24.01.2022 WHY I AM DOING DRY JULY - Dr Rhiannon Mellor Ive recently started working in oncology, and I see day after day the challenges that people with cancer face, from dealing with what the diagnosis means for themselves and their families, to working out how to still live some kind of life around doctors appointments and chemotherapy infusions. I see people fighting to stand tall through physical pain, living with uncertainty and constantly being forced to be vulnerable. Im repe...atedly overwhelmed by the grace of those who suffer. The Dry July Foundation aims to make life a little easier for those affected by cancer. These are just some of what your past donations to the CPMCC Westmead Dry July have achieved: Through your gifts the long chemotherapy hours have been just a little more bearable with comfortable chairs. Your donations have provided funds to transform the waiting areas in the Centre, adding some colour and light for those who spend so much time there. And at a time when patients are constantly being forced to be vulnerable, your support has provided gowns that allow for more modesty and dignity during radiation therapy. These are just some of the great things that our Dry July and CPMCC partnership have achieved so far and this year our wish list is long so we need your help. We are almost halfway through the month but lets continue to do what we can! If you havent already started, its not too late to do a Dry-ish July for 2-3 weeks OR you can donate a few $ and support our patients and their families. All of the money I raise goes to the CPMCC Westmead so if you can, please support me in my Dry July for 2020 #DryJuly #goingdry Dry July Foundation Western Sydney Health https://www.dryjuly.com//westmeadhospital-thecrownprincess

21.01.2022 Zoe's Story - This year I’ve decided to finally step up and GO DRY FOR JULY!!! I have been lucky enough to work as a clinical nurse consultant/care coordinator at the CPMCC Westmead for the last 6 + years. Since I began in 2014 I have always been supportive of Dry July. I think it is an extremely essential fundraiser which provides invaluable services for cancer patients and their families. In my role as a CNC, quality of life is paramount for our patients and an important... goal of care for ALL patients. Dry July helps us in providing this quality of care in so many ways. This year I’ve decide to finally step up and not just support, but to take part and GO DRY FOR JULY!!! Having known and cared for so many people over the years professionally and some personally, I know first-hand how much of a difference these wonderful projects make. Some of the projects funded by Dry July at CPMCC include the cancer ward refurbishment, patient pamper packs, special sofa beds so family can spend the night with loved ones, outpatient waiting room refurbishments to name just a few. Seeing how much of a difference these projects make to ALL our cancer patients is of personal importance to me, I will GO DRY FOR JULY and hope that you will support me and the CPMCC Westmead. 12.01.2022 What does the Dry July campaign fund? Read Janes story: I have been a patient at the Crown Princess Mary Cancer Centre Westmead for the past 12 months. When I first started attending, I found the centre very clinical and it reminded you that you were visiting the hospital yet again for another appointment. ... After Dry July 2019 the funds raised gave the centre a much needed upgrade. It is now a bright, peaceful and more comfortable place to visit. The beautiful artwork gave you something to lose your thoughts in and a more comfortable seat made the wait not as hard. The Centre does some wonderful work for me and countless other patients and the funds raised really do assist those undergoing cancer treatment.
