25.01.2022 REMINDER: Crowdy Head Surf Club monthly meeting today, Sunday 17/01/21 commencing 1pm. All welcome. Please be aware of and comply with all NSW Covid requirements.

24.01.2022 TUESDAY TIP . . . Always supervise young children in and around water.

24.01.2022 TUESDAY TIP . . . Know the flags.

24.01.2022 Not a lot of sand area on the beach at the moment due to high tide being 8.20am. We are expecting a high UV index today so don’t forget to wear sunscreen. There is a nice NE breeze at Crowdy, so hopefully it won’t be as hot as other areas. Nippers parents - please bring your own pen to sign in. Thanks!

23.01.2022 Tonight we are running the Joker Jackpot raffle at the #harringtonhotel. Come down and enjoy a meal, a drink and buy some tickets to support your local sporting clubs.

23.01.2022 TUESDAY TIP . . . HOW TO SPOT A RIP Rips are the number one hazard on Australian beaches. The best way to avoid a rip is to swim at a patrolled beach between the red and yellow flags. How to spot a rip current?... Rips are complex, can quickly change shape and location, and at times, are difficult to see. The things to look for are: Deeper, dark-coloured water. Fewer breaking waves. A rippled surface surrounded by smooth waters. Anything floating out to sea or foamy, discoloured, sandy, water flowing out beyond the waves. Rips don’t always show all of these signs at once.

Did you know you can nominate our club as your favourite charity, and each time you scan your card when making a purchase, it benefits our club (at the end of each month, Ritchies will then pay us .5% of the total accrued directly into our nominated bank account!) For more details, or to link your card to our club, simply go to:... https://m.ritchies.com.au/loyalty

23.01.2022 Win yourself and your club $$$$ this season!

22.01.2022 We are anticipating we may be short of water safety personal and age managers for tomorrows nippers. If you are qualified, available and willing to help, please let us know by commenting below, or simply arrive and sign on at our Nippers Desk by 9.15am tomorrow morning. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

22.01.2022 Should you be isolating this New Years Eve, remember it is important to look after your mental health during isolation. Think about how you have coped with difficult situations in the past and reassure yourself that you will cope with this situation too. Remember that isolation won’t last for long. Exercise regularly at home. Options could include exercise DVDs, dancing, floor exercises, yoga, walking around the backyard or using home exercise equipment if you have it. ...Exercise is a proven treatment for stress and depression. For more information and support while in isolation: - Lifeline Australia 13 11 14 - Kids Helpline 1800 551 800 - NSW Mental Health Line 1800 011 511 Thank you to those who are isolating for 14 days and helping to stop the spread of COVID-19. 22.01.2022 TUESDAY TIP . . . DOWNLOAD THE BEACHSAFE APP Taking a road trip up the coast? On holiday? Or just looking for the right beach for you? Find your nearest beaches in seconds. Access the latest information about every Australian beach on the go. Offering unrivalled coverage of the Australian coastline, the Beachsafe app provides detailed information from patrol status, facilities and hazards to weather, swell and tide.... SLSA recommends swimming at patrolled beaches, between the red and yellow flags.

22.01.2022 We are busy getting ready for our first day of Nippers - see you soon!

22.01.2022 Conditions couldn’t have been better for teaching water activities to our nippers today. Thank you to everyone involved for your enthusiasm and commitment in providing such an amazing day for all.

21.01.2022 To all our members and friends, Merry Christmas, and stay safe this holiday season.

20.01.2022 Looking for something to do this Sunday? Don’t forget our Sunday Sippers Bar is open every Sunday of the season from 1pm. All welcome - please comply with all COVID19 regulations during your visit.

20.01.2022 We are busy preparing for our games day! While it will be challenging with the high tide, we will do our best to plan for a great day.

19.01.2022 From our family to yours, wherever you may be, happy new year!

19.01.2022 Tuesday’s Tip . . . KEEP A TOWEL LENGTH BETWEEN YOU Your safety is our top priority when visiting our beach. Please remember to always keep 1.5 metres or about a towel length space apart from others and do not gather in groups of more than 20.

