24.01.2022 #membermonday Hello! I am Bianca, more commonly known as ‘B’. @wilderlove I am a born and bred Queenslander (Go Maroons!), moving to Melbourne when I was 18.... I grew up playing a lot of sport in and out of school, especially tennis as my stepdad is a coach. I now work for a Global Advertising Holding Group where I head up the amazing Content & Sport division for ANZ. As well as my team, I live day to day wrangling 4 boys (2 dogs, a small child and a husband) and I still love playing sports of all kind! I have a black belt in MMA, take ballet lessons and am dying for touch football to get back up and running so our team can defend the championship for the third year running. I’m proud to say that I am what I refer to as a ‘Lockdown CrossFitter’, being enticed by @filbo_ to join a friends and family session when we first went into lockdown back in March. I loved it so much I became a ‘Zoom Member’ and won’t miss a session Monday-Saturday (that’s a lie, I did miss one Monday because I had food poisoning ). The best things about CFM are the variety of the programming, the adjustments to movements to suit different levels of experience and the positive, caring and knowledgeable coaching from Sara, Kyle and Josh. On top of that, the CrossFit family they have created are so welcoming and downright hilarious at times. It’s such a strong community that you don’t feel like you’re working out every day, you just get excited to power up your laptop each morning! My parting motivational quote that I blatantly stole from my friends Instagram account, so feel free to continue the chain of theft and take it for yourself. Ever since reading it I can relate it to most situations in life; the good, the bad and the ugly: Chin Up. Stand Tall. Shoulders Back. See more
24.01.2022 #membermonday - Hi my name is Emma and I've been a member of Crossfit Moorabbin since 2018. I plucked up the courage to join after months of deliberation and fear of trying something new... however it's been one of the best decisions I've ever made and I've been totally hooked ever since! - By day I work with people who are blind or have low vision as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist- and by evening I work as a gym instructor. ... As a gym instructor (teaching Les Mills Body Pump and Body Attack) with body building background, I turned to crossfit as my next challenge. It's improved my fitness beyond what I could have imagined and I feel much fitter and stronger in the classes I teach. - Being a bit of a germ-a-phobe, crazy cat lady, I was surprised to find myself so obsessed with a place that's a little bit grungy, with always a dog running around! It's got such a welcoming community and I've made many forever friends, bonding over some of the many grueling but fun workouts. The best thing about CFM are the people and the workouts that never fail to challenge. See more

23.01.2022 Our lives are vast, so are the goals and aspirations. These goals, visions keep changing with time and take attractive shapes. Rightly so, if our goals were to stop, we would lose a drive which constantly keeps us energetic and alive. It would be a shame to lead life aimlessly and lose control over it. With every passing moment in life, we have gained experience, knowledge and a network of friends. Everything we have done so far has paved a way for us and led us here. ...The question is, where do you want to go from here? Do you want to blame the effects of old age? Or do you want to simply look at the goals you want to achieve and focus on them? To hell with challenges, create opportunities! Remember, you get what you focus on. It can be your reasons, rationalisation or the sheer beauty of your goals. The real question is what do you really want? Do what you love to do and what makes you happy! See more

22.01.2022 Merry Christmas from our family to yours #crossfitcommunity
21.01.2022 It's very easy for us to get caught up in feeling that the only way to move forward is by . . . moving forward--or up.But when it comes to our training, it's often the steps backwards or sideways that can generate the most momentum and satisfaction. If you feel stuck just simply go back to basics and master them before moving forward, this will help you to eventually progress and move to more complex movements.

21.01.2022 INTRODUCING Coach Sara @saralinnea_ Hey! I'm Sara. A girl who have a huge passion for food, fitness and a healthy lifestyle. I’m born and raised in Finland. I am a CrossFit athlete, nutrition coach and a CrossFit coach. I’m a very adventurous person who love’s traveling, exploring and trying new things. I’m constantly looking for ways to educate myself in health and fitness. ... I’m born and raised in a smaller country town called Sipoo in southern Finland, where I spent most of my childhood out in the nature. When I was 28 I quit my day job as an accountant to give myself some time to focus on my own training and moved to Bali, lived the Bali life for 8 months before I got bored of the Island life and needed a change so decided to head to Australia and travel around for a while while working when needed and eventually I ended up here in Melbourne, that I now call my home. You can say that I wasn’t really into health or fitness until at age 22 when I felt that I needed to get healthier and lose a few kgs. I tried a couple of different things like Muay Thai and some running but didn’t really get excited about anything until one of my friends asked me to go and try this CrossFit thing. I was hooked straight away and not really by the training part but by the community. So basically, what made me train more back then was the people/friends I’ve met at the CrossFit gym haha. Qualifications * Health Mindset Coaching Certification * WAG Coach Certification NUTRITION COACH CERTIFICATION PROGRAM 2020 * Precision Nutrition Level 1 NUTRITION EDUCATION PROGRAM 2019 * CrossFit Level 1 * CrossFit Mobility Course 2015 * Finnish Weightlifting federation WEIGHTLIFTING - COACH CERTIFICATE LEVEL 1, 2014 See more

