15.01.2022 Hi All Members, Unfortunately I have bad news regarding the 2020 Season. The MWBL & Baseball Victoria have decided to cancel the 2020 Season. ... As explained in the statement from the MWBL the recent rise in COVID-19 cases & certain postcodes going into lockdown has left Baseball Victoria & the MWBL no choice but to cancel the Junior & Senior competitions for this year. I know this is disappointing to say the least but the safety of the players, members & spectators is paramount. Players are still able train on Saturday’s. All COVID-19 rules will remain in place. The club will also use this time to do maintenance on the ground, upgrade the batting cage & continue to work with the Maroondah Council in our request to have our main diamond dugouts upgraded. The Croydon Baseball Club would like to thank MWBL President Slade Squire & his team for their tireless work during this period. I know personally from all the meetings that we’re held that Slade did everything possible to try & get us back on the field. I would also personally like to thank our players & members for their patience over the last couple of months. 12.01.2022 Hi All Members, Well after Saturday i think we all thought that would be the end of the 2020 Season with the restrictions becoming tighter again. I honestly thought that was it & i know a lot of our members did too.... Please see below email from Baseball Victoria. Good Evening Winter Club Presidents and Secretaires, Please see attached the release to be made to all Baseball Victoria members this evening, regarding the changes to the current Victorian COVID restrictions. In summary, Seniors - are allowed to train in groups of ten, with a total of 20 on the field plus coaching staff for seniors returning to the original format we used in May. Juniors - return to full contact training and competition subject to the Winter Association junior competition start dates; Batting Cages are allowed to open for a maximum of 10 people; Club Rooms and Change Rooms are Open. The restriction of 20 people total for outdoor activity, with no more than 10 people in a group is being reviewed by the Victorian Government and Sport and Recreation that may return to the update format in the coming days. All the necessary training attendance forms have been updated to include 10 people, plus coaching staff. BV expect there to be additional updates and changes in the coming days. 04.01.2022 Hi all players & members. I hope you are all doing as well as can be & staying safe in these very challenging times. A lot of you will know club member Tasa Damante... Tasa is running for re-election for the Wicklow Ward in the Maroondah City Council elections that are coming up. If you or your family & friends reside in this area please vote Tasa number 1 on the ballot! Ballots are being mailed out this week! I spend a lot of time over the summer & during the season speaking to the council trying to get things done to make the club a great place to play & a great place for our members come & watch. It can only advantageous for us to have a member of the club on the council especially when we are currently in negotiations to get new dugouts & monetary grants. I can also report that once lockdown is over the batting cage will be upgraded! Hopefully I see everyone down at the club in 2021! Stay safe & go Rams!
