonised and can be a negative term within a CrossFit gym. This could not be any further from the truth. We find that there is a lot of confusion about why we scale. Coaches scale a workout for their athlete because of mobility limitations, technique, strength, intent for the workout and current skill level. For each athlete there is a different reason to scale a workout an...d they ALL are for YOUR best interest and YOUR Progression. A well-educated Coach will be able to guide their athletes to appropriate scaling options that are correct for them. Don’t take this as a negative! It’s on of the most important things you do in the gym. And EVERYONE has to at some point #ledbylight See more

14.01.2022 |Show up and do the work| Great job to @phoebebloinkhollier on getting her first ring muscle up. She has been working super hard lately, showing up consistently and listening to her coaches. @_atlascoaching_ has been working with her after class the last few weeks. Now she is reaping the rewards. #ledbylight #yeahthechamp

13.01.2022 Toes thru rings are a great exercise to help with toes to bar. They teach you how to kip smoothly and efficiently. They also create global flexion (a sit up movement) which is what is needed to do a toes to bar. Before you do this you must make sure you have the compression strength in your midline, you may need to work on L sits, knees to elbow, v ups and tuck ups first. Give these a go if you need to learn the movement and already have the strength required for a toes to bar. #ledbylight

08.01.2022 |Change through hard physical challenges| This is our meditation, it is just exercise on the surface level but it goes much deeper than that. 08.01.2022 |SCAP PREP MADE SIMPLE| Try these 4 scapula prep exercises a go. This is highly effective for a quick 10 min warm up for your shoulders that is complete. 07.01.2022 Let us say it again- STRICT BEFORE KIPPING. Build that base, yes it takes a long time and yes it’s hard. But you are soooo much better off in the long run. Lay the foundation #ledbylight

07.01.2022 |Programming principals| Here at CF LIGHT we program a little different to most other affiliates. We run 6 week training blocks; 5 weeks of training followed by a week of testing (every 12 weeks we have a big testing week). Now it’s our goal as a gym to make people BETTER at CrossFit and BETTER at the specific qualities within fitness. We want you to get rewarded for your hard work. For us to ENSURE you get better we follow a similar progressive format week to week for the... training block. In order to improve certain qualities we have to prioritise them which means part of a block requires that some things are focused more on whilst others may go into more of a maintenance phase in order to create enough stimulus to drive adaption. It’s of our belief that doing random stuff week to week will find you random results and can actually make you worse. So it depends what the goal is.. Do you want flashy and fun workouts that give minimal results (the market has you believe this is what makes you better which isn’t true) or do you want MAXIMAL return for your effort. Do you want to improve the specific qualities within fitness? E.g Olympic lifts, strength, gymnastics and work capacity. If you want to get better then there has to be progressive structures in place to ensure this. Any questions on program design feel free to myself or @_atlascoaching_ a message we are happy to help! @j_mcmurray8 #ledbylight

06.01.2022 |Full effort full victory| Effort is a choice, I absolutely love that saying. All we ask for is for our members to give their full effort to us each day. We don’t care about how fit you are, we don’t care about how strong you are. That’s all relative to the individual. ... What we do care about is that you give us the best effort you can each time you walk into the gym. - That’s what’s matters. - #ledbylight #cflight @meveleighintl @millymichalak See more