20.01.2022 #membermonday Hey I am Nat Richardson! I have been doing CrossFit for about a year and a half after I joined CFM at the start of 2019. ... I grew up in Melbourne where I spent my childhood training and competing as an elite gymnast and represented Australia in both gymnastics and trampolining/tumbling. After finishing school and being declared ‘too old’ for gymnastics I turned my focus to surfing and spent several years overseas chasing some of the best waves in the world. My love of the surfing lifestyle led me to spend the next 15 years on the Gold Coast, living the dream! I returned to Melbourne just over 5 years ago after having my two kids and feeling the need to be back around my family. Professionally, I am a designer, product developer, auto upholsterer, shoemaker and leather artisan and I have my own business for all of those ventures but I am actually a qualified Optician! The best part of CFM is 100% the people within it, every single person there inspires me in their own way, every time I train. I just can’t wait to get back in the gym (and away from home school) and get back to smashing goals!! @ CrossFit Moorabbin See more
20.01.2022 #membermonday @courtneyrenewalker Originally from country NSW, moving to the big smoke (Brisbane) when I was 18. I’ve spent a lot of my 20s travelling and partying before I settled in Melbourne - knowing just two people; just because I thought it was a pretty city. I’ve been a member of CFM since 2018, walking in during an open and seeing everyone doing all this crazy stuff, I was like what did I get myself into.... I used to run, swim and cycle a lot! By day I am a content creator for the Country Fire Authority which has afford loads of opportunities and is kinda how I found CFM. By night, I bake, cook and before COVID, I loved to get out of the city as much as I can. Having people push me when I don’t want to do it anymore - but seeing my own progress over the last 2 years has been so motivating. I love that I knew no one when I came to Melbourne and now I don’t feel so foreign anymore and CFM has a big part in that. Someone said to me once, don’t stop running even if you could walk faster than you are running just don’t stop. And it’s kinda always stuck with me. Mind over matter always. See more
20.01.2022 membermonday @luka_and_i My name is Jean-Alain (but call me Jean / John). Accountant by trade. Live in Chelsea with my partner Brendan and our dog Luka the French bulldog. ... Been doing Crossfit for 3 or so years now. Started at Crossfit Hawthorn East before we decided to move closer to the beach. Then joined Live Right Crossfit in Cheltenham, which was awesome. They then changed hands to Red Bluff which sadly didn't work for me. Then found CFM. Interest outside the gym? Well can't do much at the moment. But I love travelling, really missing it at the moment love hanging out with my mates, pubs, dinner out, movies oh and the beach. Lucky I'm just 12 mins walk away from the beach. My goal is to loose at least 5kg, tone up and get stronger. My motivation is taking it a day at a time and see where it takes me. Eating all the ice cream and chocolate doesn't seem to help haha I'm still sussing Crossfit Moorabbin it out. But so far so good. What motivates me: I like to put a sign "No Jean, No! in front of the cookie jar I'm a manager in our Business Advisory & Tax Services for a medium size accounting firm, and I also have my own public practice that I run from home. So anyone wanting accounting or tax advise, I'm your guy. @ CrossFit Moorabbin See more
19.01.2022 #membermonday Heyya, I’m Lachie. @lakelend I started training at functional/CrossFit style gyms in May 2017 and joined CFM in the earlier months of 2019. Before that I always played heaps of sport growing up but never really went to a ‘gym’ as such. Around the time I started training I had made a decision to just ‘start’ doing the things that I wanted to do and had been putting off or thinking about doing for a while. I’d seen one of my friends start training around then... and getting super strong extremely quickly so I replied to her story on IG one day letting her know how awesome it was to see her kicking goals. Her next question to me was, when are you coming down? and I replied Tomorrow. - the rest is literally history. Now I couldn’t imagine my life without proper exercise. It’s something I look forward to everyday and is an absolute necessary outlet for my existence. Outside the gym I make music. I grew up playing in different bands during high school then went on to play in bigger acts spending most of my time between 2014-2019 touring the country/overseas. Earlier this year I launched my own artist project under the moniker ‘Lakelend’. Honestly, the number one reason I train is to keep my head in check. I also love to push myself and the feeling of hard work. Not to mention the mental game we as humans play with ourselves when things just aren’t easy as well as the way in which we can navigate through that. As far as my training goals go, I just want to keep progressing and enjoying my time in the gym. I’ve had some shoulder injuries in the past so I aim to keep moving forward consistently and improving in any way I can. I love the fact that I can come in, feel super comfortable with my surroundings and basically be in my own world but present for the duration of the class. It’s my one hour during the day where I switch my focus to one thing, that’s it - a sweet escape. If there’s one thing that I got the opportunity to tell people, it’s that you can literally do anything you want to do if you put your mind to it. See more

