25.01.2022 **MEMBER TESTIMONIAL** - Remmy Campbell First and foremost, thank you guys so much over the last couple of years for being so accommodating to my previous work situation, I really appreciated it. The training you guys provided and the prompt and professional service was second to none and I always had a great time training with everyone. ... The community that you have built, and I'm sure will continue to grow, has been awesome to train with and I hope will flourish in the years to come.

24.01.2022 Kind words from Daniel Hubble (far left) about Origin. We miss you 2!! "We came to Origin a little under 3 years ago...we're leaving for work, not for lack of progression in the box. We've seen Origin grow into your new space, we're glad to have been a part of that growth. The community you foster and nurture is amazing, our progression as people and athletes have grown as you have. We have met so many amazing people that we wouldn't have if it were not for your community, ...people that we now consider life long friends. You gave Dani Hubble the confidence to compete, you gave me an environment to do things I didn't think I could...and for that we thank you and we'll miss you."

23.01.2022 Why Scaling is not Failing... Does this sound familiar? Maybe you've done it before... Coach says "Great job on the workout", to which the member responds "Thanks Coach, but I scaled". This gives the impression that there is something wrong with scaling and it is somehow associated with failure or maybe not working as hard as someone how does the workout as prescribed. This couldn't be further from the truth! ... Because no 2 people are the same, no 2 people will do a workout the same. If you can't do pullups, well then you shouldn't. If you can't deadlift 100kg, well then you shouldn't! But this doesn't mean you can't get in a good workout that is appropriate and safe for where you are at with your personal fitness journey. You will respect the stimulus of the workout, hence achieving the desired outcome if you are sensible with your workout. This may mean jumping pullups instead of unassisted pullups, or 50kg instead of 100kg. Scaling does not mean failing!! As a coach we have way more respect for someone who can swallow their pride and scale back movements when it is necessary. See more

23.01.2022 **HOME SCHOOLING** Who is home schooling, or attempting to home school their kids at the moment? What an interesting time and one that will no doubt be remembered for years to come. I thought it would be helpful to get some pointers from member SJ who permanently home schools 2 (and a half) children. She has also shared some of her favourite resources. I hope you get something out of this and please feel free to discuss in the comments or show us some pictures of your home sc...Continue reading

22.01.2022 HO HO HO... Christmas is near. Please see our operating hours for the next couple of weeks over the silly season.

22.01.2022 Meet our members - this is Kylie. New to the area and a new Mum. Hear her story about being nervous to start, despite having a background herself in the fitness industry, and what Origin means to her now.

21.01.2022 Our members are lucky enough to be coached by some pretty passionate and caring people - like Jarrod. One of the most genuine people you'll meet, if you'd like to be coached by him you'll have to come and see us. But for now, here is a video of him talking about coaching at Origin.

21.01.2022 Start where you are. Use what you've got. Do what you can! ........ Don't wait until you're fitter, skinnier, stronger, have more time, make more money, feel more motivated. That may never happen!... ........ Join us for our next free intro and see if we are a good fit for you and your goals. https://www.crossfitorigin.com.au/free-intro/ See more

21.01.2022 When you've been isolating with your dogs for too long... (or just long enough...?)

20.01.2022 Anyone else’s pets wondering what they’re up to with these home workouts?

20.01.2022 MEMBER TESTIMONIAL from Dee Curry ....................... If someone had told me 3 years ago I would be doing Crossfit 4-5 times a week, without fail, I would have laughed. But I have found working out gives me a break from having to fight mental illness constantly. When I came to Crossfit Origin, I was terrified, starting a new gym, even though I had done some basic Crossfit before. I was anxiety ridden and probably wouldn't have done it without dragging a friend along with ...me. I have been here 9 months now and couldn't imagine being at another gym. The people here just support one another. They cheer each other on in the gym but also in our lives outside of the gym. Even sending messages of support when no-one else is looking. I tend to hide my illness behind my loud voice and joking demeanor, always trying to make people laugh and feel good, (and that's a hard job!) so it's nice to have people check up on me sometimes! Exercise can really help people who struggle day to day and can even help people recover fully with their mental struggles. I know I feel best when I have been eating well and working out and hitting my goals! The community also makes you feel like you CAN do things and that you WILL do things which can really be helpful. Coronavirus has hit this country hard especially anyone with mental illness and being in quarantine. When I heard the gyms were being closed, I won't lie, I cried. I felt lost, I wouldn't have a connection to those amazing people each day. I wouldn't be able to push mental barriers each day.. I was devastated. But, even though they had a baby imminent, Sean and Kaitlyn rallied and they got us all connected via Zoom and our social pages and now after 2 weeks, even though I still really really miss the gym, I am ok. I can do this, I will do this and we are in this together! Just remember to check on your friends, even the happy, laughing, smiling ones.. because some of them aren't ok, some will fake it because of the stigma. And sign yourself up for a community like ours! It might just be a lifesaver!

