24.01.2022 So Tom and I also have a number of cattle on the property. These boys have only been here for about a month and were pretty grumpy when we first got them. However, Tom's been bribing them with pears each day and unbeknown to me I happened to park in the exact spot he parks in every day. Needless to say they all came running looking for a feed and left disappointed. Sorry boys, will bring you some tomorrow.
23.01.2022 So keep an eye out for Tuesday 18/4 "Advertiser". Tom and I were recently interviewed and visited, looking forward to what the article has to say, fingers crossed
23.01.2022 Work has begun in the Old Dairy on the property. Plasterboard, paint and vinyl soon, then we hope to have our oven operational. The plan is to start dry roasting malt as well as drying hops. Initial trials by Tom are going well and we hope to be well into it in the New Year. We’re looking forward to seeing our giant oven full soon.
22.01.2022 If you happen to be visiting Lobethal, pop into the Lobethal Bierhaus and try the Fresh Hop (Augüst 42) beer. This was brewed from our hops to celebrate the 175th Anniversary of Lobethal. The name of the beer Augüst 42 celebrates Augüst Meuller, who was the first person in Lobethal to grow hops in the 1800’s and 42 represents the year 1842 when Lobethal was founded. Unfortunately it won’t be available in bottles, only available on tap.
22.01.2022 For those that may be interested, we are selling some Rhizomes this year. These are from our nursery that have been growing for 4-5 years and from which we set up our yard with.
22.01.2022 Crossover Hops are pleased to offer the opportunity for any "brew heads" to purchase 'wet hops' direct from us this weekend only, Sat/Sun 25/26th Feb. This will be a pick to order offer, direct from the plants each morning. We are offering 4 varieties - Pride of Ringwood Cascade... Tettnang Chinook All varieties are $30kg. Please pre order, so we know how many kgs to pick on the mornings. Collection will be from the property between 11-3 each day this weekend. These are 'wet hops' freshly picked from the plant, not dried pelletised hops. Feel free to pass this on to any one one you may know that might be interested. The opportunity to brew with wet hops doesn't come very easily, particularly in Adelaide. Call me, Martin, 0402 131 059 for orders. Thanks. See more
20.01.2022 They certainly know how to grow. Tom and I couldn't have been happier in how well these grew.
16.01.2022 While it's quiet'ish in the Hop yard, Tom and I decided our cattle yard needed some TLC. Our delivery from Victoria arrived during the week and we have started building the new run and crush. It's going to make handling the cattle a whole lot easier and safer for the both of us. The Red Angus are growing into brutes and time to be weighed and hopefully off to market soon.
14.01.2022 Tom and I are pleased to share the article written in todays 'Advertiser'. We were thrilled, as a fledgling business, to have been approached by the media and are looking forward to growing the business over the coming years.
13.01.2022 So they started growing very quickly, we couldn't have been happier. Tom knows his stuff when it comes to Hops.
12.01.2022 It’s that time of the year where we’ve been busy setting up the yard for the next up coming crop. Part of the work has been increasing the size of the yard and consolidating the varieties grown. This has resulted in some varieties available for purchase for anyone interested in having a go growing your own hops. We have both Rhizomes and Crowns listed on EBay for purchase or contact us through here or mobile if you are interested. If you search EBay for the following item num...bers. Rhizomes - 183314098017 - varieties available - Pride of Ringwood, Willamette, East Kent Goldings, Tettnang. Crowns - 183358262792 - varieties available - Pride of Ringwood, Willamette, Hersbruker, East Kent Goldings. Cheers, Martin and Tom
12.01.2022 Tom hiding in a wigwam. Ready for harvest, not bad for the first year.
04.01.2022 So this is one of the yards we have. Our favourite - the ‘Wigwam’ yard. We can’t wait to see these in February ready for the harvest. When full, they’re wonderful to sit inside.
03.01.2022 The poles and ropes are getting there. Great job Tom.
02.01.2022 It all started in August 2016 with the installation of our first climbing structures.