19.01.2022 #membermonday @filbo_ My name’s Filip Sarna, I’m a Polish migrant who grew up in Adelaide before moving to Melbourne in 2009. I work at a global media buying group, personally specialising in social media strategy. Outside of the gym I’m a huge Formula 1 nerd; I’ve watched every race since I was 5 years old! ... And I’ve recently taken on rebuilding a 41 year old motorbike. I don’t think it’ll ever be finished though! I joined CFM in 2012, walking in as a stranger having only ever done one CrossFit session elsewhere a couple months earlier. Instantly I felt at home, guided by an amazingly knowledgeable group of coaches, and welcomed by the friendliest drama-free community I’d ever experienced. And it’s this that’s kept me there. I have the greatest respect and admiration for Kyle’s methodical and structured approach to programming and coaching. And his choice of coaches that complements this has always created an environment of knowledge and care that I haven’t found anywhere else. I’ve toyed with the competitive side of CrossFit in past years, but during this lockdown period it’s been a great time to settle back and focus more on self-care and supporting one another in our close-knit community. Seeing everyone’s smiling faces every morning on-screen has kept me sane, and I can’t wait to see them in person back at the gym soon! @ CrossFit Moorabbin See more

18.01.2022 #membermonday Hi. I’m Francesco or Frank (whichever is easier) I’m 54. I think I’m in my 30s and act like I’m in my 20s / but I wake up like I’m 70. I came to CFM in April 2019 as a casual during the CrossFit Open. Those Saturday mornings were insane. I was so intimidated. There were all these amazing people doing amazing things, music pumping and so many smiles. I stood back and watched (shitting my pants) For the couple of years before, I had done what I thought was Cros...sFit at a regular gym using Instagram and YouTube posts. And I thought I was so good. I had no idea. In May that year I came on as a full member. I’ve had a few career changes since I finished school in 1984. I took a year off to work and travel, but it ended up being work and clubbing. I then went to study Architectural Drafting which I was so close to completing before I realised I didn’t enjoy it anymore. I spent 6 years in an insurance company which was boring. I then went back to hospitality and spent 20+ years, running restaurants and bars. I am a full time dad to 2 boys - Sonny 13 and Miles 10 - and my Staffy Lola - and they’re the best. I love soccer and basketball and though I’m no longer playing, I’m enjoying coaching the boy’s teams. I love running the Spartan races and hope to get back into that in 2021. But the thing I love the most is travelling. Seeing the world and now taking my boys along. My motivation is the way my body is moving at the moment. I’ve gone from trying to smash every session, to slowing down and learning. I love learning. I’m having a few of those yay moments lately and for that I thank all the coaches past and present. This year I’ve set myself a goal of competing in comps. I think this would be so much fun and is way out of my comfort zone. The best thing about CFM is the 100% the people - from Kyle and the coaches who guide me and teach me- to the person whose name I don’t even know, that is there encouraging me - and the dogs. Love the dogs!! If you’re doing a running WOD - do not walk into the gym gym chatting to your mate after the run! Run all the way in - trust me. And the last one is the one that hurts the most! 18.01.2022 #membermonday Hi everyone my name is Faye Vanessa Blair most people call me Vanessa. I have been at Crossfit Moorabbin for more than 2 yrs now though I was never part of the Crossfit family (I was training with Tara's small group). At first, I was hesitant to join because I felt like everyone is an athlete and yes it's a bit intimidating. Finally I have the courage to join last June and since then I have no regrets. ... I am from Philippines and my family moved to the U.S. during the 80's. I was sort of adopted by my grandparents and I had the most amazing childhood with them . I graduated in Uni with 2 degrees Bachelor of Arts major in Mass Communication and Bachelor of Science in Nursing also a Masters degree in adult health nursing which straight after I finished my masteral, my husband asked me to marry him hence why i moved here in 2008 . I met my wonderful husband in Phils while he works as an ex patriate. I have never been in a gym only until 4 yrs ago and since then it has been a very big part of my happiness. I cannot imagine myself not working out. I love to shop if that counts as a hobby And looking after my kids lol since I don't work / not employed My goal is just to lead a healthy lifestyle. Fit people impresses me for I know how hard and dedicated they are to what they do. I wish I have some of the discipline!! I workout because I enjoy it a lot! Everyday I’m always excited to wake up because I know I will be going to the gym Best thing about CFM? The people and the trainers You guys are very welcoming It does feel like a family Life is what you make it Take everyday as it is and Instill happiness within yourself See more

