25.01.2022 The week that was

25.01.2022 What an amazing week we have had at Croydon Park Cottage. With our dancing and basketball program well underway, the children really are enjoying learning new skills, new dances and have settled amazingly into both programs! The preschool group took drawing to a whole new level with the children drawing self portraits this week, which have turned out amazing The toddler group really have enjoyed the outdoor play we have gotten this week, as well as the transport, pl...ay dough, painting and group times! We hope all our families have a wonderful weekend #CPC #basketball #dancing #earlylearning See more

24.01.2022 Our sand kitchen offers so many different learning opportunities. It is open ended, allowing each child to get involved in their own way. It is a sensory experience, and encourages the use of scientific language and descriptions such as texture, viscosity and temperature. It is a role playing experience, where children can develop their understanding of their extended community and the ways in which they can contribute to that community. It requires cooperation and communication when working in small groups, as well as problem solving and experimentation.

22.01.2022 Magpie Sports Club has been contacted by NSW Health this afternoon and advised that they are currently investigating a patron who has recently tested positive t...o COVID-19. They have advised that the patron visited Magpie Sports Club on Friday 10th of July between 8pm and 12 midnight. Whilst we have not been advised to close by NSW Health at this stage, in an abundance of caution we have made the decision to close the club this afternoon to enable a professional deep clean of the premises and we hope to reopen for business tomorrow. The health and safety of our patrons and our team are our highest priority. If you were at the club during this time and are deemed by NSW Health (after finalising their investigation) to be a close contact, they will be in touch by mobile or email. Should any staff be considered close contacts from that evening, they will be relieved of duty and will be required to self-isolate as per NSW Health guidelines. In the meantime if you have any concerns or are showing any symptoms you can refer to the NSW Health Website (www.health.nsw.gov.au) for further information or testing clinic locations. For more detailed information on our CovidSafe plan and response please click https://www.magpiesports.com.au/announcement. Stay Safe and we will see you again soon.

21.01.2022 Over the last few weeks we have been working on a birthday chart with the children at Croydon Park Cottage. For this, the children were invited to draw a self portrait using coloured markers and a mirror. The results were incredible! This week we have put the portraits on display and the children have been thrilled. There has been a lot of discussion about the similarities and differences between the group and excitement in regards to sharing the display with their families. This activity has enhanced each childs sense of belonging within our centre and helped each child explore their sense of identity. #croydonparkcottage #croydonpark #belonging #identity #selfportrait #lookatme #ididthat

20.01.2022 Social Isolation is a state of complete or near-complete lack of contact between an individual and society... We are so grateful for our families who are doing their part during this time and keeping their children home... and of course for our families who are essential workers and still working also doing their part... The children staying home cant see their friends nor join in on the fun... not at Croydon Park Cottage Last week we launched our Zoom Grouptimes...... Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10am we have our Zoom grouptimes so the children staying home still get to say hi to their friends and stilll get to join in on our fun, stories, dancing and games! We have also continued our dance program on Tuesday mornings, where the children at the centre and at home get to log on and join in on the fun and dancing with Miss Amanda, keeping everyone still active From all the staff at Croydon Park Cottage, we thank all our families and the community for doing their part during these tough times! We hope you all have a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing you all on our Zoom calls #croydonparkcottage #socialisolation #keepingactive See more

17.01.2022 Some of our learning environments are beginning to look a little different to what they were. We are trying to incorporate physical distancing into our experiences in a natural and mindful way without losing the very essence of each experience. We have also added a home office to our dramatic play area to align with the ideas that have come from recent discussions with the children. So far all of the changes have been embraced! #croydonparkcottage #earlylearning #everevolving #physicaldistance #homeoffice

12.01.2022 Social Interaction is such a big part of early childhood! Over the past few months whilst we had children off, it was amazing to see the children form new friendships with other children at our centre! Now that most children have returned, the circles of friendships have grown, with larger groupings of friendships, as well as more children working together on group projects, all child initiated! It is very rare for us to see children not in a group activity or not playing with others, which has been amazing to observe! #socialinteractions #earlychildhood #CPC

As for now, our term 2 program is still set to start in May unless further stated by the Department of Health. Parent's we urge you to try you're best to make sure children stay active at home and off the screens as much as possible. If you need help with this you can contact Coach Emile on 0422 320 492 and he will be able to provide you with some fun games and activities to keep physically active. 04.01.2022 This week we altered our gross motor equipment in the outdoor learning environment to offer the children more of a challenge. The balance beams were higher, the stepping stones further apart and a beam placed on a steep incline. Both the older and younger children responded well to the changes, fearlessly extending their knowledge and abilities. Outdoor play offers the children the opportunity to explore their physicality in ways that are just not always possible inside. This week the children extended their gross motor skills, whole body coordination and large muscle control. It also provided an opportunity for the older children to offer a helping hand to our younger members, building upon our already strong sense of community.
