19.01.2022 EMBRACING THE LEARNING CURVE... If someone asked me what all the members at CFV have in common I’d reply, They’re all hard workers. But I could have easily said, They‘ve all conquered their fear of stepping up to something new, and unknown.... It’s difcult to learn as an adult: it requires a different mindset than when you sat in school as a child. As adults, we’re expected to know things, to be in charge, to be responsible. When you’re a kid, it’s okay to not know: you’re not supposed to know. That’s why you spend so much time being taught how to do everything. So step forward as an adult and own up to the fact that you could use some help. You have to be brave to join CrossFit Victus, to offer yourself up to that kind of vulnerability. But you’re also very smart to do so: there is no quicker path to better performance and reaching your goals than learning from the experts. Anybody can be a professional in their own lounge room. When you come to CFV you get to enjoy the absence of responsibility. In your life, you’re probably in charge most of the time, with people depending on you to make the right decisions. 10.01.2022 P R A C T I C E Practice is how skill gets developed. Yeah that’s right, its not by going full noise at every session, its by slowing down and practicing.... It’s not cool. It’s not exciting. It’s doing the daily workouts at light loads and low heart rates being deliberate with perfect form and technique. It will make you a better athlete. Slowing down to dial in movements, master lifts, and x inefciencies is how you raise the threshold for when you do send it. The higher you want to climb the ladder of CrossFit, the more practice you need, and the less competition. Then once you’ve practiced a while, Take your newly minted skill and technical prociency for a test drive with some speed and load. Practice for a few WODs, then crank it up for a few, Rinse then repeat. #buildingafitterwagga #coachingcollective #cometryus
08.01.2022 Even after 10 years of CrossFit Victus I still get a massive kick out of testing, creating and writing the CFV programming. Tailoring it to the specific needs of our members and keeping things creative and fun is, although challenging, extremely rewarding. It’s important for me to make our workouts universally scalable, because no two athletes are the same, and the level of difficulty people find in any given session is quite varied. My workouts need to be enjoyable, achievable and leave our members with a great sense of accomplishment every time they leave the gym.