These PT sessions are here for you, to work on whatever movements or skills you personally want work on. Whether it is barbell technique, getting back on those heavy weights, get your ass kicked by our coaches and on top of that some well needed socializing. Shoot us a message for more info and if you wish to book in a session
18.01.2022 We love a strong core Yes it is nice to have a six pack specially for the summer but more importantly your core muscles are the base of support of your entire body
18.01.2022 Our potential is flawed because there are holes in our ability to move well and perform given movements. Therefore we are good at one thing and not good at another. Until we put the effort into things we are not good at we will always be one step behind what our full potential could be. It’s better to be good at everything than be the best at one thing! We will get better because we work on the things we are not good at.

17.01.2022 #membermonday Hey everyone, I’m Michael...or Mike...or Mikes. I have been doing CrossFit ever since returning from living in the UK. I started in 2014 at Crossfit Knoxfield. Then moving houses I made the choice of change boxes in 2018. I heard all good things about CFM so I decided to join. As always heading to a new place is always rough but over time the members there were lovely and inviting so it made it feel like home. ... I’m an Aussie born guy with Chilean heritage. As for work, I am an Associate Nurse Unit Manager working in the Coronary Care Unit at MMC. Aside from crossfit, I have been getting into a lot of running during lockdown. I have recently started cycling and officially started pottery again! Like everyone else, catching up with family and friends is also a very big interest and something very important to me. The things that motivate me are the people around me, positive vibes and encouragement amongst each other! Im always setting goals to work towards and feeling a great sense of accomplishment once completed. The things I love about CFM are the people. When entering those doors and seeing smiling faces is what makes this gym what it is. I love the encouragement that everyone gives to each other whether finishing first or last. Lastly, my favorite line to use at CFM is what’s the time cap I love to have a time cap, as I love competing against myself and pushing my boundaries and always trying to make sure I can finish under that cap. Looking forward to seeing everyone once again! See more

15.01.2022 #membermonday I am Lockie @lockiew , I have been doing crossfit for about 18 months now with CFM being the first place I have tried crossfit. I am a recent graduate Osteopath and have lived down in Chelsea my whole life. I played football for 15 years until stopping a year ago. I needed some form of competition which is why I loved crossfit. ... I also like running, this year I have created some goals to run a 50km and hopefully a 100km race. I have also dabbled in triathlon completing sprint, half and full ironman distances. What motivates me is keeping an active lifestyle which helps me do lots of cool things without wondering whether I am capable of doing them. Keeping up a high level of fitness is important to me. Best thing about CFM is the people and Kyle’s programming. It’s definitely second to none. Also you can bring puppies in. I’ve always liked the saying, treat others the way you’d like to be treated so giving a fist pump or some words of encouragement at the gym is always appreciated I think. See more

