09.01.2022 An update for truckstops. As you are aware the Australian Health Department in conjunction with the States and Territories implemented exemptions for heavy vehicle drivers. These exemptions were put in place to assist heavy vehicle drivers to manage fatigue by authorising businesses to provide a place for sit down meals, showers, restrooms and a place to break from driving. The Queensland government have now broadened the exemptions to not only heavy vehicle drivers, but to ...Essential Road Users. Essential Road Users include: road and rail workers such as RoadTek and Queensland Rail maintenance crews, utilities workers, agriculture sector workers (such as specialist maintenance staff required to maintain sugar mills), workers required to calibrate or maintain equipment essential to continue the safe operation of critical infrastructure and systems, critical resources sector employees, emergency services personnel, health practitioners, authorised officers (such as local government inspectors) and volunteers providing essential care (such as a Meals on Wheels volunteer delivering food to the elderly).