20.01.2022 It is addictive.. crazy as it seems. You work your ass off, the whole time thinking why the hell do I put myself through this. Then turn up the next day .... Seriously, it has changed my life. Just wish I had started 20 years ago. Simply tailored for all ages and body styles - believe me I would have been one of the most unfit men to walk through that door 5 years ago. I started when I was 50.

19.01.2022 Kylie is a new Mum and new to the area. Origin has given her back her 'Me time' and gained her a community and support network. We love having Kylie at Origin. If you can relate to Kylie's story then what are you waiting for? Come join us. You can book a free introduction class on our website www.crossfitorigin.com.au... We hope to meet you soon. See more

18.01.2022 **MEMBER REPOST** Fiona Wilson "Five years today I gave up the cigarettes, it’s been tough at times cravings, weight gain. To date I have saved $33,800."

18.01.2022 We hope you've still been venturing outside at least once a day to get some fresh air and sunlight. This is a great explanation from the guys at iHealth Saunas about the effects of light on the body. This week we've been asking to see our members' workout environment and encouraging them to get out - either the beach or the bush or wherever! Also, have a break from that blue light!

18.01.2022 CAN YOU RELATE...? I was in my early 30’s overweight and unfit with a family history of heart disease. I had had been in reasonable shape in years gone by but kids and work had meant that I had let that slide quite a bit. A good friend of mine recommended I try Crossfit Origin. At the time I didn’t know a lot about Crossfit, only that it had a reputation for being full on. I thought what am I getting myself in for. ... I won’t say that it has been easy. It’s been challenging as it highlighted my lack of fitness to say the least. However I am not one to give up when confronted with a bit of hard work. I was well aware of where I was and where I wanted to get back to. Over the past 2.5 years I have reached my initial goals and the advanced well past them. Beyond this, I have also become a part of the Crossfit Origin family and wider Crossfit community. Crossfit is something we are a part of as a family. Since I started my wife and children have also become a part of the Crossfit Origin family. Crossfit is an individual measure of fitness achieved in a team atmosphere. The people you meet at Crossfit Origin are motivated and positive, encouraging and inspiring. You will have fun, you will hurt, you will ask ‘what am I doing?’ You may even cry. You won’t regret starting. Thank you Sean, Kaito and Pepper for make Crossfit Origin a great community

17.01.2022 Each week we'll be posting a CHALLENGE of sorts for you to get involved with on facebook and instagram. It will be a good way to mix things up a bit from week to week and there will be prizes and plenty of banter, so get amongst it and have some fun. To kick it off this week's challenge is to GET THE KIDS INVOLVED. Show us your littlies, whether they are doing the workout, cheering you on, climbing on you, watching or having a dance party - we want to see! If you are continui...ng your exercise at home and the kids are getting involved or even just watching you are doing such a positive thing for them in leading by example. We love our members who are also role models for the younger generation. Don't forget to tag us Crossfit Origin on facebook and @crossfitorigin on instagram. Best post will win a bag of True Protein powder delivered.

17.01.2022 A big Origin warm welcome Kylie Wilson and Josh Wood to our coaching team. These guys have been getting stuck in over the past few weeks sharing their passion and knowledge with our members. Kylie is a super fit Mum with a background in PT and group training as well as supplements and nutrition. Josh is in the RAAF with a passion for fitness (he ran a marathon by doing laps of an oval just for fun) and experience in group fitness instructing. Make sure you get in for a session with them soon!

16.01.2022 This week's challenge is to show us your pets in your workout posts. We love our pets!!! .................... Studies around pets and mental health show that petting and playing with animals reduces stress-related hormones. And these benefits can occur after just five minutes of interacting with a pet. Therefore, pets are very helpful for anxiety sufferers. Playing with a dog or cat raises our levels of serotonin and dopamine." .................... 15.01.2022 Official! The Open is back in February/March and plans on being the biggest yet.

15.01.2022 This year's half marathon row will be held at 10am on Boxing Day. If you're up for the challenge there is a sign up sheet on the whiteboard at the gym. You can brave it el solo, or team up with a couple of mates. Here is the back story, thanks to Alexis Tate who has carried on the tradition every year. For the 500 Burpee Challenge this year we ask you to complete at home, snap a sweaty selfie and post your time on the CFO Social page. Get the kids involved, your Grandma, eve...n the dog. ............ "Every day at Crossfit Origin we see some truly inspirational people walk through the doors. One of those people was Jeff, when it comes to determination and heart, I’ve never met anyone quite like him. The crazy was stepped up a level at Christmas time 2014... first with a cfo social post anyone up for a Half Marathon row on Christmas Eve? And then a week later... with an ad hoc open gym announced for New Year’s Day 2015 Jeff comments: Is that enough time for me to do 500 burpees? He did it!! And I assure you would have taken out our sweatiest award. Unfortunately Jeffro passed away unexpectedly November 2015. And so the tradition began, every year around Christmas time we complete 500 burpees for time, in memory of a truly inspirational man, we complete 500 burpees for all those who no longer can " See more