15.01.2022 #membermonday Hey everyone. I’m Jo, JoJo, Joey (depending on who is talking to me lol) About 2 years ago I came to CFM to do some some metcon training and PT with an amazing human and ex CFM athlete Tara Jenkins who I have always been inspired by. While Tara was away competing I came up to just do my own thing when I was persuaded by the 6am crew to come join the for a session. To say I was instantly hooked is an understatement. I thought I’d feel intimidated and in a... place like this there’d be a lot of big egos, but the crew and coaches made me feel instantly like part of the family. I had found a new home. I love the craziness and the laughter we have so early in the morning. It’s the best way to get the day started. I’ve always been a bit of a gym junkie doing both aerobics and weights, running half marathons, and when I hit 40 I was the fittest and happiest with my physique I had ever been in my life. Fast forward to now and having lost my way after hurting my sciatic nerve and gaining a mass of weight, I found a place where I could rehab my back, build my strength up and do isolated leg work I haven’t been able to do in 4 years without the aid of a post or wall and my goal is to keep building my strength while dropping the excess weight. I’ve met so many wonderful, inspiring, motivating, and genuinely lovely people at the box and I love that even iso couldn’t really keep us apart. I love Kyle’s dad jokes, the fact that Sara can’t speak properly in the morning and Josh can’t get up at 6am but blames it on technical issues Love you guys, you get me out of bed and keep me going every day See more

13.01.2022 Your body has a pain tolerance. Essentially your body will give you pain as a signal when there is something wrong, this is your body’s way to tell you to stop and slow down when there is an injury. We are not talking about exercise pain, burn or discomfort from actual exercise we are talking about those sharp, aches and pains of the body. The more the we starts to tap into those sort of pains the easier it will be to recognise the difference. The key here is to always acknow...ledge them and always listen to it your body and slow down accordingly. Rule of thumb for injuries and pain is the 3/10. When we are talking about pain in a injury sense or overwork sense. If the pain is more than 3 / 10, (10 being the worst pain ever, and 1 no pain). 3 is the absolute limit to work with in any given problem to be able to get rid of the issue or heal. When we are training hard and working trough injuries it’s super important to move as much as possible doing every exercises you can without causing true pain. So if you hurt your back try to find a movement that is not causing a pain over 3 and you should be able to continue to do that without causing more issues. Don’t hesitate to reach out to our coaches if you have any concerns about any underlying issues you might have. See more

I was born Colombo (Sri Lanka), did my bachelors degree in Malaysia and then moved to Melbourne in 2012. I'm a fan of the outdoors and love exploring the natural world. Travelling, amateur hiking and roadtrips are few of my favourite things to do outside of the gym. Prior to joining crossfit I tried a few different training styles. How...ever none of them gave me the same results as what I was able to achieve in crossfit. It's the ideal balance between endurance, functional strength and gymnastics that has made it so effective for me. Learning is what motivates me and with crossfit there's such a variety of combinations with movements that keep things fresh and exciting. I haven't been a member at any other crossfit gym but what I like the most about CFM is the high standard of coaching, their values and culture which has stayed consistent over the time. The level of motivation and encouragement here is much higher than anywhere else in my experience. There's also a very strong sense of belonging and in a way it gives you the feeling of being part of a large family. It's a great place with a lovely bunch of people and it's been an invigorating experience for me over the last four years, one that I am very happy to be a part of. 10.01.2022 #membermonday Caz is my unusual name, I’m sometimes known as Splinter (I’m skinny) or as Corporate Jesus for my work attire (suit) combined with the beard and long hair. I’m an engineering consultant in rail. A member at CFM for 2.5 years. Keen to give anything a go I’ve competed in swimming, yachting, triathlon, surfing, lifesaving, spearfishing. Growing up in Edithvale I worked at pools and gyms to fund hobbies while I rocked out in a punk band and studied telecommun...ications engineering at uni. Inspired to step up my training at a strongman gym coached by the dedicated Povey brothers before moving to try CrossFit. Outside of gym I’m a keen free-diver, snowboarder, rock climber, traveller and car/motorbike guy. Since lockdown I’ve become a self proclaimed barista and baker so after restrictions end, drop in for breakfast. Size and strength are my goals but surviving each workout is sometimes enough of an achievement. The best thing at the gym would have to be that trance song played most mornings, which mixes mobile phone interference and drum beats (let it ring?)- what a way to wake up! There’s also the magic tap water which runs a little brown but I drink it every time I train and keep getting stronger so it must be good! Oh and there’s The Frankefeld’s, the coaches, members and Stella. The most important thing I’ve learnt is that nutrition is just as important as exercise and just as much effort needs to go into your eating to get results. See more
10.01.2022 INTRODUCING COACH Josh @joshyyyy717 I started CrossFit in 2016 when I started getting bored of my workouts at a globo gym. What attracts me to CrossFit is how it complements by personality. I am a competitive person who gets bored easily and needs to keep working towards something, and CrossFit is perfect for both. As some of you know, I am a dietitian who left my job at a hospital last year to pursue my own nutrition coaching business, while gaining specialisation in spo...rts nutrition. Being a sports dietitian allows me to directly apply theory into practice; where I can test things on myself before I recommend them to others. Like competitive training, it's a constant battle to get things perfectly balanced to suit you and you alone, which is the part I love the most. If Crossfit is all about forging elite fitness in the general population, I believe that elite nutrition should come hand in hand with it, and that's what I aim to deliver to my clients. Things you may not know about me: I have a degree in Chemical Engineering! I can get super analytical about stuff and love all nitty gritty aspects, which is why you sometimes find me waffling on about the details (sorry!) I am a massive coffee and food snob, and yes I will judge you if you have tastebuds of a pleb. The moment a new place with great coffee opens, I need to know about it. After all, we are in Melbourne, right?! I am always hungry Qualifications Nutrition and Dietetics (Hons) - Monash University Accredited Practicing Dietitian - Dietitian’s Association of Australia Accredited Sports Dietitian (Provisional), - Sports Dietitians Australia Precision Nutrition Level 1 CrossFit Level 1 See more

