19.01.2022 Will Tax policy affect your vote this Saturday? (or is it really social policy?) It is clear, at least to me, that there is a real choice this election and underlying the competing Tax policies offered up by the so called "conservatives" verses "progressives" are quite fundamentally different socio-political worldviews: One proposes bigger government intervention, the other less government intervention. One believes that dividing & redistributing is the way to share wealth... in an economy, the other believes multiplying is the only way to grow national wealth. Personally, I am reminded of what Dr Adrian Rogers stated way back in 1931: "You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it." In my mind, this election is not about tax policy (its just a means to an end) but fundamentally about being asked to abandon our heritage and traditional values & "bet" the whole economy & culture on social re-engineering the hearts and minds of ordinary Australians towards a global socialist agenda.