Maybe you could be the next success story! www.crossfitorigin.com.au

14.01.2022 We love this video about the effects of exercise on the brain - helping to improve mental health and stave off degenerative diseases like dementia. So many benefits of exercise on your mental health and you "don't have to train like a triathlete". Don't get caught up in not maxing out your lifts and getting a personal best FRAN time. All you need is a minimum 30 minutes of exercise 3-4 times per week with some aerobic exercise. A

13.01.2022 ATTENTION MUMS! IS THIS YOU? I started at Crossfit Origin in May 2015. I was a very busy Mum to a one and a three year old. Unfortunately I had placed their health and well being well before my own and I had put on 15kgs since having them and I was on the verge of exhaustion. As soon as I started at Crossfit Origin I noticed a difference in my mental health immediately and the results that followed were AMAZING!! ... I lost 15kgs within the first 10 months, I had Psoriasis which cleared itself in this time (and has never returned) and my energy levels have increased tenfold. I have more energy to play with my kids and have become more present with my children. I’ve started to actually participate in loads of activities with them, all whilst they watch me be an AMAZING role model by exercising regularly and finally taking care of myself. Thank you to Sean and Kaitlyn and the AWESOME staff at Crossfit Origin. I actually refer to my daily session as ‘Me Time’ and I LOVE the feeling of achieving what I never thought could be possible for me fitness-wise. If you’re thinking of starting something this is definitely a WARM and INVITING place to train in and there are many people with different fitness levels, so there is always someone to team up with. THANK YOU Crossfit Origin and my children thank you too!!!

12.01.2022 This week's CHALLENGE is MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS. We’ve already had feedback from our members about how good exercise is for their mental health. Social isolation is so potentially dangerous but please remember we are in this together and this too will pass. This week’s challenge is to share with the group a picture or video of you plus a little bit about yourself and this topic. Tell us why exercise makes you happy. Don't forget to tag Crossfit Origin on facebook and @crossf...itorigin on Instagram. One lucky winner will receive a bag of True Protein delivered. This is from Maria Davias (thanks for sharing Maria). "I’m a huge advocate on mental health having suffered from severe post - natal anxiety and depression 5 years ago. That was beyond my control. I never thought I would get better again or be able to function. But with the right help and making changes in my life I made a full recovery. I’m grateful for the life I have. Crossfit is huge part of my life now in keeping my mental health at bay and I’m sure that is the same for many of you. Even though the gym is shut we should not give up and let all our previous hard work be forgotten. We still have access to these resources to keep us going in the meantime."

12.01.2022 Get your little ones squatting and burn off some of that energy!

11.01.2022 Meet Coach Kaito - Crossfit has changed her life and now she'd love to change yours!

09.01.2022 What's the most important thing in your gym bag? .... When we first got Pepper we brought her to the gym with us all the time. Although she had her bed she could sleep in she would always prefer to sleep on or in our gym bags. And whenever her mate Kelly arrived she'd happily jump in his bag and have a ride in it upstairs where he'd put his bag away before a session. Got to love a gym dog!

09.01.2022 Just wanted to share this inspiring post from our girl Dee. Results are not easy. They take time, sacrifice and a lot of hard work. But Dee is a testament to the statement that hard work pays off - in and out of the gym. We are proud of her results! This is why we love what we do. ... "Today I put on a goal shirt.. a size WOMENS SMALL!! And its fits!! First time in 10 years to wear a shirt that size! It didnt fit a month ago or so when I had a sneaky try haha.. this is a pi...cture of me in 2017 when I was at my heaviest, I refused pictures so this was me in the corner of another picture I didn't know was being taken.. Im so happy and proud of the last few months of work! And it wasn't any fancy diet or pills, just a calorie deficit and working out 4 times a week. Thats it. Nothing else. I still eat chocolate and icecream, I still have burgers.. I still eat chips. but yes I still run and I still lift weights.. CrossFit Origin i finally fit that shirt!" See more

09.01.2022 Fiona's story gives me absolute chills! As she has discovered - you are never too old or too unfit to do Crossfit. We are so proud of how far Fiona has come on her fitness journey, from a pack a day smoker to a regular gym-goer who runs and lifts and is not too old to do things like handstands and burpees. If you're inspired by Fiona's story then come join us. We hold free introduction classes every Monday night at 7pm and Tuesday morning at 7am. Visit our website to book your spot.