08.01.2022 #membermonday Hi I’m Bridie @brids_storto, I’ve been at CFM coming up on two years in March. Before then I had never done crossfit and joined on encouragement from mum to be her gym buddy. I’ve grown up in Melbourne predominantly but spent three years in Chicago for mum’s work. In primary school I was not a sporty girl but something flipped in high school and I couldn’t get enough. I’ve been playing hockey at Southern United as a goalie for eight years. ... I’m studying landscape architecture and I work at a small playground construction company where I design and build kinder, primary school and high school playgrounds and gardens all over Melbourne. I think I love crossfit so much because it’s akin to a big playground. Everything its own new challenge and everyone at cfm is so keen to play around with new and old movements. From the first session to every one since the stand out factor of the box is how inviting, encouraging and kind every member and coach is. There’s not a session where I don’t feel I’ve improved, so a huge thanks to the family at CFM for being one of my favourite places to go! See more

06.01.2022 We often hear people say that they have to get in shape before they can start crossfit/weightlifting/functional training. This is definitely not the case learning to move well and getting in the right techniques from the start is the way to go. It is okay to not know how to do a certain movement, that is also a big reason we come into the gym to train so we can get better. We welcome all levels at Crossfit Moorabbin ... See more

05.01.2022 If something goes wrong, ask yourself: is this within my control? If it is, do something about it If its not, let it go. Focus on the task at hand rather than the outcome. Stay present in the moment and avoid thinking too far into the workout or thinking about your score. If you find yourself thinking negative thoughts or negative self-talk, stop and focus only on your breathing.... So stop worrying about things that you can’t control once we realize that the only thing we truly can control is ourselves with our attitude and effort, life becomes MUCH easier! See more
04.01.2022 INTRODUCING OWNER AND HEAD COACH Kyle @kyle_frankenfeld I opened CFM in 2011 and my goal was to help as many people as I could while funding my chance to be a professional CrossFit athlete. Over the last 10 years I have succeeded in both, however I believe my true success has been in the people whom I've helped over the years. My passion lies in my programming. The satisfaction I get out of a well-planned programming cycle and watching people come in and achieving t...hings they never thought they would ever do makes it all worth it. I’m a 5x CrossFit Regionals athlete in the Pacific Region and qualified a 6th time in 2017. My highest personal achievement in CrossFit was taking 5th place worldwide in the 2016 Reebok CrossFit Games Open. Despite my own athletic achievements, my true success has been taking seven individuals from beginner to elite. They all qualified for the Pacific Regionals and sanctioned events from 2014 through to 2019. I also sent a team to the Pacific Regionals in 2013, 2014, 2017, 2018, and to the CrossFit Games in 2017 I believe CrossFit enables us to do what others dream of in all areas of fitness. As a result, following my CrossFit career I dove into testing my body across as many weird and wonderful sports as I could. First up I did the Murray Marathon (405km kayak race), after that I dove into Iron Man training and have now completed two 70.3´s with a hope to do a full sometime this coming year. I intend of riding my way into the velodrome soon while doing a few marathon swims. Qualifications: * Level One CrossFit Training Certificate * CrossFit Gymnastics Certificate * Cert 3 and 4 in Personal Training * Senior First Aid level See more

