22.01.2022 Here, you won’t have to struggle through and learn the complex movements in class. Everyone joining our classes does a series of 1:1 sessions with one of our Coaches before joining group class and you will not perform movements in class until you are competent and comfortable with them. Janne is one of our newer members and joined our classes a few weeks ago, after her initial 1:1 sessions. Today, she did her 1:1 clean and jerk session and now she will start doing these movem...ents in class. There are progressions to all of the movements that we do and learning them takes time. 22.01.2022 Why do I need to work on single leg balance and stability if I’m already strong? Because the majority of pain and injuries that our clients present to us with are not caused by a lack of strength - but rather, by their inability to control their strength through full range of motion. Simply being able to squat with a heavy load on your back doesn’t mean that you have good balance and stability. And if you are experiencing pain, it’s a sign that you may be compensating for a... weakness in this area in other ways. Lifting heavy loads without adequate stability causes small traumas to your muscles, ligaments and joints each time, which can add up to pain and injury long term. Let’s define high intensity as any workout done with the intent of being as fast as possible, doing as many reps as possible or lifting as much load as possible. In class, it’s our job to give you the best alternatives to keep you safe, without missing the intention and stimulus of the workout. Modifying like this when needed is very important. However ...... How many times have you needed to modify a movement because you didn’t have the necessary range of motion or you were in pain? Have you been having to make the same modifications for an extended period of time? How does it make you feel to know that modifying for these reasons is very unlikely to fix your limitations and you will likely need to modify forever. Do you want to stop needing to modify?