09.01.2022 Our facility, program, coaching and people are world class. But you don't have to be a Games athlete to train at Origin. We are also normal people trying to be better every day. If that sounds like you feel free to give us a holler.

08.01.2022 We know it can be tough juggling work, life and kids! At Origin we don't think you should have to sacrifice your health and fitness. We are here to help you make it work and that's why we offer facilities including a secure kids area and baby change table if you need to bring the little ones along with you to your session. If you'd rather the hour to yourself, we're here for that too!

07.01.2022 Saying you're not fit enough to do Crossfit is like saying you're too dirty to take a bath...

07.01.2022 This week's challenge is to SHOW US YOUR PETS! I don’t know about everyone else, but thank god for pets in times like this, keeping us entertained, loved and sane. Pickles and Pepper have loved us being at home more. We have loved seeing your furry friends included in those workouts, especially since some of you are getting outdoors for your exercise. This week we want to see pictures and videos of your pets in your workouts. Get creative this is a fun one.... Don't forget to tag Crossfit Origin on facebook and @crossfitorigin on Instagram. 03.01.2022 As coaches and owners we can harp on about this stuff all day long, but coming from a member is a little different. Thanks Dee Curry, so well put. ............... Just want to get on my soapbox again and say how much I just LOVE this gym.. we have so many members who are just amazing and its easy to sometimes fall into the trap of thinking people are better then you and you won't ever be as good as some people (well maybe not Kim Hardinge and Liam Ryan, Candy Lowcock and Sean... Brickwood, but we are only human) but its not true.. Every person in this gym has someone they look up to or who they think is just amazing at getting past obstacles in the gym and in life. We have mums and dads working out on 3 hours sleep, post partum mums and even mums currently pregnant. Still kicking arse! We have girls and guys who just smash every cardio session with ease and it almost seems like they are made for it, some even after working night shift all night. Or we have the people who can just pick up gymnastics movements in a session or two and pump out pullups and bar muscle ups like its nothing.. And we have people who can lift heavy things that others seem struggle to lift. (Body to weight ratio can help here hahah) And let's not forget the people that are too 'old' to start working out or move off the couch.. some of our members show them thats not true at all! Even kicking all of the 'young' peoples arses!! I look up to so many of you every day, and i may talk alot of s*** but I'm proud of you all, and I'm not even a trainer.. so welcome to all of the newbies, you have joined the best gym around.. and remember you are someones hero..

02.01.2022 For six months Travis drove past Origin before building up the courage to come in and try out Crossfit for himself. His only regret now is that he didn't do it sooner! If you've been sitting on the fence for a while, NOW is the time to get started, don't leave it another six months. Send us a message and we can book you in for your free introduction class with other beginners. Hope to see you soon!

02.01.2022 Hello! Are your muscles still there? We want to see them! This week's CHALLENGE is a good, ol' fashioned flex off. Show us what you've got, give us a LOL for bonus points and tag Crossfit Origin on facebook and @crossfitorigin on instagram and you may win a bag of True Protein to help with those gains.

02.01.2022 Can't wait to get back into this place with our amazing people.

02.01.2022 One movement, the "pullup", 3 different options. Ring rows and jumping pullups are great alternatives if you haven't yet achieved pullups. Movements like this take time to build. They require a lot of strength and coordination. There is no need to skip the workout that day and just not having pullups yet is no reason to not start Crossfit either! Set yourself a goal, then work hard and be patient, do the appropriate movement progression and you'll get there.

01.01.2022 **FIT MUM TESTIMONIAL** Lauren Hanlon Being a first time Mum and regaining confidence to be fit and active, I was extremely welcomed in the Origin Community and I will be forever grateful. I have been a part of the Crossfit Origin Community since my daughter was 3 months old and it has been one of the best decisions I have made for my mental and physical health. ... After I had my daughter I was so nervous and anxious about going to a gym and feared that I wouldn’t be able to perform any exercise movement as well as all the ‘fit people’. I will never forget my first one-on-one consultation with Kaitlyn and how comfortable she made me feel and the level of knowledge and understanding she had in postpartum women returning to exercise. Kaitlyn immediately filled me with confidence and introduced me to all the easily modified movements which would help redevelop my core strength. She assured me that all the coaches would be informed and able to support me and my individual journey in returning to exercise post baby. All of the coaches have been so understanding and welcoming of myself and my daughter Olive. Returning to the gym when you first have a baby can be daunting as you feel anxious/selfish to leave your baby with other people. However, Olive came to every session with me and I was able to see her, comfort her and feed her if needed. Six months later and I have lost 13kgs and gained so much confidence, strength and lifelong friendships. It has been so rewarding dedicating 1 hour each day to myself and my wellbeing.