03.01.2022 Slow progression makes for continuous progression In the next training cycle we are taking baby steps with your progressions. Achievement is so ingrained in our culture that we often ignore progress. Of course, focusing on progress would ultimately lead to higher achievement, but it's easy to dismiss that fact when you want to set a new PR today. Theoretical explanation: Pick your favorite lift, and lift 0,5 kg more than you did last week. NOT 1 kg more. Only 0,5 kg. Do you think you could do that? Most of you would be like, "Of course. That's easy." And you’re right. If you do that every week, you'll add 26 kg to your lifts in the next year. Stick with that for two years, and you're lifting 52 kg more.
03.01.2022 This phrase it’s from the U.S. Navy Seals. It’s a reminder that the best way to move fast in a professional setting is to take your time, slow down, and do the job right. Start with a deep breath.Take another. Consider your options. And then move. Slow, smooth, fast. It’s all about moving well, once we achieve that then the speed will naturally come with it. The best athletes out there are perfectionists in their disiplin that learns to move smoothly and perfectly before trying to move fast!

01.01.2022 #membermonday Hi! My name is Jai (pronounced Jay) and I’m currently a student at Monash University studying Political Science. I was first introduced to Crossfit at the end of 2017 when I became a member at Frankly’s (CFM), and was also a Butchers Lab in Copenhagen for six months whilst on exchange. After walking into the gym and seeing people walk on their hands then lifting a heavy barbell, I knew it was something I had to try. And my name is Julia, and I am studying ...to be primary school teacher at Australian Catholic University. I first joined Frankly’s in October 2019 after Jai convinced me to come with her. Before Crossfit I was rarely going to the gym and really hated working out, and sometimes I still do. But the people at the gym make all the burpees worth it. I love that Crossfit has introduced me to weightlifting and I have started to shift my goals from losing weight to becoming stronger. Growing up overseas in Tokyo, Japan and Cairo, Egypt, we both loved sports through school, playing volleyball and basketball, often on the same team. Moving back to Melbourne once we each finished Year 12, we worked at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in the city whilst living with our grandmother and moved into our own place last year. Coming back to Bentleigh after having left when we were 1 and 3 years old, the gym has played a huge role in settling back. During lockdown we’ve enjoyed spending time in garden, experimenting with new cocktail recipes and watching Ru Paul’s Drag Race. The best thing about the gym is the diversity and the fact that regardless of their age and experience, everyone works hard and gets the job done. Somehow, by the end you are always happier than before you started. When life knocks you down, do a burpee Jai Exercising would be so much more rewarding if calories screamed while you burned them Julia #crossfitcommunity See more

01.01.2022 #membermonday Hi there, I'm Anthony Vandewerdt, first generation Aussie, child of Dutch migrants. I grew up in Perth but moved to Melbourne in 1990. I started adult life working as a high school teacher, but switched to IT after 18 months and have since worked in IT for US based Tech companies for over 30 years. I am married with two adult children (one of whom is also a member of the Gym). I walked into CFM September 23, 2014. I had heard that Crossfit was a burpee o...bssessed cult, but I was doing 3-4 spin sessions (plus 2-3 sessions like body pump) per week, and was not seeing any results, so I was keen to try anything different. Apart from one coach I knew no-one at the club but I could not believe how welcoming the gym was. I loved the coaches, the program, the pain, the challenge, the dog (Stella) and all the members. Over 40% of my current Facebook friends are people I met through the gym. During lockdown the zoom sessions have been the keystone of my day. Seeing everyones faces and knowing we are all working together is the best possible way to start a lockdown day. In my spare time I love travelling, watching Sci-Fi or Scandi-Noir, reading (I am really into Sci-Fi but also really love Charles Dickens). I also like getting into the garden, helping to care for three chickens and dog obedience trials (although my current dog is now retired). I also like to deadlift (a lot). If I have any advice for new comers it's to commit 20 minutes a day to flexibity (I highly recommend ROMWOD) - this is the best way to avoid injuries. And secondly, to trust in the process, Kyle's programming produces results - you just need to do the work and stay the course (and don't pick and choose). And in Crossfit, every day is leg day.
