25.01.2022 Official Launch of National Mental Health Month

25.01.2022 Most ballot papers have arrived. Vote and return your ballots to beat the cutoff on 23/10.

25.01.2022 Collecting bread from Bakers Delight in Wantirna for Knox Infolink to distribute to people caught short. First picture June, masked picture September. (I would love a haircut!) Thanks to a great bakery. Infolink, you are the greatest!

24.01.2022 Gender equality! Nominate someone in Knox who has made a significant contribution by Oct 2. https://docs.google.com//1FAIpQLScGlvqS0eOjUbVw1F/viewform

22.01.2022 Staff recommened the sale of Millers Homestead because there was little or no community interest. This turned out to be completely untrue. Led by Cr John and myself we surveyed everywhere we could and ran a pop-up event at Easter last year to guage interest. There was huge interest in retaining Millers in council ownership. And so it stays.

22.01.2022 Our expanded netball centre. Our $15 million ($6m/$5m/$4m) project to expand and upgrade Knox Regional Netball Centre will begin months ahead of schedule, following a $5 million contribution from the Victorian Government thanks to Jackson Taylor MP . The upgrades, which will add two more indoor courts to allow more all-weather matches and greatly improve accessibility, spectator comfort and visitor parking, is funded by Knox City Council in addition to $5 million from the Vic...torian Government and a $4 million contribution from the Australian Government thanks to Alan Tudge MP More than 6,000 netballers use the Regional Netball Centre each week, with more than 40 new teams joining over the past five years, I borrowed pictures from Fairpark Netball Club and Boronia Hawks Football Netball Club. #Boronia #FerntreeGully #Bayswater

21.01.2022 Its not long now before something actually happens in Boronia! We have been developing this project over the last 3 years and now its thanks to Jackson Taylor MP that we can get the wheels turning! Onward Boronia!

19.01.2022 It was great to volunteer with the Mental Health Foundation Australia preparing meals. We have a project to provide 1,000 cooked meals per day to various locations in #Melbourne, for the communities and international students in need, from 1st week of August until Sept 28. There has been great assistance from the #DHHS, the Salvation Army, the Australian Multicultural Foundation, our lovely volunteers and donors. They have worked with us and assisted generously for this program. Without them, we’re not able to run this program! https://www.mhfa.org.au/ #mentalhealthmatters #MHFA Stephen CW Yin, Christina Chia

16.01.2022 I am in my familiar position on the ballot paper- the bottom (3rd). In 11 elections I have been no. 1 only once. I am 5 and 5. Looking for 6:5.

15.01.2022 National Mental Health Symposium

15.01.2022 Thursday September 17: 28. Success is slow but sure. The pain is worth it. Unfortunately there are those still paying the price but as we come out of this there will be far fewer people suffering. "If you don't read the newspaper, you're uninformed. If you read the newspaper, you're mis-informed." Mark Twain.... Still 12 in ICU. 143 Healthcare workers- too many but much better than a month ago. 18,217 recovered. A growing number. #covid #boronia #knox #Bayswater #ferntreegully

13.01.2022 One of the many projects that have been happening while the pools are closed. Capital works have been continuing at Knox to maintain jobs. Building projects were able to continue with a covid plan.

13.01.2022 100,000 more trees! Climate change means we need to reduce the emissions of CO2. We also need lots of trees to soak up the carbon that is there and that will be there. I asked council to investigate obtaining the Healseville Freeway reservation next to Dandenong Creek in order to plant 100,000 trees. Continue the Bateman St Bushland!

12.01.2022 7 cases, 5 deaths, Knox is up to 1 active case. Fingers crossed that we are still moving forward. "Politics is supposed to be the second-oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first." Ronald Reagan.

12.01.2022 Take a virtual walk for National Mental Health Month

11.01.2022 A phenomenal achievement to deliver so many meals for so many by so few. (sorry Winston)

10.01.2022 CHANGE IS COMING: Tomorrow at 3pm, I will be announcing the first two exciting projects to get underway to help transform Boronia! Comment below and I'll provid...e the link when it's announced. I'm SO excited to tell you about this! UPDATE: Here is the announcement - https://www.facebook.com/JacksonTaylorMP/posts/3149715451942060 Please continue to share if you think Boronia need's a shake up. And in case you missed it, here's whats happened so far: As you may know I recently announced $500,000 to help kick-start change in Boronia and begin the process of working towards revitalising our proud community in Boronia which is home to over 20,000 people and it was great to have a fellow supporter of driving change in Boronia, Cr Peter Lockwood sign up to support this and back it in and to create local jobs! As a long-time local, I know first-hand that Boronia needs a shake-up and this is hopefully just the start of that much needed change. I want this to be the start. It needs to be just that. This $500,000 will deliver a suite of projects which will create jobs, support local business and work has already begun with Knox Council on this and they're ready to deliver a great project to kick-start change in this community. I'll have plenty more to say on what the exciting projects will look like as we move along. And I'll keep you informed at every step and use your voices for this and further change. There are lots of opinions on Boronia, this is good. As we go forward, your voice and your thoughts are going to be so important to me in advocating for change. This is a step in the right direction, it is the start of change in Boronia and in a little bit, I'M GOING TO ASK FOR YOUR HELP to push for more positive change and to help revitalise our area. It goes without saying (will say it anyways) that to bring everlasting positive change and further investment we are going to need to work with community and with a range of stakeholders across different levels of government. It’ll take a lot of work and this won’t be easy. I try not to say things I can't do anything about or make positive change to. But I’m going to give this a red hot crack. And please keep tuned for when I will call on all of you to help me kick on with positive change in Boronia.

10.01.2022 Election signs are legal.

10.01.2022 Go Tigers! Go Storm! Win together for Melbourne.

06.01.2022 "A lie can run around the world six times while the truth is still trying to put on its pants." Mark Twain. 1 New case yesterday. The bad news is that 1 of the 2 new ones for Thursday was in Knox! Be careful out there. Lets get back to zero. Our neighbours are doing OK, especially Dandenong and Casey. Well done Maroondah!!... Keep at it. It is working!

03.01.2022 Knox Council rates: there are 57 councils (out of 79) who have higher average rates than Knox.

03.01.2022 Knox Infolink, doing great work in this pandemic and at all times!

02.01.2022 Pay attention to your mental health.

01.01.2022 As a council we do not play partisan politics. We need government. They are major funders. We need good relationships.

01.01.2022 The indefatigable ones. Stephen CW Yin, Membership Coordinator and Christina Chia, vice chair MHFA, working hard on the meals program. So many meals. Every day!