19.01.2022 Tuesday Tip . . . ASK A LIFEGUARD FOR SAFETY ADVICE Lifeguards are highly trained and very knowledgeable about beach safety and conditions. When you arrive at the beach look for and identify the lifeguards. Feel free to ask them about the day’s conditions, as well any additional beach safety advice they might have for that specific beach because every beach is different.

17.01.2022 Nearly high tide! Nipper parents and carers - please remember to bring your own pen to sign in. Thanks!

17.01.2022 This week we are running the Friday night Joker Jackpot raffle at the #harringtonhotel. Come down and enjoy a meal, a drink and buy some tickets to support your local sporting clubs.

17.01.2022 A big thank you to Chris and the team at Harrington Mechanical Services. Chris has kindly donated a brand new fuel cell for our IRB and has been providing workshop support to the club since he opened his business.

17.01.2022 We have been asked to share the below information to our followers. For further information, please contact organisers via the link. https://m.facebook.com//a.607372639822735/758872068006124/

17.01.2022 Tuesday’s Tip . . . SWIM WITH A FRIEND Not only is swimming with a friend (or family member) a fun way to enjoy the beach, it is also very sensible. While you are swimming together you can keep an eye out for each other, and if further assistance is required, one person could call or go for help. If everyone swimming together knows their own limits it is a good idea to share this with those around you so you can all stay within everyone’s comfortable limits.

16.01.2022 What do you do when there’s a king tide and no sand for beach activities? Swim or paddle a board, of course! Water conditions just don’t get any better than this - our Nippers enjoyed a great day in the water, honing their skills. Thank you again to our volunteers and nippers for an amazing day.

16.01.2022 Thank you again to our volunteers - our main focus at Crowdy nippers is learning through fun. Despite being initially short of helpers, we again pulled together for our nippers, who all had a great day. We have such an amazing team - thank you!

14.01.2022 Individually we are one drop, but together we are an ocean. Ryunosuke Satoro. Thank you to all of our members who pulled together beautifully when we were a little short of helpers this morning. The result was another great day for our nippers and families. Thank you to todays patrolling members, and our amazing team of Age Managers and Co-ordinators. Well done!

14.01.2022 Post 4 of 4 - tug-o-war under 9’s, 10’s, 11’s, 12’s and 13’s.

14.01.2022 TUESDAY TIP . . . IF YOU NEED HELP, STAY CALM AND ATTRACT ATTENTION Even the most careful people can find themselves out of their limits in the water. If you are not feeling comfortable in the water and you require a lifeguard’s assistance to get back to shore, stay calm, raise your arm in the air and wave it from side to side. This will attract the attention of a lifeguard who will be able to come to your assistance. You should conserve your energy by floating on your back and staying calm. This will ensure you have the energy to remain afloat until further aid arrives.

13.01.2022 Gorgeous conditions today at Crowdy!

11.01.2022 If last weekend was any guide, we're headed for a warm and busy summer. These are the days when people flock to our beaches. Oftentimes, conditions can be unple...asant and even hazardous with dumping waves, strong rips and even flotillas of bluebottles doing their worst. Then there are the restrictions that come with COVID. If the crowds get too big, beaches will be closed to further arrivals. Now, Surf Life Saving Australia has developed an App through which you can search any beach in Australia before you leave home. There you'll find current information on conditions, patrol services, hazards, weather, swell and tides. The site's updated regularly and also includes advice on when beaches are full. Just head to: https://beachsafe.org.au/apps

03.01.2022 Tuesday’s Tip - always swim between the red and yellow flags. When you see red and yellow flags on a beach, it indicates that there is currently a lifesaving service operating on that beach. The lifeguards have chosen a section of the beach that is best for swimming and they will closely supervise this area. Lifeguards pay more attention to the area between the red and yellow flags than any other part of the beach.
