25.01.2022 Today, we remember them. Lest we forget.

24.01.2022 Meet our Team: Dr Andrew South Dr Andrew South grew up in Adelaide and graduated from The University of Adelaide with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2012, earning The Dean’s Merit Award for outstanding achievement over the 5 year course. Dr Andrew takes great pride in working together with his patients to deliver optimal dental care which is individualised to best suit their particular situation. With a ‘bigger picture’ philosophy to his treatment plans, Dr Andrew ensures... that not only are his patients immediate needs met, but they are also well placed for a lifetime of excellent oral health, function, and aesthetics. Dr Andrew particularly enjoys rebuilding heavily worn and heavily restored teeth to recreate their natural form and function. This includes all aspects of cosmetic dental makeovers to give patients the ability to smile with confidence and pride. He is experienced in the use of ‘single-day’ CAD/CAM porcelain crowns and inlays, the planning and restoration of dental implants, and in the delivery of both resin and porcelain veneers. He is also able to provide clear aligner orthodontic treatment to straighten teeth in simple cases of crowding or spacing. For those who have always wondered what they might look like with a perfect smile, Dr Andrew is also able to create a ‘Digital Smile Design’ to virtually trial cosmetic changes before committing to them. When Dr Andrew is not at work, he is most likely surfing, alpine skiing, or planning his next surfing or skiing adventure with his wife. Outside of these two great passions of his, he enjoys photography and learning foreign languages. 10.01.2022 Wisdom Teeth [the basics in 60 seconds] Our wisdom teeth are the last adult teeth to present (erupt) in the mouth. Most adults have 4 wisdom teeth - one in each quadrant of the mouth - and are classed as the third set of molars. What are impacted wisdom teeth?... Impacted wisdom teeth did not actually exist in the ancient human mouth. Factors such as our modern diet have potentially led to the reduction of our jaw size. The limited space in our mouths leads to wisdom teeth impaction, where the tooth does not have adequate room to properly grow through. Signs and symptoms of impacted wisdom teeth While impacted wisdom teeth may not cause any issues initially, over time symptoms may include: Tender or bleeding gums Red/swollen gums Jaw pain/discomfort Bad breath Difficulty eating and/or opening your mouth Headaches Damage to the teeth in front of the wisdom teeth Infection, cysts or abscess Movement of other teeth If you’re experiencing any of these signs or symptoms, be sure to make an appointment with one of our dentists as soon as possible!

09.01.2022 LOCKDOWN UPDATE We’re back! With the South Australian government’s rolling updates, we can now confirm that Cross Road Dental will re-open on Tuesday the 24th of November.... Whilst we are returning to normal operations, CRD will have distancing and hygiene measures in place to ensure the ongoing safety and wellbeing of our patients and staff. All patients that had appointments effected by the lockdown will be contacted by our reception staff on Monday. We look forward to welcoming you back on Tuesday

05.01.2022 Understanding Dental Crowding Crowding is a condition that occurs when there is an insufficient amount of space for all the teeth to properly fit within your mouth. When this occurs teeth may become displaced if they are too large to fit in the available space. Just like impacted wisdom teeth, crowding rarely existed in the ancient human mouth. Modern diet, airway disease and incorrect oral habits have led to the progressive reduction of our jaw size. ... Early childhood intervention can help to prevent the potential of crowding. To learn more about the signs and preventative measures associated with crowding, be sure to ask your dentist or hygienist at your next appointment

02.01.2022 What you need to know about.... gums Gums provide support and nutrients to our teeth, just like soil does with trees. Not only do they make our smile look good, gums create a seal around the teeth that protects the delicate nerves from bacteria and disease Healthy gums are generally firm and pale pink. Therefore, red or bleeding gums should be considered unhealthy.... Quick Check: Bleeding is a sign of gum disease. The longer you leave it untreated, the worse your gum disease could be to the point that it may even cause potential tooth loss. Next time you’re brushing your teeth, check in the mirror for any signs on bleeding.
